ALPHA XANDER’S POVMy paws hit the ground with a vengeance as I ran through the pack, the events of the day made the usual traffic around the road free. I was more than happy for that, not sure I would have had the patience to not trample upon people that wasted my time.I tried to pay attention to my surroundings while I ran but I found myself zoning out, still desperately trying to mindlink my sister and hear how she is doing. I couldn’t get through to her, it felt like I was reaching the wall of someone that never existed. I didn’t want to give that thought much truth. Because if that were the case, then I was most likely going to lose my mind and go on a killing rampage after that. Forget the damned wolves masking their scents, even if they removed their souls from their bodies in order to not be tracked, I was going to find them and I would kill every one of them. The unsteady beat of my heart filled my ears, along with the ringing in my head. I could see the pack house in sight

ADRIANA'S POVAt first, the whole place looked like it was covered with trees. The doors opened and I saw a straight dirt path that would lead me to the street. My heart jumped but I kept it down, telling myself I wasn’t going to celebrate now. I needed to get out of here first. I could celebrate when I'm far away from here.I ran out of the house, ignoring the burning in my feet. At this rate, I wouldn’t stop even if I were to catch on fire. I was finally seeing freedom and I embraced it.I passed by the doors, watching it close back in place after I got out. I stopped for a split second and smiled, finally. I was free.I ran down the road, not glancing back.ALPHA XANDER’S POVMy attention was split between making sure Daciana is alright and asking her where the hell Adriana is. I knew they were together last, after Adriana left my office, she went with her for breakfast. It felt like years ago that she was in that office and I was thinking of bending her over my desk and fucking h

ALPHA XANDER’S POVI’ve never heard Donovan this quiet in his entire life since I first met him when I was five, and running through the halls with my nannies following me around. He has always had something to say, but this time he chose to keep all his crazy thoughts to himself. I couldn’t say I was complaining. The only noise in the car was that of the engine running. The pain in my chest had intensified, reaching levels I didn’t know possible. If there was ever a physical representation of what it was like to have the life squeezed out of your heart, then it would be what I was experiencing right now. I held back the growl that was making it up my chest, Donovan’s hands tightened on the wheel. The issue at the pack was under control and things have gone back to normal, as normal as they could after an attack like that, totally unexpected. Save for those that were injured, no one actually died which was very impressive seeing how we weren’t prepared.God knows that was the last thi

ALPHA XANDER’S POVI stare down at Adriana in my arms, she is still smiling which should have annoyed me but did the absolute opposite. I pulled her closer to me, aware that I was being rough but also being unable to stop. It may just be my deranged mind but something told me she was enjoying it. Else, why the hell would she be smiling like I just fucking gifted her a kingdom?“If you two are done with your lover’s spattle, I’ll be in the pack.” Donovan’s bored voice didn’t make me look away from my unhinged looking mate in my arm. I distinctly hear the rattle of the keys as they fall to the ground. “Here’s the keys, I’d rather run back.” Again, I didn’t turn to look at him. He shifted right there and took off.I forgot I had called a meeting, I am definitely not going to attend that. I had a mate to teach a lesson for trying to leave. I was waiting for the anger to fully settle, I am angry, beyond livid but I was also calm for some weird reason. It’s like I inhaled something that was

ALPHA XANDER’S POVI’m surprised by how fast Adriana’s breathing steadies. She falls asleep right away which obviously makes me think she is just faking it. No one can even blame me for that. I got so close to losing her, albeit I would have found her in a week tops, like I said with Daciana, the time and effort that would go into it was what I was avoiding. I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep with the knowledge of her not being under the same roof with me.My thoughts get interrupted by the pack doctor’s mindlink. I give him permission to speak as I continue watching my mate. Listening to the steady rhythm of her heartbeat that confirmed she was sleeping and not just faking it.‘The reset was successful, alpha. He is still unconscious but he will make a full recovery.’‘When can he leave?’ I ask straight to the point. I just didn’t like the man being in my territory and I was hell bent on keeping peace and staying away from anything that might cause a war. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’
