CHAPTER 1
When I thought of my life before this hell, which I didn't like to do because there were too many painful memories associated with it, I remembered my brother. In some ways he had been the best older brother any girl could hope for. He was always there for me, protecting me, encouraging me, and showering me with affection. But when I was twelve, things changed. In hindsight, it was obvious that his behavior was suspicious. He'd started watching me like a hawk and smirking at me. I'd thought it was some sort of game, smirking at each other and not getting caught by our parents. But then he started sneaking out at night more than usual, and he took me with him a few times. "Our little secret," he'd called it. He'd take me to the woods and we'd sit in an old shed and drink soda and chew gum and listen to music our parents hated. It was all pretty innocent. I never thought anything of it, beyond enjoying the thrill of doing something "bad." He brought a few weird friends to the house once

CHAPTER 2
John's betrayal was complete the first night the alpha... used me. He'd been touching me too intimately for a while, calling me "angel" or "Sanna" and pretending he liked me. I'd always seen through it, and eventually, he realized that and decided to simply use force. It was his favorite tactic. So he knocked me out one night, tied me tightly to his bed, and... I didn't like to think about what happened when I woke up. In the year since then, I'd been used countless times, by the alpha or his favored betas. Being made up entirely of penniless teenagers, the pack never had any food unless they stole it, and I'd gotten used to constant hunger. I was skin and bones, too unhealthy to conceive a child, as I assumed their intentions with me were after I finally learned what made omegas special. How they didn't realize that I was too unhealthy to fall pregnant, I didn't know. But then again, I'd gotten more of an education than anyone besides John, who took too much pleasure in knowing how mu

CHAPTER 3
When I open my eyes, I was circled by some unknown man and I know they were vampires. Shit! I was in vampire territory. In a rush of panic, I jumped past them. They growled and came after me immediately. I just had to hope I could run fast and far enough that they decided I wasn't worth it. In the dark, it was hard to know where to put my feet, but I ran as hard as I could toward the border of our territory, heart in my throat when I heard pursuers. They were going to kill me if I didn't escape, and I forced my feet to move faster, lungs burning till I thought my heart would burst out of my chest in its desperation. The footsteps had ceased, and a look around showed me I had left the pack territory. I was in a neutral zone now. I collapsed under a tree, panting. I swallowed painfully, trying to create some moisture in my mouth. I had to breathe before I died, and then I had to keep moving. They might still be out there. Where would I go now? I thought frantically. I knew there was a

CHAPTER 4
I woke up in the daylight surrounded by beta werewolves and snarled as threateningly as I could, grabbing one of them by the leg and sinking my fangs into his calf. The others leaped back, grabbing the one I'd injured and pulling him to a safe distance as he screeched in pain. I forced myself to stand up. I ran. Shit shit shit, I was gonna die. I curled in the air to hopefully land in a roll. My breath was knocked out of me in a painful crunch and my head throbbed where I'd hit it. My lungs burned and I knew I'd at least cracked a rib. I slid a few feet and managed to roll over, letting myself slide down the roof. A few tiles near me shattered as bullets rained down from above, and I fell to the street absolutely gracelessly, landing within a crumpled heap with an audible thump. Sirens were rapidly approaching from my left, louder every second. I dragged myself to my feet, fueled by pure panic, and raced down the road. I needed to hide, I couldn't keep running like this. The thunder
