21: The vows
Important Note: For every two years that passes, the royals blood age one year. So for the rest of Wahala. Robb Ainsworth has ruled for a hundred years according to the calculations but he has aged only fifty since ruling...Robb Ainsworth, the alpha king’s father, had fallen asleep with the moon goddess for the last three years after a hundred years of ruling as alpha king. This was the way of the Wahala kingdom. Every king who had successfully marked a hundred years of ruling had fallen asleep. These kings either pass on to the life beyond or to wake as alpha of alphas. A majority of the former kings had slept and passed on to the life beyond. Only a few had woken up from the sleep. The sleep lasted between one to ten years and when an alpha king awake from such a sleep, his title becomes the alpha of alphas. This would make him the father of all alphas. The awakening of Robb Ainsworth, Xavier’s father, now made him the strongest alpha and living supernatural being in the kingdom and

22: The agreement
“If I own you as you do me, does that mean I also have access to your thought?” “You don’t. I am the alpha king. Getting into my head, especially since our union never got consummated, would be impossible for you. Even if the union was consummated, it’ll still be an arduous task.” “But it can be done.” She clung to a little hope. He nodded. “I still do not understand why you’re calm through all this. You’ve snapped in the past for way less.” She didn’t believe the awakening of his father could tame him this much. Nothing could tame a man like the alpha king. He lifted his left hand and there was a ring on his middle finger that glowed red. She hadn’t noticed it since she stepped into the room. Her mind had been on something else. She wondered if it was what she was thinking. “It’s a restrain ring,” he said, confirming her suspicion. “My mother made it and gave it to me as a gift.” Layla Ainsworth was not only the Queen in her time, she was also a white witch. Her magic often ha

23: His good queen
The door to Mia’s Chambers opened and Toni, a maid much older than Lydia, stepped into the room.  Mia was before the dressing mirror putting on her robe. She tied its rope around it before turning around to acknowledge Toni’s presence. Since her return three days ago, a few things have changed. Lydia was no longer her maid, she was dismissed from the palace the day after her return. When Mia confronted Xavier about it, he told her straight away that Lydia was disloyal and not trustworthy. Mia moved to plead on her behalf, stating that the young maid had no hand in her escape and neither did she know about it. But he didn’t listen. When she persisted, he snapped and told her he needed people he could trust to do their jobs. Lydia wasn’t one of them, according to him. With a sad and broken heart; she said goodbye to her maid. There was nothing more she could do. She didn’t want to anger the alpha king any further. They had made an agreement, and she needed

24: The King's decision
As Edward returned from his meeting with the council concerning the Capital 3’s project, he received notice that the king wanted to have a word with him. Although not specifying what the talk was about, Edward could discern it wouldn’t be far from his loyalty to him as alpha king.  They have had talks more than once since Mia returned, but Xavier had not summoned him into his study yet. Something about today’s talk would be different, Edward could feel it. Since the queen’s return, Edward hadn’t seen Xavier lose his temper. It surprised Edward when Mia told him Xavier didn’t harm her that night but seeing the restraint ring he knew why. His brother hadn’t worn the ring since he received it as a gift from their mother. The ring was a protector and a repeller of his rage. Queen Layla knew she would not always be around to pacify him, and this was her alternative. Due to its magical elements, it took a lot from Xavier to have it on his fingers, yet he hadn’

25: Love
Mia arrived for the meeting right on time and Toni followed behind her, holding onto a big book. It’s been a week since she started coming for the meeting. The first day was mind-blowing and enlightening, and she immediately knew she would love it here. So many topics from marriage to mating were discussed and so many issues were resolved before the meeting ended last week. At her arrival, most of the maidens and heads of the council gave her a weird glance, but she brushed it off and told herself she deserved to be here. She was queen. Yes, she was younger than most of them and not so good looking, but that didn’t change the fact of the matter. She was their queen, and there was no altering that.  Mia took notice of a few things that needed adjustments and the others that needed provision. There was no book of account for the meeting and no record book of the discussion that took place. Without these records, they wouldn’t know which cases had been trea

