"Congrats, Kristen. You're two weeks pregnant," Doctors Christopher breaks this news to me with a huge smile on his face."What?" I shiver-jolt upon hearing this. Is there something wrong with my ears or I misheard him?"You're pregnant," he says again."No," I disagree, shaking my head, "perhaps you brought the wrong test result." My hands are already balled into small fists as my heart keeps doing dangerous backflips in my chest.Doctor Christopher just smiles and nudges the test result to my side of the table so I can take a look at it.I hesitate because I want to think this is an expensive joke because I came here this morning to run some tests thinking I was ill. It was still Doctor Christopher who suggested the pregnancy test, something which I nonchalantly agreed to.Picking up the result, I raise it to my face and let my eyes skim through it.My first and last name is written on it, and cold runs through me that I shudder because it's almost like I am thrown into a bathtub

Calhoun's POVI've been in a frenzy mode since Kristen told me about her pregnancy. It came up when I was least expecting but I am still overjoyed.Thinking about a miniature version of me has this huge smile on my face. I will do everything to protect both Kristen and the baby. Kristen is still so hardheaded, I get that she doesn't want to live with me because Natalie is in the picture. Still, I want to take care of her because she's not alone anymore. Upon reaching home that evening, I asked the servants to prepare dinner for both me and Natalie, since we needed to talk. "It's been so long we've sat on the same table like this," Natalie has a small sad smile resting on her face as she pulls the chair backward so she can sit. I take a good look at her, she seems to have lost like ten pounds. Looks skinny, unwell. Pale"How are you?" I intertwine my fingers on the table."I thought you'd never ask," Natalie stares at me with something like hope in her eyes."You don't look so goo

Calhoun's POV"You seem to be lacking understanding here, do you think Kristen will just forget about her mother to be with you?" Bruce pants and puffs as he stares at me with displeasure."I don't even know," I rasp out."You're not getting the point and you cannot understand Kristen because you aren't in her shoes," my beta holds my gaze with that frown still on his face."So you think blame-shifting me for her mother's condition is the right thing to do?" I uplift a brow at him. We're at the construction site where two pack houses are getting built. "Trust me, some girls would have done worse. Kristen is just a good person, she cares deeply about her mom despite how this woman has been cruel to her.""What do you mean?" I look at Bruce, wondering if he's just bluffing."Ah, she told me never to tell anyone," Bruce in turn avoids my gaze."Speak!" I command."Okay, okay," he holds his hands up in defense, "I came to figure something wasn't right on the evening of our pack run. Both

Kristen's POV"I don't think this is a good idea," Whining, I turn to head back inside when they pull me backward."Only one drink, Kristen. It won't hurt the baby," Maddy urges, hooking her arm around mine.My friends are not to be trusted. Their one glass of beer equals seven and one glass of tequila is ten."I just don't have a good feeling about this," I shake my head, but my feet are moving because Maddy is dragging me along with her to the car."C'mon, it's been so long we've had a girls' night out. Our exams are coming next week and it'd be torturous to the brain to read all that load of books.""Fine, just one drink and then you'll drop me off at home. Calhoun doesn't want me staying out.""Yes, Luna queen. As you wish," Sapphire gives me a mocking two-finger salute.Chuckling, I let them pull me into the car for the drive to the club.Maddy is in the shotgun and Sapphire is driving. I'm sitting in the back seat because I tend to feel dizzy and nauseous from time to time and

Calhoun's POV"Killing an Alpha and his men during your fake funeral is uncalled for," Elder Festus has displeasure on his face when he points this out."Let's not talk about how he faked his death," this is from another Elder who is seated next to him at the large table in the council hall. They sought my presence a few hours ago, only to throw blame in my face."Your behavior is totally unacceptable, Alpha Calhoun," Elder Festus continues and Bruce puts his hand on his mouth to snicker. While I don't find anything funny here. They're starting to become a pain in the ass."Alpha Ezra tried to kill me first, the first thing he did after two years of not seeing ourselves, was to invite me over and poison me.""Still you could've looked for a proper way to handle things," Elder Festus still objects to me."What if I had died?" I ask, glaring at each and every one of them. This question is enough to shut them up."None of you would have been here with this topic, you would have made some
