"I know what I am," he said nonchalantly. “I always knew.” He looked at her from top to bottom. She slouched down on the chair, as if his gaze was poisonous. “It was me, because I thought differently,” Eric said. He watched the Kitten flinch. His words clearly hurt her feelings, but they were all true. The truth is painful for both of them. She had seen him as something else, something she thought was good. There was a time when he had the same thoughts as her. He never realized how much it meant to him, until it was no longer real. No one had ever acknowledged that he could be someone more than that, and yet he had just hurt the only person who could. Anyway, that's it. He wanted to go back to the time when he didn't know of her existence, the time when his life was only black and white, the gray area didn't matter.
