“Hey, I came as fast as I could.” Ian returned to the facility quite late at night.Although Rosie was already asleep on the airbag at the foot of her bed, Avery had a book in her hands, one of the many he got her while they were staying together.Ian walked closer to her, hugging her after she gently placed the book on her bedside table.“I’m fine. I’ve been done with my tests for a while. They told me the result will be out by tomorrow,” Avery informed as Ian pulled away.“You smell nice,” Avery commented and Ian smiled.“Drop by the house to wash up. Also, I brought you something,” Ian said, bringing out from the shopping bag he brought with him a couple of packages of strawberries.“How’d you know I was craving those?” Avery asked, her eyes glistening with surprise while Ian walked over to the basin in the corner to rinse some for her.“Well, I don’t know. I just felt the strong urge to have some,” Ian replied as he returned with the washed strawberries while Avery looked like she

“Um…I…I have to go.” Ian’s sudden declaration had Avery’s eyes squinting, as if trying hard not to frown.“Right now?” She demanded, following up her question with a suspicious “Why?” Unfortunately, Ian couldn’t put his urgency into words and just showed her instead.“A huge wolf running after a vehicle on a highway?” Avery simplified the video in words but still didn’t get why Ian had her watch it.“That’s…gramps,” Ian pointed out and Avery stiffened. “He’s after Arden and I think we both know why, so I need to stop him before things get outta hand,” Ian explained while Avery's eyes mellowed out but she still had that ‘What the fuck?’ look on her face.Ian tried to rush off but ran back in to place a kiss on her forehead.“I’m really sorry; this is all my fault. I should have been forward with him and let him know everything but there was so much going on so I and gramps haven’t spoken much since the burial, so he must be pretty pissed and frustrated right now.” Ian rushed through hi

Ian fighting off his grandfather was a little more difficult than he expected; it had already been an hour, and he had barely landed a strike at the man while he already had a few broken bones, which, of course, healed almost instantly. The difference, however, between him and the old man, which he was sure he could use to his advantage, was his healing rate and his stamina.Although the old man was still far more experienced than he was, the more they clashed, the more the difference in his earlier speed got obvious, so the more their battle dragged, the more disadvantageous it was going to be for him, but of course, Marcus knew this and tried to put an end to it at once, driving his canines into Ian’s wolf.He wanted to incapacitate him and make him surrender but Ian knew if he stayed any longer in his hold, it would be dangerous for him so he freed himself by giving up the flesh trapped in Marcus's teeth. The pain was unbearable; he was bleeding and was weak for a minute but quickl

“How are you feeling?” Rosie asked as Avery stared out blankly into space. She’s been lost in thought since Ian left and Rosie was starting to get worried. “To be honest, I have no damn clue. I feel like I’m feeling something, but at the same time, it feels like I’m not,” Avery replied earnestly. “D’you wanna talk about it? I mean, being a werewolf and all. How exactly did it make you feel? Cause trust me, I’m still trying to digest all of this myself. The whole mate thing also—I found out about Damian and it’s been a rollercoaster, really,” Rosie explained as she pulled her seat closer to Avery’s bed. “Don’t be so hard on him. Honestly, it’s not something that’s easy to tell someone—” “We’ve been best friends for years, Avy.” Rosie interrupted sharply. “He had all the chances in the world to mention it but he kept us in the dark all his life. "To me it’s no different than saying I don’t trust you guys," Rosie concluded and Avery sighed. “This same reaction is why I hesitated te

“So, um. Hi," Avery called out awkwardly as she gently approached Marcus at the patio.“Hi,” He replied back casually while Avery took a seat on one of the basket chairs left in the open air.“Look, I’m sorry about Eloise. I—”“No, I’m sorry. I should have raised her better.” Marcus cut in before Avery dumped on him the speech she’d prepared. “I heard all about it from Ian. Everything she was putting you through and how it went down. She’s always been rebellious and always wanted to be on top, no matter what; I just didn’t understand how far she was willing to go for her goals.” Marcus, his tone solemn and face remorseful.“I heard about your father too. It must have been difficult,” Marcus pointed out and Avery forced him a smile since she didn’t really get the chance to know Arden as a father, which is why he is a failed father, although he did do better as an uncle.“You know when I saw him checking up on you before he left the facility. I had so many thoughts. His eyes didn’t real
