Why now? I raced along the path heading to my control center. I was helping Aura with diaper changes when the alarm went off. I knew it wasn't a dire emergency but I had to go. I knew Karn was lurking out there waiting for his moment to strike. I nearly ripped the door off the hinges when I realized I was letting my anger get the best of me. Inside, all eyes were on me. I looked down noticing bits of fur springing from my skin. "Alpha, what happened? Are you alright? Are the twins and Aura alright?" Valerie asked, fear on her face. "What? No, nothing happened, everything is fine." I tried to calm my wolf as I tried to get the fur to dissipate. "What is the alarm about? You said there was an attack?" I said coming back to my senses. "Yes, Alpha, our neighbors have suffered a huge attack. There is talk the entire pack may have been wiped out. The reports from our scouts said they had not found any survivors. It seems we may have lost another pack." "Who is it?" I waited, my wolf wa

The minutes seemed like hours as we waited for the convoy to arrive. I couldn't help but be on edge. I knew Luna Adina would never lie but maybe she had been hurt enough to lose her memory? I would have to wait till they arrived and see for myself. Aura was lying down on a cot I had brought in for her. The twins both slept in their bassinets. I hoped for her the reports were true, Luna Adina had indeed made a miraculous recovery. I heard the code word come through telling us the convoy was here. I had been pacing while I waited for them to arrive. I had various security checkpoints set up to ensure there was nothing that could lead the enemy to our location. As the convoy entered the tunnel leading into the underground bunker, I waited for the all-clear before I cautiously approached. Sitting in the front seat giving orders to my men was Luna Adina. She had indeed made a miraculous recovery. I watched as Kendall was carefully unloaded from the back of a truck and gently placed on a s

The moon was bigger than I remember. The last time I saw it I was standing with my mate, now I am alone. How could I have let this happen? I need her, I can’t live without her. I had never known what having a mate could feel until I found her. I had willed her to live when I found her that day. Now I had lost her and it is my fault. I looked down at the blood soaked sheet covering her. Her tiny body so still. She was chosen by the Moon Goddess to fulfill the prophecy. We had both been tricked but how? How had they gotten to her so easily? I had hidden her away from the world, how did they find her? I pulled the sheet down, I had to see her one last time. Aura lay unmoving, her eyes dull and lifeless. I leaned in to kiss her one last time. “Aura, no!”I sat up, a cold sweat dripping over my body. It had been a nightmare. Little hands gently touched my arm soothing me. “You ok?” She asked looking at me with those eyes that were now filled with worry, worry for me.“ I am now,” I told he

Aura's POVI woke up to find my Draven curled around me. The twins were sleeping soundly in their bassinet. I snuggled deeper against my mate. I let his scent soothe my worry. I couldn't help thinking about the young she-wolf locked in the prison. What if she was being hurt or worse? I wanted to go to her, to see for myself she is being cared for but that meant returning to the hell I had lived myself. I cringed as the memories started their relentless assault on my mind. I closed my eyes as I remembered the first time the guard had raped me. I have come so far from the scared little she-wolf I had been. Carefully I wiggled out of the grasp of my mate. I grabbed some clothes and threw them on, I quietly left the room. The twins were having bottles now with my milk, my body knew they needed to eat and was producing enough to feed a small army. I kissed them gently smiling as small smiles appeared on their lips before quickly disappearing again. I made my way to the door leading out of
