It wasn't a book— but his childhood photo album when he was an infant. His mom was with him in every picture. "Jasmine!" Kyle snatched the album away from her with a loud growl. "Where did you get this album?" "Why? You're my husband. Can't I see your childhood pictures." Jasmine looked up, bringing her swollen red eyes to his view. His heart slowed down as he felt something hot pour over him. That expression was a torture for him. Kyle raised a hand to wipe her cheeks. Jasmine slapped it away and got up. "I asked you about your mother so many times and you made excuses. Why would you avoid talking about your mother, Kyle? Oh correction, our mother." She stressed the last two words. "Jasmine," Kyle was disoriented. He didn't know what to do or say. Above all, he wondered how he got to know them. "Yes, Kyle. I am listening. In fact, I'm waiting for your excuses. I will listen to you because if I won't, then you will go about pulling another bluff to get my attention." Kyle'

Kyle found himself in an unfathomable abyss of darkness when he came around."What the? Where am I? Jasmine, baby, can you hear me?" He tried to move as his eyes tried to adjust to the darkness.Neither worked, to his dread. Kyle also felt his hands restrained to the hands of the chair he was sitting in with rough and thick ropes. It cut into his skin as he twisted his wrists to free them, and stopped struggling with painful sighs."Jasmine?" Kyle wasn't sure if she were there, but his heart felt like she was.He closed his eyes, even though it made no difference if he kept them open, and held his breaths. He focused to hear the faintest sound of breathing, or rustling, or anything that would give away Jasmine's presence in that abyss. Though a part of him wished she shouldn't be here while he was restrained (because he couldn't protect her, and he needed help himself) he realized that having her with him was still better. If they were in trouble, he wanted them to be together. Th

"Ah!" "Jasmine!!! Lila, bítch, don't touch her!" Kyle wriggled in the chair again because Lila connected a resounding slap with his wife's face. "I'm not your sister. I'm your future wife, Kyle. Get that carved in your head." Lila shouted. "For every offensive thing you say, she will pay. So choose your words wisely."She then stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind her. Thankfully she left the lights on. This was better still. "Jasmine, darling," Kyle tried to shift his chair towards her but almost fell. "Are you okay?" Jasmine nodded, her head lowered. She was crying silently. "Hey, look at me." She did. "It's going to be fine. Someone will come to save us."Her eyes never looked away, and the more she looked, the more tears streamed out of her eyes. "It's going to be fine, love. Well, tell me one thing, did you know about this?" He flicked his head towards the door to refer to Lila. "Fiona and others tried to warn me... But I thought it's just sisterly protecti

Vince was wandering in the streets again. But like before, he had no look of apprehension marring his bearded face. He didn't care anymore whether was a murderer or that he still carried a gun under his clothes. His fear subsided last night when he ran into a cop outside a diner. Vince was searching for a bottle of water when the cop approached him. He growled at him, made a comment about his homelessness, then walked inside the diner to eat with his fellow team of cops. None of them recognized him. Not a single cop. That alone lifted Vince's spirits and pumped his courage. Now he was bravely walking around without a care in the world. "Isn't here that that social media star friend of Kyle's stays? What's her name... Yeah, Lila." She came at a halt across from Lila's housing society. There were several Looking-alike towers in a compound and the place screamed of elegance. "She must earn good from dancing in front of the cameras." Vince was gawking at a man tying the laces of

"They're here! I can hear footsteps. Kevin, be ready. Jasmine, love, stand in the corner by the wall." Kyle said furiously as he stood with his back pressing against the wall beside the wall that opened inside the room. The moment was finally here. The moment they'd been waiting for for the last sixty minutes. Someone was finally here.Kevin staggered a bit while holding his head. But he managed to throw himself against the wall next to the door like Kyle in time before they were burst open."What the, where are they?" The man that had come to drop Kevin inside was here.He walked into the room, unaware of Kyle and Kevin, who were hiding behind him. They both lunged at him at the same time. The man hit his elbow out, connecting it with Kevin's head. He fell back with a groan while Kyle effortlessly caught him in a choke hold. He pressed his arms together and was about to twist his head to break his neck when his eyes landed on Jasmine."Look away, love." Jasmine did at once and th
