AUTHOR’S P.O.V. AFTER 6 YEARS LATER The pale morning light streamed softly into the hospital room, warming the white sheets and sterile walls. The faint beeping of machines echoed steadily in the background, a sound that had haunted Xavier for the last few hours. He sat by Alisia’s bedside, his large hand enveloping her fragile fingers, as though he were terrified that letting go for even a second might snatch her away again.
