42 ALEXANDER “What happened?” I ask her, whilst she just avoided my questioning gaze and glued her eyes to the floor. She shook her head briefly before glancing up at me with a look of uncertainty in her blood-red eyes. There was a hint of nervousness in them as well which gradually disappeared the longer she fixed her eyes on me. “I just want to go home,” She mumbles. I stared at her for a few more seconds before letting out a sigh of defeat. “Fine, let’s go.” I eyed Linda who was also staring at Eleanor with a nervous look on her pale face. We headed to the car while I carried her three bags and put them in the backseat. Eleanor decided to keep her silence during the entire drive back home. Glancing at her face and posture as she looked out the window, I noticed that her mood changed into a different level I couldn’t quite reach, nor can I bring myself to grasp the emotions dwindling behind it. I then forced my gaze back to the road, gripping the stirring wheel around both m

BARBARAPresent time...If there is one thing I'm sure about Alpha Victor, it's that he hates the Wade brothers. Deeply. His hatred for them is like hot, burning lava erupting from a volcano that has been active for years, since the two of them were born. He hates them for the fact that despite being at a young age, Alexander had already surpassed him in terms of wealth and strength, connections as well as power only he could possess in his wildest dreams. Every wolf in Blue Mountains Pack is not ignorant of our alpha's intense thirst for power, that he's done everything to make us who we are today. I remember when he used to let us train a day long. When one of us makes a wrong move or complain about being exhausted, his beta would let us train 'til after midnight. All of us thought it's what's best for the pack, and that Aloha Victor was doing this for the better. To make us stronger than the rest of the packs in United States. For years, we've been made to believe our strength and

46ELEANORI felt my body stir on the bed and suddenly, my eyes were forced open at the sound of vague whispers. Even now, I can hear it like she was still there, whispering into my ear.‘Leave, Eleanor. Leave before it’s too late,’ She’d whispered the words into my ear as I stared at myself in the mirror of the dressing room that day. She was there too. Her curly red hair contradicted her empty grey eyes. I’d wondered whether it was her natural color. Her reflection showed she was standing a little far from me although I could feel her breath pressing against my ear. Like the surging wind signaling a time of despair about to transpire. Through me.I had stared back into her gray eyes that didn’t seem to look directly at mine. Instead, her eyes stared seemingly through me. Into a dark space. Spinning around, I had waved my hand in front of her face, only to see no response of any sort. That was when I realized—she was blind. My hand had still been waving in the air when Linda had abru

48 ELEANOR “What the fuck happened?!” Elijah stormed inside the room, darting his eyes to Adrian’s before mine. My hands trembled above my lap. I stared wide-eyed at Adrian not daring to see the look on Elijah nor Veronyka’s face when they saw Adrian on the floor. Groaning in pain. “What did you do?” Veronyka’s words rang inside my head. Each word was firm as she narrowed her eyes at me. “I…I’m sorry” I whispered. “No, you’re not. Look at him!” Veronyka pointed her finger at Adrian who struggled to get up on his feet. Elijah was quick to help him and he managed to get him to stand. However, as soon as he did he shoved Elijah and he stumbled backwards. My gaze fixed on Adrian’s chest. It was sweating. His breathing slowly increasing its pace, making me feel a twinge of anxiety as I stared at him now. He was gripping his arm while pushing his back hard against the wall. The way he stood in an awkward stance let me know he was rendered a broken knee. Scrambling out of the bed, I

ELEANOR “I’m ready.” I announce. Devin gave Sam a small nod and he sauntered over to my direction, stopping when he was only a few inches away from me. He took out a pair of cuffs which made the floor quake with Elijah’s thunderous growl. “Is that really necessary?” He asked angrily. Devin paused. Sam turning to face him when both their eyes glowed, indicating they have mind-linked. Sam withdrew with his cuffs and instead gestured for me to follow him. I nod at Elijah who kept throwing me a worried look since I walked our from the bathroom door. He walked with us only until we reached a fancy limousine parked right outside the packhouse. “Don’t be afraid, Luna. Alex will come for you soon,” Elijah leaned on the car door after it closed. I gave him a weak smile, praying he doesn’t. The car engine roared to life. I nodded at Elijah and he stepped away from the car. His hands shoved inside his pockets and I saw his eyes glow bright gold. He must be mindlinking Alexander to in
