“You are here,” he says upon seeing me. “Where's Clara?” I find myself asking.“She's err…it's just us” he replies. “Come have a seat” Accepting his offer and wondering why he's speaking so calmly to me, I walk to sit down a far length away from him. Opposite the couch he's sitting. “I didn't come here because you asked me to, just so you say” I announce. He sighs “Eve, I'm sorry. It wasn't supposed to be like this” he says. And I can hear it in his voice that he is being sincere. That he means his apology. “Clara, and I, we…please I want you back home. Back here. Forget about Clara. I'm sitting still in front of my dressing mirror smiling at myself as I apply some makeup on my face. Just last night, I spoke to Maya and didn't sound like she was still upset with me. Even though over the week she'd tried not to be pushy or show any resentment but I always knew from her tone when she spoke that she was still really skeptical that I am back with Leonard but last night, when I spoke to her, she sounded happy for me. When I finished my makeup, I find my way downstairs to find Leonard. I'm finally going to break off the news about our pregnancy to him on this trip we are going for. I don't see him anywhere in the living room. The last time I saw him, he asked some of the servants to take our luggage to the top of the roof where the helicopter was waiting. I open my mouth to call his name but turning around I see him walking inside the house looking all dashed like the most handsome man I know him to be. He's in a simple black shirt and brown plain trousers. “Hey..”

“What is it?” He asks the moment he walks into the kitchen.“Someone is here other than the two of us” I tell him, pointing at the sink filled with dirty plates and pot. He walks closer to me “are you sure? No one has access to this place but me and my mom” I stroll to the sink and put my finger into the pot “and it looks like it was just used recently. Babe don't you think we are being watched or worse, ambushed?” I say, my voice quieter but edged with so much unease.He chuckles, his head tilting slightly as he studies me, dipping both hands into his trouser pockets. “Come on, Eve, really? What are you talking about? It was probably the people who did the renovation. They were possibly hungry and decided to make good use of the kitchen before we arrive. Remember I told you it wasn't in use before” He says “There's no one here other than us, I promise.” I want to believe him. The moment my eyes lands on her, my body stiffens. It's enough to make my heart lurch and my stomach twist into a knot. I almost feel like throwing up. Clara is standing at the door, her blonde hair tied into a ponytail. She's also dressed casually in a play suit and a white All stars. Leonard reacts instantly stepping in front of me as if to shield me and stop me from seeing who he is talking to but it's too late already. I've seen her fully.“Eve, go back inside. I go after him and when we get to the living room, Clara is on the floor. I expect Leonard to ignore her and come back to me but he doesn't. I stand there and watch him kneel close to Clara. He examines her pulse and press his palm against her forehead to check her temperature. “What is it? Are you okay?” He asks, shaking her profusely. I fold my hand against my chest and watch them. She keeps wailing, turning on the floor like someone who had been flogged. “Say something…Clara?” A panicking Leonard calls out. He suddenly turns to me “babe, call 911. Call for an emergency, don't just stand there.” I don't buy it. There's everything in me that makes me feel like Clara could be acting up so, I gnore him and just watch him for seconds as he tenders to her. When I don't move or try to do anything, he stands up and comes to where I am. He grabs my arm. “Come on, Eve,” he half yells in panic “I told you to call emergency. Are you this wicked?” He pushes my hand away which almost sends

I swallow dryly. Looking aware from him and from the man, I fold my hands against my chest. The man following my gaze, sees Leonard standing feets away from us. I think I heard him chuckle afterwards. He gently lays the coat on my legs and stretches his hand “I'm Seb as in Sebastian.” He says but I don't make any move to reciprocate his gesture. My hands are tied the same way they have been for the past seconds. When he's finally out of sight, I let out a sigh of relief just as Leonard comes back to sit across from me. He doesn't say a word and I don't either. I simply take the coat and throw it over my shoulders. Feeling better, I close my eyes and breath out. We wait in silence for the longest couple of minutes before the door leading to the ward slightly slides open. I don't make any move to stand up but Leonard stumbles to his feet and blocks the doctor. “Is she okay? What happened to her? Will she be discharged soon? Can we see her now?” He bombards the doctor with questions

Still holding my hand, Leonard and I both cast a look at the doctor. Please say you have a match not me, I whisper in my head as we both wait for the doctor to say something. But he shakes his head “no match yet, I'm afraid Mr Sinclair. But we are doing all that we can to make sure we find the right blood match for her.” He turns around to walk back into the ward but just when he's about to walk away, Leonard calls after him “my wife will donate blood since it's a match.” He says firmly. I fearfully look from the doctor to him as my widened eyes become bloodshot. How can he insist I donate blood? Not having any strength in me to fight, I just stand there and watch the doctor say nothing to either of us as he observes us for a while. He holds my hand but then smiles. “It was a miracle. I can't explain it but your baby is healthy. We had to inject you with some more folic acid for the baby. And a dose of vitamin did some miracle to the being growing inside of you” he says. That is all I want to hear now. I prevent myself from tearing up from happiness “thank you doctor.” I say. “Even though it was a narrow escape but your baby survived” he adds and I nod my head.“Please doctor, can you not tell my husband anything about my baby? If he asks, tell him I lost the baby, please” I beg, even though I doubt that Leonard will ask the doctor anything about our child. Such a wicked soul. He tilts his head to the side and smiles at me before saying “I will do as you've asked Mrs. Sinclair. Just try to take care of your body. And you should rest very well after this too as you are free to go” he tells me and

“Hello,” I say over the phone to Maya the moment I'm back to the Villa.“Friend? How's vacation going?” She asks and I sigh heavily. “I'm coming back. I need the Lawyer's contact. I'm divorcing Leonard” I tell her, preventing myself from tearing up again. “What happened? Are you okay? Are you still in Manila?” a concerned Maya bombards me with questions. “Yes. I'm taking the next flight back to Chicago. When I come back, I'll tell you everything that happened” I tell her. “Okay.
