“What in the world are you doing?” Damian hurried over as Avery stilled after Eloise’s palm met Avery’s face.“This is crazy—”“Damian”, Avery called in a warning tone, interrupting right as he was about to lash out at Eloise, who looked extremely furious with fear hidden in her tear-laced eyes.Avery wouldn’t claim she understood her anger or how she must be feeling after she called to tell her Ian was stabbed after work; he was still her son after all.It also wasn’t surprising that she became the object of her blame; it would be weird if she didn’t take the opportunity to blame her, and while Avery wished she could think she was free of the blame for what happened to Ian, she couldn’t help but blame herself.Avery leaned in to whisper in Eloise’s ear after ignoring the stinging sensation on her cheek.“I’m only ever going to allow this once. The next time you lay a hand on me, Eloise, I’ll make you wish you didn’t have a hand,” Avery whispered before walking away while Damian hurri

“There’s no need to concern yourself about Ian’s bodyguards; I’ll pick them myself,” Eloise told Avery after she visited her office right when she was going over the contract details with the security team that was in charge of protecting Finn.“Do as you like,” Avery replied with a stoic look as she stood some metres away from her working desk.Eloise was surprised by her response and glanced up to see the indifferent look on her face. She thought she’d at least be annoyed that her offer was turned down, but she wasn’t. ‘Like I thought, she really doesn’t care about Ian. I wonder what Ian did to deserve someone like her as a mate. No, I have to find a way to make her reject him.’“What I came here to ask, however, is about the new post you demand I fill. You want me to take up the post of a director?” Avery asked, and Eloise smirked.“Yes,” Eloise replied, adjusting into a comfortable position on her expensive swivel chair preceding the president of the company.“You’re demoting me?”

Ian kept feeling restless after Avery abruptly left the hospital before they could talk. We could talk some other time, he thought to himself but Eloise wouldn’t give him his phone and insisted he heal first before leaving the house or doing anything else. With silver out of his system, his wound quickly close back but Ian couldn’t rid himself of the intense fatigue and fever that followed. It was unusual since he’d been in contact with Silver before and it didn’t act that way, except, of course, it’s in his bloodstream and that should have been taken care of at the hospital so why is this happening this time?Ian found his answers after realising the pattern connecting his intense fatigue and fever. It all started anytime he had a meal, two days after he left the hospital and a day after Eloise showed up to the house with his new bodyguards, even though he claimed he didn’t need one.‘All this madness will be over once I get my strength back.’ He thought but Eloise didn’t give him

“Is there something you specifically want me to tell you?” Avery asked as she headed to the bathroom while walking past Ian, who followed her in even though he already had his turn.“I don’t know…maybe.” Ian looked undecisive while she walked over to the sink to use the mouthwash.“How about this: you tell me what you wanna know and I’ll tell you more about it,” Avery suggested while she washes and rinses her mouth.“You still haven’t said anything about your mom,” Ian pointed out and Avery flinched. “I’ve been waiting for you to bring it up but you didn’t mention it, but if it makes you uncomfortable, we can always talk about it some other time.” Ian sounded pretty curious and yet considerate of her at the same time, a trait Avery didn’t know could ever go well together.“It’s not like I was trying to hide it from you or anything. It’s just an uncomfortable topic to spring up out of nowhere. Damn sure no one is comfortable with their mother faking her own death for over a decade only

“Are you really moving, Ian? Listen to me… I said I’m sorry.” Ian watched his mother try her hardest to stop him as he grabbed his packed boxes and set out of the house. He was forced to stop after Eloise kept dragging on his knitted sweater.“Well, I have to go…before you end up plunging a silver dagger in my chest while I’m asleep,” Ian said as he slowly grabbed her hand and freed himself from her firm grip.“You know I’ll never do that,” Eloise said in a tone that felt the same as her saying ‘that’s totally absurd’.“No mother feeds their kid wolfsbane, Mom. How can I be sure you won’t kill me? Besides, I’m not sure how much longer I can hold Storm back from losing control around you.” He paused and with a pained voice, he said, “Avery has never looked at me like that before.” Ian’s eyes turned Crimson.“Because of you, she won’t pick up my calls; she won’t talk to me… if I stay here any longer, I’m not sure what I’ll do.” Ian said through clenched jaws while Eloise took a step ba
