She held her breath and pushed herself up, getting her head out of the water. "Duncan?!" She gasped, taking in deep breaths at the presence of oxygen. Her eyes were sore as the result of the water that swam into them. She spat a mouthful of it, using her hand to wipe off the water residue from her face. "Here I come!" His voice reverberated throughout the lake, sending birds out of their trees. Erin glanced at him, watching as he folded himself into a ball and jumper into the water. It rippled, splashing everywhere, even on Erin, resulting in the spread of goosebumps over her entire body. A smile forced its way onto Erin's lips, but she bit her bottom lip to seal it. Erin scanned the lake for Duncan, but she didn't see him. She turned, searching warily for him. "Duncan?" Erin voiced softly, darting her eyes from side to side. "What is this game of hide and seek you play?""Missing me already?" Duncan questioned, spring from under the water and encasing her in a warm embrace. H

Duncan Mirthon "And who is that?" He inquired, getting off her and staring at the bush with a scrunched up face. "Lord of all of my kind," Erin panicked, pulse racing. "You should leave.""Why?" Duncan questioned. His jaw grew tight as he narrowed his gaze at the bush. "He will kill you," Erin whispered, rising to her feet and holding Duncan's hand. "You should leave.""But, would it not be a good thing for me to tell him you are indeed mynmate?" Duncan tore his gaze from the distance. Erin blanched, furiously shaking her head in disagreement. "He would not spare you. I am sure he is with his men. You are not with any, and I do not want to lose you again, Darcy." Her voice shook as she channelled a pleading gaze at him. "Who is this Darcy you speak of?" Duncan's frown deepened with the knitting of his brows. Erin snapped her head to the right, and Duncan mirrored her movement, sighting thousands of bats flying from afar. The birds flew away from their trees, screeching. "Leave

Duncan's forehead puckered, and he squinted his eyes, waiting for her to speak further. "Did you see or notice anything?" Duncan asked her, and she shook her head as they made their way into the palace. "Nothing enough to back up my suspicion, but the last time I saw her, she was doing alright," Lara stated, stopping in front of her door and folding her arms against her chest. Duncan halted, arching his brows with hands akimbo. "What are you insinuating?" "I am suspecting someone knows what happened to Evin. That is what I am insinuating and that someone is one of us," she whispered, throwing furtive glances around the hallway to ensure no one was watching. "Are you saying there might be a witch in our midst?" Duncan questioned further. Lara was about to speak, but she snapped her mouth shut when she caught sight of something a few meters away. Duncan traced her gaze to the shadow of someone approaching them, someone feminine. They walked quietly, only to see Calypso striding i

Erin Grendel She rushed into the water, backing Mark, who was now only a few meters away from her. Her skin crawled, and she splayed her fingers over her chest to stop it from plummeting. The hairs on her nape rose, and she turned only to see Mark staring at her with his eyes narrowed into slits. "What are you doing here?" Erin asked, knitting her brows into a frown. "What are you doing here?" Mark asked back, averting his gaze elsewhere. He glanced around the place, scanning it for what was only best known to him. "What does it look like I am doing?" Erin fired back, sizing him up. He was dressed in a white shirt and black pants. His hair was let down his shoulders, swishing in the air every time he spun. He sniffed the air, angling his head to the route that Duncan had taken. "Who was here?" Mark's eyes hardened, and his voice deepened with jealousy. "What do you mean?" Erin fetched some water into her palms and downed it on her head. "Where is he?" Mark continued throw

Duncan Mirthon His eyes grew misty as he watched her open her mouth in a silent scream and glanced down at the arrow that pierced through her chest. "Dun-Duncan," she stammered, blood trailing down her chest, soiling her dress. Duncan's hands began to shake, and the bow fell from his band, landing on the sandy ground. He lifted his legs and rushed to her side. Her body grew limp, and her knees buckled. "Lara!" Duncan exclaimed, catching her in his arms when she fell. She groaned breathlessly, shivering in his hands. "What are you doing here?" Duncan asked, searching her face for answers with anxiety swelling in his heart. "Why did you follow me?""I-I-" Lara croaked, gasping for air. Duncan glanced down at her chest. The arrow had pierced through where he supposed her heart was situated. His panic spiked, and sweat glistened on his forehead. Slowly, green veins began to grow visible on her face. Duncan carried her in his arms and charged out of the woods, running towards the o

