Anne didn't know how, but she slept off not too long after. When she woke up, Asher still hadn't returned to the room. There was some music playing from somewhere in the house but when she went downstairs, she didn't see anyone outside their room. The cook was making breakfast, but Anne was really in no mood for chitchat which she knew the woman was good at, so she avoided the kitchen. Asher was in his study as she expected, turned over his computer, working even on a Sunday morning. He didn't turn around when she came in even though she knew he'd heard her. What was it about him that attracted children to him even when he currently looked mean, Anne wondered.
