She lost track of the time after she discovered a movie theater room in the mansion. So for the next couple of hours, she stayed there enjoying every movie she could find. When it’s apparent that the guests have all left, that’s when she came out of her cave to eat and sleep. It’s already past two in the morning and the whole house is like a ghost town due to its uncanny silence.“Is the party over?” she whispered and peeked over the glass door towards the pool area. The whole place is already cleaned and back to its orderly fashion. After eating some leftover food in the fridge, she went upstairs ready to hit the hay. She didn’t bother to turn off the lights and just jumped right into the bed but instead of the usual soft covers that welcomed her, a hard and warm flesh instead greeted her. She jumped back and screamed but whoever is lying on the bed is quicker than her. He trapped her in his arms and covered her mouth and whispered to her ear.“Shut up. I’m trying to sleep here.”

Something hot is fanning her face despite knowing that the air-condition was blasting last night. She purred and snuggled closer to the heat and clung her leg to whoever was beside her who cleared his throat. Yes, someone cleared his throat. Yes. His.A man. She suddenly woke up. The realization became immediate. Her mind quickly pieced things up together and before she could pretend that she’s still asleep, her reflex was faster to pop her eyes open and scrambled away from Daemon who laid there staring at her. “Why are we on the floor? Did you do something to me last night?” his voice was accusing. She fixed herself before standing up and sitting on bed looking as grumpy as ever. “Look who’s talking! You’re the one who came here in my room and hugged me like a lovesick boy last night. You won’t let go of my hand no matter what I do! And what would I do to you? I’m not like you.”“Your room?” His brows raised. “It’s also my room.”She cocked her brows higher. “But you never sleep

“Are you deaf?! Bitch, answer my question or,” she poured the liquid on a glass of water on the table, “else you have to drink this.”“No, thank you.” She tried to stand up to escape these two women before they got more attention from the other table but the other woman put down her glass on the table and pulled her back into the seat. She extended her hand to peel off the mask off her but Devon quickly tied it back in place.“Did I tell you to refuse?” She tilted her big head towards the glass. “Drink.”“Or you can tell us if you’re a pimp or Daemon has been into some cheap laid these days. Come on, girl. Humor us.”Her hand tightened around the gun under the table. Devon almost lost her cool but she managed to pick it back up a second before it could drop on the floor. These girls! Would it be too much if she wanted to put a hole in these women’s heads? And what is it to them if Daemon wanted to do it with some women? Is he some kind of demigod they worship? Her mind went back int

Devon woke up the next day in a good mood. There’s no new memories but at least her relationship with Daemon improved a bit. They went to sleep without shouting or arguing hard even though she’s quite disappointed that he didn’t make a move on that cold night except for occasional hugs and rubbing of her back. Smiling before falling asleep beside her handsome dangerous husband is a good feeling, she reckoned. She’s been in a good mood for the whole week. “Alice, can you tell me what Daemon likes to eat?” she asked the head cook of the mansion one day. Alice is the only helper in the entire mansion who she senses doesn’t genuinely hate her. “Why? You’re planning to surprise your husband, Ma’am Devon?” she teased her.Giggling, she shook her head. “No, I’m just bored and I thought that I should explore this sudden role I landed. I mean I can’t do the usual things I do now. Can’t go out alone. Can’t do anything random. I’m so bored in this house so I decided to just make food for that

Daemon’s secretary, who is surprisingly a male brought her to his office in the penthouse of the Druft tower.“Ms. Devon, please don’t hesitate to call me through the intercom if you need anything.”“Thank you, Sean. I’ll call you when I need you.”After Sean left, Devon explored her husband’s office, which is definitely not your typical square room for business. Of course, she has expected this. The mafia boss who rules over the entire district would not just settle for an ordinary-looking workplace. In fact, this is nothing like your regular rich man’s office because it looks more like a gallery or a museum. The place is hugely spacious and you can freely run around without fear of breaking things up from arm’s length. The floor to ceiling walls hung paintings- commissioned, sold, and even bought on black market.“This is sick,” she whispered to herself when she came across a glass container in the middle of the room where a big body of a tree is displayed. “Daemon, you’re a one hea