26: The cruelty of hell
Seeing that her time had been well spent at the courthouse, she made her move to leave. She approached the exit door, but stopped when she saw Zara Michel perched at the door. She shouldn’t feel surprised by her presence. Every maiden in Wahala was invited to partake of the meeting, and that included her. Her sight, however, stirred up a negative feeling in Mia.  Zara stood with arms crossed in a red fray gown that made her skin radiate and held onto her middle firmly. Her blonde hair was in a ponytail with its tips braided. She looked elegant even though she placed little effort into her looks. Mia could see why the alpha King was taken with her. On the outside, she was beautiful and on the inside; she was just like him, a monster.  “Congratulations on your first act as Queen,” Zara said, stepping boldly towards her.  Now, unlike the first and last time Mia saw her, she knew who she was. This prepared her for whatever games Zara hoped

27: The act of rebellion
“I was at the temple,” Xavier spoke as Mia stepped into the throne room after being summoned. Being summoned meant getting reprimanded. That didn’t always happen, not yet. She knew her role and played it out well. She stayed polite and graceful every time she stepped out of her room. And despite wanting to choke the air out of her husband, the alpha king, just for breathing around her most times, she didn’t. She had kept her heart in check and remained in control, even though it seemed impossible. Edward would want her to. These past few days had been peaceful between them, but she didn’t forget what he did to Edward. She didn’t know why she was summoned, but it wasn’t for what she had done. He had also dismissed his guards, so whatever he wanted to talk about was between the two of them. She debated what it was about. “The alpha of alphas has awakened for over a week now, but he will return to the state of reasoning later today

28: Chaos with the royals
The sound of the trumpet informed Xavier of his father’s arrival and he rose from his throne and down the stairs, towards the wide window, which he could see through. Just as expected, Robb got down from his carriage escorted by a few temple guards and priests towards the Palace. He was adorned in a white long robe with golden stripes, a signature of his title as alpha of alphas. Xavier hated the wrecking feeling that always accompanied the thought of Robb being close by. He had had it since he was a child and he thought he’d outgrow it by now. It was the fear that his father could take away from him in a blink everything he had worked so hard to attain. He feared that from childhood and even till now; the fear lingered. It’s been over three years since Robb Ainsworth stepped foot into the Palace. Three years of not being contradicted, and over three years of not having to prove himself worthy to a good-for-nothing father. Time had gone by so fast, maybe even too fast. He turned to

29: Rush and restraints
Mia flipped the book in her hand to page seventeen, and she almost started reading when her door flew open and the devil emerged inside, with a face ripped so red Mia almost feared it’ll explode.  The ring was still on his finger, but somehow he looked as furious as ever. Perhaps it wasn’t as powerful as everyone thought, or Xavier’s fury was that intense.  He stormed towards her, but Mia remained, unmoved. “What in the name of all mystical creations do you think you’re doing?” he growled at her.  “Reading,” she simply replied, her insolent boldness stopping him in his tracks, which was still a few feet away from her.  He laughed, but not a merry laugh. It was filled with the rage coursing on the inside, coming to play on the outside.  “I should have killed you. I should have asked those guards to kill you and throw your sorry body into the ocean.” He ran his furry shaky hand through his hair, tugging hard on it, an at

30: A good team
“Shall we go now?” he asked grumpily, snapping her out of her thought. She grinned and rose to her feet with grace, walking over to him and falling in line with him. “I’m pretty sure Robb would look down on me for taking too long to present my wife to him.” “You could tell him you were helping your wife out, as any caring husband would.” he turned and glared at her, but she ignored him and continued. “Thanks for the hair. I didn’t think you could handle it.” She admitted. She expected his response to be a silly excuse to brush up his tortured ego, but it was nothing of that sort. “Me too. My mother’s hair was slicker and straight, hence easy to control. Yours was a little different.” Hearing him talk about his mother, the former queen told her he had a healthy relationship with her, unlike his father. “You did it though, better than I would have.” His hand dropped to wrap around her waist, pulling her against his firm body. “Well, good thing you married me.” he joked in a co
