Alex's POVWe walked out the front door and out to watch as our families were hard at work, building back from the remains of La Bruja's damages, and building our new home bigger and sturdier. Nicki and Jade were working with my Beta to build a library due east of the center of town, Jacke made a note that 'Preserving the knowledge and history of the past, helps us to build a better and brighter future' before we continued onward towards the front of the town. They built a large gate for people to come in and out of, with a walkway and a driveway for trucks and cars, and as we passed by many of my packmates waved hello."Hey guys, good to see you back in action!" I said as we passed by, Jacke waved as we made our way to the garage. We got in his truck with me at the wheel, and head off towards his warehouse, where he had said the remaining members of his family from the Necropolis were waiting. We drove through town and parked outside the warehouse before heading inside to see everyon

Jacke's POVWe descended the ladder into the cellar below with an empty jar, and once we got to the bottom Alex stood at the ladder to make sure no one else came in, while I made my way to the altar in the center. The ashes were still there in the pile that Lady Muerte had left them, and nothing had looked like it changed, but it was time for a change. I grabbed my knife from my coat and carefully moved the ashes from the alter into the jar, until there wasn't any left and twisted the lid on tight. I was going to take a trip later this week to the Gulf of Mexico and disperse the ashes into the water, symbolizing an end to our chapter of pain and suffering. That section of our life was over, and a new chapter was beginning to unfold before us, one with Alex by our side and a new family that was bigger and stronger than it had been before.I looked around the room and took in every last detail, from the chests full of coins we'd dug up over the years, to the racks of weaponry that we ne

Alex's POVI woke up later than I usually do to notice two things seemed off: One, Jacke wasn't in my bed, and Two, It was peaceful and quiet. With everything that was going on something smelled fishy, so I got up, got dressed, and left our room to head downstairs. Pete was in the kitchen drinking a cup of coffee, so I grabbed one myself before taking a seat next to him."Morning, Alex, what's going on with you?""Have you seen Jacke? He wasn't in bed when I woke up," I asked before taking a sip of my coffee and trying to not let my nerves get the best of me."Jacke? Yeah, we had a conversation earlier about the speech before he left to go find Mason, I presume to have the same kind of conversation.""Fucking hell, have mercy on me I just woke up. Did the conversation at least go well with the two of you?""Oh yeah, I think it went phenomenally. He got straight to the point and was very kind, all-be-it concerned about having to give a speech to the pack as a whole. He told me about ho

Alex's POVWe made our way back home hand-in-hand, cracking jokes and talking about what would change in Jacke's life now that he was my Luna. It wasn't anything groundbreaking, but he needed to know that he would need to be more careful about his lifestyle; Acting more in the shadows and not trying to cause a scene everywhere he went. He took it shockingly well, going so far as to explain that it wouldn't be difficult to make those kinds of changes with the decades upon decades worth of resources he'd built up."It won't be a drastic change, from the sounds of it, it would just mean that I'd have to do less of the leg work and live a more peaceful life by your side," He said squeezing my hand, and I would've been lying if I said that my heart didn't skip a beat."What did I ever do to deserve you, Pup?""Do I need to make a list? I think the most potent reason would probably be that you exist," He said chuckling as we made our way up the trail back home. It took a lot of willpower to

Jacke's POVAs I continued showing Pete around the basement, answering his questions as they came, I realized that I had come a long way since the times when I first placed these items here. If you had asked me a century ago if I would be willing to show this room to anyone outside my family, I would've choked you with your own hands for asking a stupid question. Yet, here I was, showing Pete these artifacts from my past as if I had known the man my whole life. We continued going through the room with many questions asked and answered, and finally arrived at the most recent artifacts I had stored down here."This is the sword that belonged to a nobleman I had killed a decade or so ago, he had a significant bounty on his head, and I was bored that day. I grabbed two of my family members, got in one of my trucks, and flew out to Europe; He had been abusing his money and political influence to further his ends, without any care in the world for how it had affected his 'subjects'," I said
