The project was practically a cash gift to her—something she had taken for granted.That evening, for once, she got home before me.The moment I stepped in, she confronted me."Why did you terminate the partnership? Just because Wesley and I shared a bowl of soup? Come on, Ryan. Don't take things too far." "What did you record? Were you stalking me? I knew you're just threatening me with this divorce. Don't push it too far, or I really will divorce you. If you behave and hand the project back, maybe I'll even consider—" I ignored Jen's drunken antics and went back to drinking with my friends. The other senior members of Jen's company started putting pressure on her because of the partnership termination. She was so used to being pampered that she took everything for granted.They were criticizing her for being immature, saying that she should not divorce me. However, Jen felt humiliated by me and declared that their company could thrive without my help.She refused to show up at the Civil Affairs Bureau and even started avoiding me. Her father, Henry Walter, who usually stayed out of everything, eventually came looking for me. His son, Gary Walter, had gotten into trouble recently, and I was not there to bail him out like before.The stress had turned his hair even grayer.
