MIRANDA’S POVTiptoeing past the shelter’s gate, Miranda exhaled a huge sigh of relief. Her heart that had been pounding heavily, reduced and bleeding she could flex her fat muscles in comfort and relaxation.Wiping a flicker of sweat atop her brows, Miranda checked her wristwatch, checking the time.It was almost 10pm, the exact time she had requested Tessa and Dinah to meet up with her, and even though deep down she had a fear that they might not come to this meeting, she still had her hopes up.They had been friends before, and Miranda had lured them out with some fake promises. She knew the kind of people they were, and knowing that they couldn’t afford to waste any precious gist, Miranda knew that they would surely keep up with her request despite their indifference and spite.Hands outstretched, she quickly flagged down a cab.She didn’t waste anytime telling the cab driver, her destination and looking left and right, making sure no one had seen her leave, Miranda entered the ca

CHRISTIAN Christian stared at his cell phone, waiting for Sara to pick up his call. He had been dialing her all to no avail, and now he was on the verge of giving up.“Is anything the matter son?” His mother asked and he just sighed. She was with him in the room, as they were both busy packing for his leave to Seattle in some days. Today he had expected Sara to be here helping him, no he wanted her to be here with him, but she was nowhere to be found.Looking up from his phone, and throwing the clothes he had in his hands on the bed, Christian plopped his ass on the bed frustration eating deep at him.“You are calling Sara?” His mother asked, walking over from the bed, and placing a hand on shoulder and obligingly Christian nodded.“I’ve been calling her since morning, but she has not been picking my calls. I think she must be at that damned carnival party I told her not to attend, and now she’s so engrossed in whatever fun she’s having.” He huffed, his hands raking through his hair

SARASara had no idea where she really was, but all she knew was that she was feeling dizzy and strange all over.Tessa’s hands still on her wrist as they walked, they finally came to a stop in front of a building which looked empty from the outside actually. Her head hurt badly, and her eyes were rolling as she was seeing things in double. Her tongue felt like it would split any second, burning up so badly and she sneezed. She glanced down at the drink Tessa had given her, and she realized that she must be reacting to something in it, or the juice was probably alcoholic. Clearing her somewhat sore throat she decided to ask, “Tessa, what’s in this drink? Is it alcoholic? I don’t react well to alcohol and…”Another sharp pain shot to her skull, and she yelped out softly almost inaudibly dragging her gaze towards Tessa, who looked like she was waiting for something or someone.“Tessa, I asked you a question. Where the hell are we going to?” Sara asked again, increasing the volume of he

CHRISTIAN“You are headed to the shelter this morning? Is that what you are telling me son?” Mrs Smith, Christian’s mother asked, and he nodded once, grabbing his coat on the couch and putting it on.“But you are supposed to get some things done, to facilitate our move to Seattle today. If I recall, you have to go to the ports office to take care of our luggage this morning.”“Yes!” Christian said, and his mother said again, “Why aren’t you going there then? You can go see Sara anytime you get back. You can…”“Enough mother, enough.” He screamed, startling his younger brother who was in the living room watching some movies.“Is anything the matter brother?” Kevin’s soft voice chimed in, his blue eyes worried and Christian mumbled some sorry to his mother before waving of his brother’s concerns.Raking his hands through his hair, Christian cleared his throat as he tried to compose himself. He didn’t know how to explain how he was feeling, and the way he had been worried sick all night,

CHRISTIAN“So how have you been?”At this rather absurd question, Christian’s chest tightened all to suddenly. Throwing Dinah, a sideways glance he bobbed his head twice, and truthfully replied, “The last few days haven’t been the best at all.”As he said this, Christian felt a little bit of relief pass through him. Now more than ever, he realized that he wanted to talk to someone. He needed someone whom he could trust, and vent out his worries too, and luckily for him now he had that person. When she had approached him some minutes earlier, asking to sit with him he had obliged not because he wanted it, but because he just couldn’t turn her down and it was obvious she had coincidentally met him here too. Who was he to say no? This was a public beach, and the bench he was sitting on was public property so he had no right to ward her off…Now though, he was glad he had offered her a seat. Her presence was warm, and he felt free with her which was a good sign in his opinion.“Oh my good
