CelineA full day has passed since Lor came and I am extremely busy trying to avoid him. My sisters, friends, and just about everyone in the pack house has unanimously agreed to make it difficult for him to finish his task within the three days and Annika has taken it upon her head to pioneer it. My scent has been distributed amongst all the rooms so it is difficult for him to track me by scent and I use the secret doorways to escape from my chambers or whoever's I'm in when he comes looking. I know, childish perhaps but I'm protecting myself. I know I shouldn't go back, I shouldn't listen to whatever he has to say but I also know he is my greatest weakness. I must avoid finding myself alone with him, or I will lose myself. "He almost tore into Constantine last night." Skye says excitedly. She gets stars in her eyes anytime she talks of Lor, and I know there is a little bit of hero worship going on there. Not a surprise that she is the only one that wants me to give him a second chan

CelineLor tackles me to the ground a split second before the bullets aimed right for me can hit. I fall hard, crushed under his hard body and wolves fall behind us, those that were not so lucky to escape the bullets. The porcelain white floors are immediately stained with red, and roars of pain and rage hit the roof. They have attacked me before, but never so blatantly, or so publicly. "Get off me!" I shove at Lor, desperate to see if my family is fine. Skye! She was around the area the machine gun came from. "Stay down!" He snarls and doesn't budge an inch. I can't see a thing, I can't turn my neck to check either and the goddamn machine gun is still spraying bullets. "Skye! I need to find Skye.""Stay down!" He commands, stilling my wriggling and then he is up. My heart drops to the bottom of my feet and I instinctively grab at him only to catch air. It is only a split second later I realise the machine gun has stopped and it is that short period before they reload. I leap up

CelineI make my way out of Father’s chambers to find Lor waiting outside. He’s still leaning on the wall, staring into space out of the window and unnoticed, I press a hand to my chest to still my heart and watch him. He is as beautiful as ever, in an exotic manner that still takes my breath away. It feels so wrong seeing him in these halls, the same ones I grew up in. He is damn tall and broad and his commanding presence fills the hallway so it looks like he’s taking up more space than he should. His hair has grown out longer since the last time I saw him but what hasn’t changed is my reaction to him. He sees me standing there gawking at him and straightens, then crosses the distance over towards me. This once, I go eagerly. I sink into his arms and let his strong arms hold me to him, like he is holding my life together. The adrenaline rush from the attack, from the questioning after has not yet left my system and when I look up into his face, such visceral longing sweeps through

NeemMia corners me in the hallway, eyes glittering with excitement. “Where have you been?!” She asks, gripping my arm. I wince at her strength and sign. “Why, what’s going on?” “You’ve forgotten we are going to watch the execution have you?” Oh! I actually forgot about that. Somehow, my days have been pretty pre-occupied. I’ve been running from one thing to the other without pause. “That’s right. But the bell has not tolled.”“It will soon, silly. And if you want to avoid the stampede and get the front seat, you had better start coming.”I’m not sure I want the front seat, to be up close and personal with the person being hacked up. Mia on the other hand looks like it’s the front seat or nothing.Suddenly, there is loud tolling of bells that makes me wince and Mia claps her hands excitedly. “It’s time! Come on!”I change direction and follow Mia out to the arena. “What could the prisoner have done to warrant the death sentence?” I ask and she shrugs. “Who knows. He got on the

Celine“The demon wolf must be punished.” The wiry male says, practically vibrating on his feet. “He was welcomed as a guest to this pack and he has abused our hospitality to target one of our allies. What is his purpose if not to destroy our goodwill with the Night Jewel pack?”I stifle a groan. He is the ambassador from said pack and he dares a lot, standing before my father and demanding for Lor to be punished considering his scent reeks with fear and he hasn’t glanced at Lor for even a second.“I disagree.” I say, stepping forward. From the expression on his face, my father is surprised at my interception, and so is Annika but I can’t very well take my words back. “Derille was overstepping his boundaries as an old friend, disrespecting both me and my mate. Lor stepped in only to protect my dignity and he has every right to. In my opinion, Derille should fall on his knees and thank the goddess he didn’t punch his heart out of his chest. It is no secret how viscerally wolves react w
