“…Clarissa… can you wake up now?” I asked, several hours later. The sun had set and risen again, but I still remained at her bedside. My head was feeling woozy, having not slept at all, and I was beginning to think that maybe this was it.…Maybe she really wouldn’t wake up.But as I tried to fight off sleep, I couldn’t help but wonder if it was my fault. I shouldn’t have yelled and pushed her past her limit when I knew she was already unwell. My anger and frustration had gotten the better of me, and it seemed I was now seeing the price of that.…Even saying things that I hadn’t entirely meant. Things I wished I could take back.‘*“Have you seen flowers like this before, Rheyna?”*’ I swore I then heard Clarissa ask.But when I sharply raised my head up to look at her, hoping to see her awake, I found myself somewhere else.…I was in a field. An incredibly young and energetic-looking Clarissa was seated on the ground before me, amongst thousands of overgrown white flowers. There was pin

Hi everyone,This is just a quick note regarding the remainder of Book Two. Apologies for how long it's taken me to finish the book. Due to financial and personal/health reasons, I had to take a step back two years ago to make sure that I was okay first. My goal was to finish the book last year but I was then unfortunately diagnosed with a neuro disorder, so I've spent the last year retraining my body with physio and trying to live as normal of a life as I can. It's taken a long time to feel ready to finish the story, but it was always my intention to come back. The second book is now complete and I'll be publishing all the remaining chapters at once (Chapters #62 - #73, Epilogue, & possibly + 1 Bonus Chapter). I anticipate this will be within 1-2 weeks after this Author Note is published (once I've finished editing the chapters and GoodNovel approves them - if required). I'm writing this update in advance as sometimes it can take time for Author Notes to be approved. I wrote the en

My entire body froze up at the sight of Allison, the shock of it feeling as though I’d taken a kick to the gut.How was I meant to get out of this? I needed to leave before she saw my face. Her reaction to me being here with her alone could trigger the very event I was desperately trying to prevent. But I quickly ran out of time to think of a plan.“...Who’s there?” Allison called out, her voice sounding almost sleepy. It looked as though she’d been meditating or... praying? Perhaps for a long time if the grogginess in her voice was anything to go by. But the most shocking part was that she apparently had full faith in her safety inside Ashwood. She didn’t even bother to turn around and look at who’d entered. She seemed so... defenceless sitting before me.It was a thought that renewed the feeling of being drawn to the cabin again. But it wasn’t a feeling of fear or curiosity, I realised. Rather, it was one of motivation and drive. Of... violence. A part of me must have recognised the

Dust continued to hail from above with every step I took, forcing me to pause each time as I anticipated the ceiling to fall down. Thankfully, no such thing occurred, much to my own surprise.Along the way, I found several broken beams and large furniture pieces constantly blocking my path as I navigated the first few rooms. Some of it looked as though it’d been used to try and barricade the house all those years ago, whilst the rest more so looked like collateral from whatever battle had taken place in here. Regardless, it made the journey incredibly difficult. Not to mention, I was relying on my heightened senses to traverse with the little light the moon outside provided.Had it been just me alone, I might have been able to manoeuvre through the obstacles quite easily, but with Clarissa on my back, that plan was basically impossible. This unfortunate detail meant that it was taking me far longer to move around than it should have, even when taking into consideration how careful I w

How long had she been observing me?How long had she kept her distance as Clarissa slowly died, all the while she desperately needed her help?Selene had made herself mortal, cloaking in the image of an old lady, and merely watched me as if I were a form of entertainment. But why?Why show herself to me with answers that I hadn’t yet needed? It seemed odd that she would dangle something like that before my eyes, only to run off and never show herself again. What was she playing at?“ARGH!” Clarissa screamed loudly, breaking my thoughts.I looked back down at her as she began to shake violently and cursed under my breath. What the hell was I meant to do now? How was I going to find Selene? She didn’t exactly leave her business card behind. Just where did a Goddess like to hang out during their mortal-life vacation? How far—.But then another memory came to mind.Because I’d once asked this very question in another life.A prior version of me had tried to track down Selene, asking the o
