Lexi’s POV The hand never came down to my face and I slowly opened my eyes to check what had happened when I saw Ivan still glaring down at me.I could’ve sworn that I saw his expression soften but it was crystal clear that he was still angry from the way his breathing paced to the way his muscles tensed.I could feel his angry breath on my face until he left to kick the small wooden centre table, making jump and yelp in fear as I covered both of my ears in utter fear. What have I done?Turning his back on me, the hairs on the back of my neck began to prickle as I watched Ivan rubbed his in frustration. His tall figure stiffened and for the first time I felt like Ivan was trying to control the anger he felt towards me and it was probably because he wasn’t trying to ruin his reputation. The sight of his muscles rippling under his suit quickened my pulse. How could I even notice that?!His tall figure turned and started heading towards me, making it hard for me to swallow the bile that

Ivan’s POV“Remember that you’re not allowed to leave until you’re done sorting the documents out with no mistakes.” I said through gritted teeth as my blue eyes peered into her frustrated brown eyes.I couldn’t miss the flicker of tears that was hanging onto the side of her eyelashes, “yes Sir.” Her voice was so low that I almost couldn’t hear her.“Why are you still standing before me!” I yelled, my voice causing a roaring effect that she jumped before scampering out of my sight to pick up the papers that were scattered on the floor.I knew that there was no way that Lexi would be able to concentrate on the job I’d asked her to do but the plea on her face when she stared at me, her eyes begging me to allow her to come made something come alive in me but I wasn’t doing this for pleasure.Or maybe I was doing this for my own pleasure but definitely not hers and if anything I wanted to torture her, I wanted to hear her scream my name and beg for permission to release the liquid that ha

Lexi’s POV“Oh No, no, no.” I cried as my alarm woke me up from my deep slumber, I still had a lot of work to do and I dared to sleep off?Staring at the files in fear, I started working on it as rapidly as I could and I knew that my fast wouldn’t be fast enough because Ivan would soon be in the office.Continuing my job anyways, I tried really hard to double check the ones I’d done last night because I was seriously sleepy and I needed to make sure that there was no mistake before handing them all to Ivan.I was still trying to double check and go through the pile of papers in front of me when my pen fell off my hand. What is wrong with me?Weak and tired, I bent to pick up my pen and that was when I noticed the jacket on the floor, I recognized it because it was the same one Ivan wore yesterday. But why is it under my desk and what was it doing there?Picking it up, I found myself bringing it up to my nose and Ivan’s fresh scent hit me harder than it ever had even when he was around

Lexi’s POVEmbarrassed, I quickly averted my gaze and looked away as I rummaged through the closet. Everything in there wasn’t office friendly and I really tried to find an appropriate outfit but most of what’s here are lingeries and short skirts and crop tops.“I…. I’m sorry but I don’t think I can wear any of these here. They’re inappropriate.” I stammered as I spoke.Sighing, Ivan stood and walked with so much grace into the room as he stretched his hand towards the closet and pulled one hanger out.“Well, you have to wear something or you’ll go to the meeting with your towel.” He pointed out as he shoved the outfit at me before walking out to continue with his work.I’d completely forgotten about the meeting and I was supposed to be the one reminding him about it. Looking at the black short skirt and red shirt, I shrugged and put it on.What can possibly go wrong? He picked it out for me.Dressing up, I looked at the mirror and my jaw dropped. I honestly looked more like a hooker

Lexi’s POVObediently, I stood from the floor and staggered. My vision had already become blurry but whose vision would still remain clear after the multiple kicks, hair pulling and flinging across the room that I’d endured?Ivan picked up what seemed like a remote and pushed a button on it making the entire room become dark all of a sudden. The glasses suddenly became tinted and I could see everyone outside but I was so sure that no one out there would be able to see what was going on inside here.Fear gripped me and my entire body became so cold that I could feel my blood slowly beginning to dry up.What does he want to do?Whatever he had in mind I knew wouldn’t be anything good and not only that, I felt like he was going to hurt me, like he was going to do something really horrible to me.“Darlene,” he called the girl sweetly and I felt a sense of jealousy, he had never called my name like that before and we’ve spent months together.Does he really hate me that much? Am I really n

