Chapter One
"Aria, Jesus! I've been calling you for the past five minutes, girl. Get that damn thing off your ears." I heard a loud yell, followed by a small pat on my shoulders from Ginny, my best friend and the cook of the mansion where I am currently working along with my grandfather. He works as the gardener whereas I do a bit of everything from cleaning, doing the dishes and making sure everything look neat around this huge ass house. My OCD issues were not an issue anymore if it pays me for my tuition fees, right?I know it's not much but I was just 21 and trying to make it work somehow with the hope that I might be able to go to college one day like most of my friends. I've been saving up since I wasn't fortunate enough to enjoy the luxury of having rich parents like them or just having parents in general.Sucks to be me at the moment!I pulled out my earphones and frowned at Ginny for interrupting my work time jam. I have a separate playlist for each of my activities throughout the day and

Chapter Two
I started my day as usual and I got dressed in my denim shirt and jeans while my grandfather was making us breakfast. He takes good care of me and I owed him my entire life for raising me so far. I have never complained about anything to him as he has done so much for me. Although we were poor, he has never made me feel like we were poor and unfortunate. Now, it was up to me to find my purpose in life and that starts with working a shitty job at the devil's mansion to earn money for my higher studies. "You could come by the mansion later if you want, dear. I'll do some of your work while you spend some time between those books." I heard him call out from the kitchen and smiled at his words for always looking out for me. He knows my love for books and how much I love to spend time in the public library, reading books for free. Reading is like an escape from the reality for me and it also inspired me to pursue my education in English literature. I just want to write a book on my own in

Chapter Three
We both walked inside his home office where he broke the wine glass yesterday and I wasn't sure what to expect from him as he held a blank face most of the time. Maybe that's what makes him so mysterious, not showing his real emotions to the world must be some kind of a defense mechanism. It's not like I wouldn't get another job but the pay here was really good and I really wanted to keep this job at least for a year so that I would have enough money for my first semester at NYU. "Mr. Hudson, I am so sorry. I know I was out of line and I shouldn't have called you an asshole. I am willing to take up extra hours of work around the house as a form of punishment but please don't fire me." I started rambling as soon as he sat down behind his desk but he says nothing and kept looking at me with those gorgeous deep ocean green eyes. I kept fidgeting with the ends of my t-shirt awkwardly, waiting for his response but he remains silent while maintaining his gaze transfixed on me. I thought ab

Chapter Four
"You look pale. What happened, dear? Did he hurt you?" Ginny's concerned voice broke my chain of thoughts and I looked at her, giving her a small assuring smile. "Umm..no. He did say he might fire me though and uhh..." I went blank. I had no idea what to tell her. He could be joking about the killing part but knowing him and his temper, I was genuinely scared about the lengths he would go to protect his name and reputation. "He is heartless. Dammit! Even the tears didn't work on him. Don't worry, Aria. I'll make sure you have a job by tomorrow. I can speak to my daugh—." "I think I have a headache, Ginny. I'm gonna go rest for a while." I lied, cutting her off mid speech and started to grab my things. I felt bad for lying to her. I would have told her what exactly happened if it weren't for his threats. "Oh dear, shall I make you a cup of coffee?" She offered with a worried look on her face. "No, Ginny. I'll be fine. Don't worry about me. I'll figure it out. I always do." I rush

"I thought you hated him. What happened? Why is he asking me if he can marry you?" My grandpa sat down next to me feeling confused and concerned. Xavier must have spoken to him after he left our house and looks like he also asked him to retire by giving him an extravagant retirement benefits. My grandfather has never looked more shocked in his life than right now. "Grandpa, I know this looks so sudden and this must be surprising for you but I love him. We have been secretly dating all this time." I lied through my teeth and felt bad but I had no choice. There was no going back now. I was doing this for me and he would freak out if I told him the truth."I can't believe it. Is he blackmailing you, dear? He can be very rude and arrogant when he wants. to. We all know it." "No, grandpa. You don't know him like I do. He is actually very good to me and he loves me too." "I can't believe it. I'm hurt that you kept this from me for so long. When have I ever made you feel like you couldn't

Chapter Six
Once I was done unpacking and arranging my things, I let out a huge sigh and looked around, feeling satisfied with myself. It looked so much better now with a touch of colour rather than before when it looked plain yet like a luxurious hotel room. I heard a small knock on the door and rushed towards the sliding door to go and get the main door of the room. It can't be Xavier since he usually comes home late. Years of working in that mansion made me memorise his schedule. Who else could it be? "Ms. Abrams, Your lunch is ready." Ginny spoke as soon as I opened the door with a stern look on her face. Crap! She knows. I should have explained everything to her. How did it slip my mind?"Oh my God, Ginny!" I grabbed her by her hand and pulled her inside. "Don't 'Ginny' me, girl. What the hell is all of this? Are you marrying, Xavier?" She bombarded me with questions as soon as I closed the door. "I have a lot of explaining to do but why don't you sit down first?" "Sit down? Young lad

Chapter Seven
The wedding was in two days and I had nothing to worry about. Lucy was planning everything and popped in whenever she wanted my decision on the flower arrangement or the theme and moreover it was going to be a small ceremony so there wasn't much planning to do anyway. The reception was the big deal and Xavier was taking care of it. After the interview and our photoshoot were published, the media went wild over our engagement announcement. We were trending on twitter and Xavier was right, everyone believed our story and ate that shit up. I suppose, deep down, we're all romantics.I did receive some hate comments on my social media from women who looked liked models and some from fake accounts calling me a 'Bitch', 'Whore', 'Gold digger'. It didn't bother me that much because I kind of expected it because let's be real, Xavier is undeniably stunning, while I consider myself to be plain. In the real world, he would have never taken a second look at someone like me."Damn, these women ar
