Chapter 1

CHAPTER 1Eden..The cell’s air was stale and the dim light cast its weak hue on my broken body shackled in chains, the cold metal biting into my skin. My once pale skin, now covered in red and purplish hue. My joint, as worn out as the door hinges of the cell. The air hung, heavy with the stench of my dirty body. I haven't showered in a week nor have I eaten in four days. The dungeon creaked open and Troy Adonis, the new Alpha king, and my mate.“I’m sure you must have heard about the Timagon?”Of course, the rumors had spread like wildfire; Lydia the ferocious wolf had challenged their abomination of a lunar to a Timagon-a duel of honor“I’m here to tell you to accept it.” His eyes, those eyes that once burnt with warmth and love now glazed cold like a frozen lake—colder than the haunting walls of this cell—as he stared down at me.“You know Lydia would kill me if I accepted the challenge.” My voice tightened.Lydia was known for wearing her viciousness like a prized jewel. And I…

Eden..The rejection hadn’t even happened, yet my heart twisted. I thought I had shed all my tears in the prison, but here I was, aching tears gathering in my eyes. Was this what this was all about?According to our law, the Luna must be either the Alpha's mate or attained through Timagon-killing the Luna. The high priestess had always stopped the Timagon, for her it was barbaric and she was against rejection, saying you were defying the moon goddessBut after being framed for the death of Alpha Lev, I was nothing but a murderer—a sinner. There was nothing she could do.Once again my eyes met with Troy. “Finding a second mate will be very hard; you might go mad,” I said not knowing whether, I was trying to convince him that he needed me, or myself that he wouldn’t abandon me.But like I was talking at a wall, Troy wasn’t moved at all. “If being with something as evil as you could bring me peace, then I would rather roam the rest of my life mad.”My brows shot up and my chest tighten

Eden.. Dashing out of the bathroom, I slipped into the black long sleeve gown and headed out of the Harem’s quarters to the King’s quarters. I had to propose a plan to him—one that could save my life. The Harem quarter was located on the south of the palace while the king’s quarter was far away from the women he hated, the north of the place—a thirty minute walk. Arriving at the King’s headquarters, my eyes fell on the two body guards guarding the entrance. “What are you doing here?” One of them asked with a brusque tone. My stomach tightened. “I have news for the Alpha, please let me through.” I bolstered my voice. The second bodyguard whispered into the ears of the other. “You are from the harem?” The bodyguard narrowed his eyes. And before I could reply, he continued. “Begone.” “What if the Alpha dies because of the decision you made?” I raised my brows. Both men exchanged glances, before the blonde guard led me to the inner chambers of the quarters. The gu

Eden.. The next morning, I settled on one of the benches that lined the long hallway of the large parliament building. The elders and members had already sat inside the parliament as they awaited Lev’s arrival. The meeting was supposed to start by 8 am. It was already 9am and Lev was nowhere to be found. I bit my thumb nail as I leaned my head on the light coral walls. My heart thrummed. Was he being sly with me, because I didn’t return to his room last night? He couldn’t be that petty? Lev’s tall figure appeared in the hallway as he strutted towards me, looking like the king of hell in his all black attire—a black long overcoat. A black dress shirt beneath a black Victorian vest that underscored his broad chest. His black gloved hands dipped into his black suit trousers that hung on his narrow waist. The confidence that clung onto him, the predatory look that burned in his hunter’s eyes—they spawned a heat in my stomach. It should have stung, yet it fluttered, like a re

Eden . . “Run and find a place to hide,” Lev stated. Say no more…I darted and hid behind a trunk of a large tree. My heart pounded in my chest and my hand stifled my mouth. One of the nightgale lunged at him. Lev side stepped quickly, causing the beast to miss. Gripping it by its tail, Lev grunted as swung it into another. My eyes bulged out; is this the strength of a lycan? Unlike cane wolves, Lycan were a hundred times stronger and their senses were more heightened. It was said they were once cane wolves, who sacrificed something of great importance to Nyctaris, the moon goddess of the underworld, for powers. I could only wonder what he had sacrificed. Their screech tore through the air of the forest before lingering as they kept coming, each taking turns to attack. But like an unforgiving beast he was, he took them down, their heads thudding to the floor. The last nightgale was remarkably swift and precise as it dashed at Lev. It pinned Lev to the ground with its h