Lexi’s POVIt’s been months already and things still haven't changed between Ivan and I. He has made my life more miserable in months than my stepfather has in years.I’d contemplated running away but there was nowhere I could go to that Ivan won’t catch up with me. I also can’t beg for mercy to leave the marriage because the term years for our contract marriage hasn’t even gotten to the stage where I could ask him to change his mind.Sniffling after getting another share of Ivan’s anger at the office today, I tried to concentrate on the work I was doing when the door to our office flung open.Ivan walked in with Ansel and it has also been months but he still hasn’t gotten to like me yet. Reece was the only one who liked and tried to put me into consideration.Smiling at him, I tried to be friendly but he only ignored me as he walked with Ivan to his table. Placing the papers on the table for Ivan to go through, Ansel told him about the investor that he would be meeting later today an

Ivan’s POV“Congratulations.” A male voice brought me back to the present and I turned to see one of the investors behind me. I’d gotten so engrossed with watching Lexi leave that I forgot that I was still surrounded by a lot of people.“Thank you,” I responded as we both clinked our glasses, “I promise not to disappoint you and those who have put their trust in us.” I added with a smile that he returned. We spoke for a while and I had to have another meeting with the entire board of the company’s directors. I’d been nervous on my way here because I would usually bring Reece along and she handled things perfectly but Lexi exceeded my expectations. The meeting ended and they decided to throw the party till late at night but I wasn’t really present, I couldn’t stop thinking about the elevator, the speech and now CassianTech is becoming bigger than it already is.The party became too crowded and I couldn’t stay there a minute longer. I've always hated business parties but I never felt so

Lexi’s POV“Where is my son?” Charlotte asked as soon as she got in and I’d wanted to tell her that Ivan isn’t home yet. I left him at the party and I knew that he was supposed to be back by now but I didn’t think he was home.“He’s not home yet and I don’t know when…” I was still trying to explain to her when I felt a resounding slap on my cheek. She just slapped me when I’ve done literally nothing to her.My vision immediately became blurry and for a moment all I could see were tiny white lights before my vision came back to its normal state. The girl she was standing with seemed to be unbothered as she kept scrolling through her phone and when she finally decided to pay heed to me, I wished she hadn’t said anything.“Who is she, Charlotte?” She asked in the most disdainful voice ever, “and why is she here?” She added. My palm couldn’t leave my cheek and I could still feel the hotness from the slap which made it easy for me to know that my cheek had gotten really red.Standing ther

Lexi’s POV“It’s fine, you’re fine,” I said to myself as I tried to keep my tears at bay, “what is wrong with you?! He doesn’t even love you!” I gave myself the reality check but none of that seemed to be working.None of what I was doing seemed to be working as I was breaking inside, my breathing had paced and I clutched my chest while tapping it slowly trying to regulate my breathing.I couldn’t believe what I’d just heard but maybe if I hadn’t gone to eavesdrop rudely I wouldn’t have heard all of this.My entire being was tearing apart inside and I felt like someone had just dropped a bomb on me. I knew that I shouldn’t even be hurt but I just couldn’t help myself.Laying on my bed, I could feel the hot stinging tears at the back of my eyes that I’m trying so hard to not let loose. I tried, I really tried to act like I wasn’t fazed, to act like none of what is going on in this house matters to me but even that doesn’t seem to work either.I shouldn’t even be this hurt, if anything

Lexi’s POV A very big part of me wished that the contract on my table, staring right at me, was going to be a termination paper of the existing contract between us but things took a different turn when I opened it up.What the hell am I staring at?It was not a termination of contract but it was something different, an entirely different kind of contract.“Sign it.” He growled, his words coming out just between his teeth and I could feel his anger. The paper in front of me was not only unbelievable, it was also disgusting but what has ever gone right in my life?Lifting up my gaze to meet him, I stared directly into his angry glazed eyes as he raised an eyebrow, probing me to just sign the papers. His eyes were extremely cold, I noted his set face and it was clamped and his eyes were fixated on me, bullying me and asking me to dare him by not signing the papers. There was a suspicious line at the corner of his mouth and despite not knowing what it was, it aroused me in the worst poss
