A tear rolled down Alexandra's left cheek as she stared for the umpteenth time at the small white object in her hand. It was a thin white strip with two red vertical bars in it. That only meant one thing - she was pregnant. Another tear rolled down her cheek as she looked at the pregnancy kit once again. She didn't understand how she could have been so careless. Everything about the pregnancy had started when she, in her drunk state, had offered herself to Baron. From there, her boss, Mrs. Wong had called and she had gone to the office on a Saturday. There at the office, she and her colleagues had been assigned tasks and given deadlines to submit the task. The task had been so cumbersome and had taken so much of her time, so that most times she came home so tired and worn out and all she needed was rest and sleep. "Shit, shit, shit!" Steven cussed thrice under his breath "Uh oh!" Alexandra mouthed as she got off Steven's laps "Speaking of the devil" She smirked "I was about to leave, you know. You just walked in at the wrong time" Alexandra said, facing Vandana as she rounded up knotting Steven's tie "Don't forget to take your lunch" Alexandra placed a kiss on Steven's cheek before grabbing her bag from the table and sashaying her way out of the office As she passed by Vandana who had chosen to stay silent which surprised her to her marrows, both ladies raked their eyes over each other, sizing each other up. Alexandra let out a short laugh before walking out of the office. The next minute saw Vandana in front of Steven's table. Tossing her bag angrily on the table, she sucked in a breath and flipped her hair backwards. "Are you just gonna stare at me or offer some explanation?!" CHAPTER 13
Darkness. Pitch darkness was all that Kane saw. As his almost lifeless body struggled to maintain its stance between reality and a totally different world he knew nothing about - most likely, ghost town, his forehead welcomed another bullet which shot right through his skull, maiming both hemispheres in his brain. Blood vessels were not spared. They bowed in obeisance to the bullet as it walked through their midst. The bullet finally completed its mission when it passed through Kane's occiput, creating a large hole afterwards, blood seeping out in large amounts. Shrill cries pierced the dark night as ladies made good use of their vocal cords. A pool party turned into a pandemonium as everyone ran helter skelter, scampering to safety. Brain damaged, eyes wide open in shock, Kane's now lifeless body fell forward into the pool, making a loud splash. That was his last moment on planet earth. He was dead and gone, never to return.
