As Amelia walked out of Riverbay Residence, she swept her gaze over the place she had lived in for three years. She had moved out a month ago and had only just returned. The villa looked the same as before. However, the excitement she used to feel for this place was gone."Madam, Mr. Prescott asked me to give you a ride," John said after stopping the car beside her.She was just about to refuse when he suddenly said, "It's pretty difficult to get a cab around here. If you want to get outside, it will be a long walk. Plus, it's dark now. It's not safe for you to be alone."Without much hesitation, she nodded and got into the car.Liam was upstairs. He felt inexplicably annoyed as he watched Amelia leave.Amelia used to wait for him every evening in the past. For the past month, he had returned to an empty and cold house instead.Even the bed lacked her faint scent. For the first time ever, Liam had trouble sleeping that night while Amelia slept soundly.Amelia went to work as u

Amelia smacked Liam's hand away from her arm."If you find me so disgusting, why bother touching me? Aren't you afraid of getting your hands dirty?" she said. The pain and anger she felt made her forget to fear him. His words felt like knives cutting into her heart. Each cut hurt her deeply. In truth, Liam had regretted what he said the moment he saw that she was on the verge of tears. Even so, his pride wouldn't let him admit it.Amelia's rebuke only provoked him further."Fine! You're really something, aren't you? I'd like to see how you're going to stay alive without my protection!"Ava had a bone to pick with Amelia, after all. If Liam hadn't been around to defend her, Amelia would've lost her job at the company. Was she really this naive? Did she honestly think the outside world was better than Riverbay Residence?Liam was frustrated. He decided to get a group of friends together to play poker at the club. While they were playing, a few women came in and sat next to each of them.

When Amelia saw that Liam called her, she felt a wave of complex emotions fill her.She genuinely couldn't figure out the man's intentions. He would come to see her from time to time, sometimes angry and sometimes not. It was becoming hard for her to keep up with his unpredictable behavior. As such, she decided that it might be better to avoid him altogether. While she was browsing job listings online, someone rang her doorbell. She opened the door with confusion and was met with a familiar face. She initially thought that she was just seeing things and planned to shut the door. However, Liam was quick. He managed to slip inside before she closed the door."Is this how you usually treat your guests?" he asked.Amelia felt a little embarrassed by the question. "What brings you here?" she asked with an awkward smile."Why didn't you answer my call?" he asked. It turned out that Liam had come knocking at her door because she hadn't answered his call. He had asked her that question

A dull pain struck Amelia in the heart. She paused for a moment before heading back up the stairs."Madam, what are you doing here? Are you thirsty?" A maid who had just come out of the kitchen saw her and called out. Amelia stopped and looked downstairs to see Ember approaching with a cold smile."Since you're not asleep yet, why don't we have a little chat?" she said.Caught in the act of eavesdropping, Amelia felt flustered. As she followed Ember, Liam's gaze was fixed on her. It made her avoid eye contact with him. She didn't understand why she feared him so much, especially since she hadn't done anything wrong."Liam, it's been a while since you've visited. Why don't you spend some time with your father in the study room and play a game of chess?"This seemed like a ploy to separate Amelia from Liam so that Ember could have a private conversation with Amelia.Amelia glanced at Liam and hoped that he would stay. She had just met Ember for the first time, yet she could alread

Amelia's heart leaped into her throat as Liam's hand moved."What's he planning to do?" she thought. She didn't know why, but she felt a mix of anticipation and fear.Just as his hand was about to reach her chest, she grabbed onto it tightly. "Let's just … go back to sleep, okay? You have work tomorrow!"Her heart pounded furiously in her chest, and she dared not look at him. She kept her eyes closed but could still sense his lingering gaze on her.Eventually, he let out a soft chuckle. For reasons unknown, he ended up complying and laid down to sleep.Even so, Amelia couldn't relax completely. She still had a firm grip on Liam's hand. She was afraid that he might suddenly change his mind and do something inappropriate.Liam was the first to wake up the next morning. He moved a little and realized that someone was hugging his arm.He couldn't help but smile as he looked at the delicate face next to him. When Amelia was quiet, everything around him seemed so beautiful.Amelia
