Seeing Russell’s sincerity, Darcy was willing to give it a try. “All I can do is arrange an appointment. It depends on whether Mr. Witterson has the time. If not, I might not be much help, too,” she answered. “I’m grateful enough for the help either way, Ms. Quint, and still appreciate your assistance,” Russell said and smiled, visibly pleased by her response.Darcy believed Russell was eager to set up a branch office here in Westeros, and wanted to inform Edmund, or had other plans for the meeting. However, she did not delve into the idea and simply wanted to help since they were business partners, and it would only improve their relationship. Darcy called Luca in. “Can you call Mr. Witterson’s assistant and ask for an appointment? Tell him a guest from the North State wants to meet him if he has the time,” she said. Luca was slightly confused. She thought Russell had come here to work with them. Yet, now he had requested through Darcy that he wanted to meet Edmund. Tho

“You are too kind. I’m just trying to help others after what I’ve been through,” Darcy said, then gave Russell a serious look. She had a strange feeling that Russell’s identity might not be as simple as it appeared. He seemed eager to secure a connection to the Witterson Corporation and was clearly more ambitious than a typical department manager.Darcy’s hands were tied, so all she could do was arrange a meeting for him to meet Edmund. As for whether he could strike a deal, it would depend on his pitch and background. “You are indeed a kind person,” Russell said. He looked at her, wondering how she would arrange the dinner later. “Since you are new here, let me arrange dinner with Mr. Witterson. We have to show our hospitality, after all,” Darcy said before looking at Luca. “Pick a place that Mr. Witterson frequently visits and get a secluded place for us to talk,” she said. She looked at Russell and asked, “Are there any requests?” Since she had decided to help, she

“Who is that?” Kaze snuck up on Luca from the back and surprised her. He came to work as usual, having been busy until now. So he took a break to get himself a drink when he saw a young man come out of Darcy’s office. It was nothing worth his attention, actually. Darcy was a busy person. She had to deal with clients, have meetings with employees, and had many other matters to attend to. It was normal for people to go in and out of her office. However, the young man looked unusual. Kaze noticed that his facial expression was stiff, as if he were wearing a mask. He did not overthink it because he thought it was a recent fashion trend, where people chose to have surgeries to look better. Sometimes, a surgery on the face might make the expression stiff, so he was not overly concerned. Then, he overheard the conversation between Russell and Jenny and realized the man was asking around, seemingly prying for information. With that in mind, he went to Luca after Russell had

“Ma’am, you really want to meet Mr. Witterson with Mr. Hark tonight?” Luca asked. “It’s fixed. How can I not go? Russell might not be our partner yet, but we can’t afford to risk losing the potential with the company he represents. You should know why I am doing this. “It’s not to secure a deal but to please him. As a small company, we shouldn’t be messing with the titans in this field.” Darcy knew her circumstances. Luca thought her boss was charmed by Russell’s words, but with the explanation, she knew her boss was doing this for the sake of the company. “I didn’t know that. I thought he was just a manager, and we don’t need to please him that much. I forgot about the company that he represents,” she said, feeling bad for suspecting her boss. She did not realize the deeper connection, so she blamed herself for being clumsy. “You must have overlooked it. I can’t blame you since you are also busy. Don’t worry about it. Working with him or not is not a big deal. I just don

Kaze thought that when he spoke up, Darcy would at least explain the situation, but she kept quiet with her arms crossed, staring at him coldly and refusing to communicate. Soon, he did not know how to continue the conversation, and it fell into an awkward silence. “You have nothing to say?” Kaze had said everything he wanted to after he reminded her. Darcy should at least have responded to his reminder, yet she gave him the cold shoulder and ignored his words. In all honesty, she did not know how to respond either. Luca had told her about Russell, and she had explained the situation. As chairwoman and CEO, she could make her own decisions. She did not need people to teach her to do her job. Moreover, she was smart, clear-minded, and would never fall for people’s tricks. There was no need to explain it to Kaze. Kaze waited for her in the parking lot just to tell her nonsense. She lost interest in talking or explaining. After all, Darcy believed she had made the ri
