“I’m in front of your apartment,” was the response as Ellen picked up the phone. She stared at the door to the apartment in horror.“What? Felix, you’re downstairs? Are you serious?” Ellen asked in disbelief."Yes, I am, Ellen,” Felix replied.“I need to see you; you promised, remember, and I have given you enough time already,” Felix replied.Ellen was hesitant in her reply as she said, “Not now, Felix, just go; I’ll see you when..." but Felix cut her off.“When? Ellen, it’s been two weeks since you’ve been holed up in that apartment of yours. I’m only not coming upstairs because of your mom, except you want me to come right up; it’s fine by me,” Felix said with a note of finality in his voice.“Okay, okay, fine, I’ll come down, but not right now; find a place to wait,” Ellen replied, ending the call without waiting for a response.Ellen knew he was not joking about coming up, but she wasn’t ready to deal with him in her mom’s presence.********Leo walked into his office in Manhatta

Leo’s heart skipped and picked up pace as soon as he saw her legs step out of the elevator.“Ellen?” Leo muttered to himself as he slowly raised his head, his eyes following the length of her body.By the time Leo’s eyes got to her face, she was already standing in front of him."Hello, Leo,” she said with a smile on her face.Leo’s eyes turned unreadable as he replied, “Hello Sandra, what are you doing here?”Sandra looked dashing in her outfit; she had dressed to impress, and she was not so pleased by Leo’s plain reaction.“Am I not allowed into your office any longer?” Sandra asked quietly.“It’s already the end of work, Sandra; how did you even get up here?” Leo asked her as he opened his office door for them to go into the office.“I saw Mr. Phillips, and he told me you’re still in the office.” Sandra replied as they walked to the lounge and had their seats.Leo sat down and unbuttoned his suit button as he closed his eyes for a second. He had been thinking about Ellen and had as

Ellen stared at her mom, trying to explain what really happened as best as she could without revealing who was responsible for the pregnancy. “Mom, stolen documents were found under my desk, and no one would believe that I am innocent,” Ellen explained. “Oh, my god, Ellen, how did that happen?” Mrs. Grater asked, and her expression was full of shock. “I don’t know, Mom; I didn’t do it; I am sure someone put it there intentionally,” Ellen replied as she sat up. “What did your boss say? Did he not believe you also?” Mrs. Grater asked, still not understanding why her daughter would be sent away from work because of another person’s mistake. “Mom, he didn’t have to…” Ellen was saying this when her phone rang. The sound of it ringing pierced the silence around them as it vibrated on the bedside table. “Oh god, not tonight; I don’t want to speak with anyone today,” Ellen muttered. “You have to, baby girl; what if it has to do with a new job?” Mrs. Grater asked as she extended her hand

“Just like you once gave yourself to me,” Leo said in a calm, quiet, and emotionless voice as he finally walked away without looking back at Ellen.Ellen staggered back, his words punching the air out of her. How could he say that about her?“Hey, I was just about to come get you,” Felix said as Ellen came down the stairs.“You’re ready to go home?” Felix asked, and Ellen nodded in affirmation as she picked up her purse from the couch she had been lying on earlier.“Why are you in such a hurry? You look like a cat got your tongue,” Sandra said from her seat in a corner of the living room.Ellen turned angry eyes at her before walking out of the house, with Felix right behind her.“What was that about Ellen? What happened upstairs?” Felix asked as he drove Ellen home.Without any preamble, Ellen blurted, “I told Leo we were together, Felix.”“What?” Felix exclaimed, surprised that she would do that.“Well, I guess that’s my answer to your proposal, Felix,” Ellen said, looking out her s

“What!” Leo shouted, standing up suddenly from his seat. His eyes widened in disbelief as he processed what Alex had just said. His face was unreadable as he looked at Alex, waiting for him to reply."I think we just pissed off a senator," Alex repeated.Leo could not believe what he just heard. His hotel had the best customer service. A suspicious feeling settled in the pit of his stomach."How did that happen, Alex? How?" Leo asked in a hard voice. His face was hard and calm as he waited for Alex to fully explain the situation. The tension caused by the news was heavy in the air, and Leo tried to calmly comprehend what could have caused the situation."We received information that there was a dissatisfied customer with the hotel," Alex explained. "We treated it like it was a regular guest; we had no idea it was the senator himself," Alex continued."How could you have no idea? Why was a follow-up not done personally?" Leo asked.puzzled by the unexpected event, "And what were the ma
