Bethany povAfter dropping my son, Jason, off at preschool, I headed to the hospital to get my results. I hoped this test would change everything. Since having Jason, my husband, Fred, had drifted away. Now he was talking about divorce. He said he’d only stayed this long for Jason's sake. Maybe, just maybe, if I got pregnant again, he’d stay. The test paper crinkled in my hand as I unfolded it, my pulse hammering. My last hope to hold onto him—NEGATIVE. I felt a wave of cold settle over me. It was my last chance, and it was gone.Lost in my thoughts, I barely noticed Fred entering. He grabbed the paper from my hands, holding it just out of reach.“Looking for this?” he asked, voice cold and distant. “No—I'm not," I stammered, trying to grab it back, but he raised it higher. With a sneer, he tore it in half, letting the pieces flutter to the floor like ash.“You went for another test? I warned you, Bethany. It’s over. Stop trying to trap me.”"Why?" I whispered, voice trembling. "Wh

Bethany pov The sight of my son—my Jason—alive, with the same eyes I remembered from two years ago, left me reeling. My mind screamed it was impossible, that this was a trick or an illusion, but I knew what I had seen. I tried to step forward, to call his name again, but Fred was already ushering him away. “Jason!” My voice broke, barely rising above a whisper. The world around me felt like it was spinning, pulling me down into a dark void. I needed to touch him, to feel him, to hear him laugh just one more time. But Dean’s firm grip anchored me, keeping me upright even as my legs went weak. “Bethany,” he said in a steady voice, pulling me back toward my car, away from the cemetery. “No!” I snapped, yanking my arm from his grasp and turning back toward where Fred and Jason had disappeared. “That’s my son, Dean! He’s alive, he’s right there!” Dean tightened his hold on my shoulder, his expression a mix of concern and confusion. “Bethany, you need to calm down. We don’t

Bethany's eyes widened in horror as she gazed at Dean, the man clutching the pipe. "Oh my God! What are you doing here?" she exclaimed, her voice trembling. It was Dean, and she accused, "Dean, you killed him!" Bethany bent down to touch Fred's body, but he lay motionless. Impulsively, Dean dropped the pipe and grasped Bethany's arm, storming off without answering her frantic questions. They abandoned Fred, unconscious in the desolate, abandoned place. **** BETHANY'S HOME Upon arriving at her residence, Bethany stepped out of the car and slammed the door shut, the sound resonating through the air. Dean noticed her hostility, a palpable tension between them. "What's wrong, Bethany?" Dean inquired, rushing toward her. She recoiled from his grip. "What do you mean by that? Do i look wrong to you? ” " Well... I saved you from Fred. God knows how he got to you! " Dean replied, his brows furrowed. "Well, you don't know him! You hit him on the head. What if he's dea

NEXT DAY – 7 PM Bethany adjusted her black, sleeveless gown and let her fingers graze the soft fabric. Her reflection in the mirror stared back, her hair cascading over her shoulders, framing her exquisite features. Tonight was the one-year anniversary of Avery and her husband’s marriage—a milestone Bethany had missed two years ago. She smiled faintly, though the ache of those years apart from Fred’s family lingered. Avery had been more than just a sister-in-law; she was her confidante, the one who sought her advice and found comfort in her presence. It was time to see her again—her “water sister,” as they’d called each other in jest. Satisfied with her appearance, she grabbed her purse, her heart pounding lightly, and headed to her car. HART'S MANSION The towering Hart mansion loomed in the distance as Bethany pulled into the driveway. Memories she’d tried to bury clawed their way back to the surface. This was the place where she’d been humiliated, broken, before fleeing to F

Bethany’s jaw tightened as she heard the familiar voice. It was KATE, FRED'S MOTHER. The woman who had been humiliating her in her own home for months, immediately after Fred was sent to a business meeting and placed her in the family house and treated her terribly. “Oh my God! What are you doing here?" Kate exclaimed, her tone dripping with mock surprise. She removed her glasses, biting her lip as if relishing the moment. "You never changed, sweetheart." Bethany’s stomach churned. the woman who had tormented her for months. while she was married to Fred. She had turned her home into a living hell constantly belittling her, pressuring her to get pregnant again, and planting doubts about Jason's paternity. Worse, Fred always took Kate's side, falling for her fake tears. Kate's smirk widened as she threw a bundle of cash to a group of boys loitering in the corner. "Boys! Thank you very much," she said dismissively, watching them scurry off like trained dogs. She turned back to Beth