Erin Grendel Erin threw a sceptical gaze at Thorlon, scanning his emotionless face to detect what was going through his mind. She peered at his forehead, squinting her eyes. "Damn it!" Erin exclaimed in her mind as she got a sharp pain, stabbing at her head. She couldn't penetrate into his mind. His mind was foggy, and it threw her into a mini disorientated state. Her vision blurred, and her pulse raced. She lowered her gaze to the floor, placing her hand on a small rock for support. After a few seconds, she was back to normal, and her vision cleared. "I do not trust him," Erin's thoughts whirled in her head. "What exactly does he want in return?" Her heart was constricted in her chest at the sad sight of Duncan and his dying sister. "I hope Thorlon would keep this a secret between us and not tell my parents," Erin thought to herself, beads of anxiety broke out on her forehead in form sweat. "But he knew the last time he visited the palace with the other gods. Perhaps he is not

Duncan Mirthon "How do you feel?" Duncan asked Lara with wary eyes. Taking in a deep breath, Lara looked up from the lake, meeting her brother's inquisitive eyes. "A lot better than before," Lara answered weakly, mustering a small smile. Duncan grasped her arm, pulling her in for a warm hug. "Thank the moon goddess." He withdrew from the hug, and after a few seconds, his lips fell into a thin line, and his brows kissed each other into a deep frown. "What the hell were you doing in those woods?" Duncan's grip tightened around her shoulder. "Alone!"Lara flinched, and her pulse visibly raced in her throat. "I was not alone." Duncan's jaw ticked, and anger coursed through his veins even more. "What?" "Duncan," Erin's soft voice called out to him, but he didn't pay any attention to her. "Who were you with?" Duncan questioned, fuming. "Egor again?" "No. I was following you." Lara shook her head, whimpering, "You are hurting my arm." "Duncan," Erin called again, sounding stern.

Duncan ran to Hildergard with his palms rolled into fists, hitting Evin's dirty face to prevent her from biting Hildergard's hand. "Evin, please!" Hildergard shrieked, and horror creased her forehead, stretching across her face, turning it crimson. "Guards!" Duncan yelled. "Get the leash!" Evin's fangs elongated, and saliva dripped down her sharp teeth. Her eyes burned with the desire to kill, and her nose flared. Duncan shoved a finger into her eye, and she growled, but it didn't stop her from holding Hildergard tight. "Hang on," Duncan said to Hildergard, assuring her of her safety.A guard charged into the dungeon with the demon's leash, flapping his hand and striking Evin with it. Evin growled and then screamed, sounding like a whistle as she released Hildergard and staggered back with shivering hands. The leash burnt her skin, and her chest rose and fell. "Stay back!" The guard exclaimed, striking the bars with the leash that glowed a bright shade of red. Evin's face cont

Erin Grendel Erin packed her hair up, but after striking numerous poses, she decided to let the hair flow freely down her back. A knock on her door caused her to glance at it from her mirror. A slight frown creased her brows. "Who could that be when I specifically told them I would be sleeping and would not want any disturbances?" I thought, turning to face the door. "And who dares to disturb my sleep?" I asked, glaring at the door with a gaze enough to burn it down. "Erin?" Lola called, and I turned back to face the mirror. "Come in, Lola," I sounded like there was something lodged in my throat. She strode into my room with hands akimbo. Her eyes locked with my reflection, and she said, "I want to go out again." Her eyes held a gleam of delight in them, and she grinned from ear to ear."Take me out again. The atmosphere was so nice and," she paused to twirl lightly on the balls of her feet. "The lake was magnificent.""No, Lola. That is too dangerous. I can not take you out,

Duncan Mirthon "Are you sure you want to be claimed?" Duncan inquired, and Erin nodded. Duncan smiled to himself, reaching for her neck and using his nose to rub her delicate skin. He shoved his tongue out of his mouth, licking her sweet but salty skin. Erin angled her head back, moaning softly. Duncan bit her neck, and she let out a low whimper. He ran his hands all over her body, memorising every curve with his palms. "I love you, Erin," Duncan muttered, claiming her lips and kissing her intensely. He sucked her bottom lip, deepening the kiss by sticking his tongue into her mouth. "Oh, Duncan," Erin moaned with their lips still pressed against each other, moving like a worm underneath him. "Yes, baby," Duncan answered with a gravelly voice as their tongues fought for dominance. He pulled away from her lips and pressed a wet kiss on her jaw, trailing his tongue down her neck, nibbling on it. She moaned, rubbing his back with her fingers. His heart thrummed in his chest whe
