Sebastian povCourtney came to an abrupt stop before straining her neck to look at Sebastian. It was uncomfortable for her so she had to stay in a position in which he would not have to strain it before she could see him properly. But Sebastian, on the other hand, just kept his eyes on the booklet that was on his table, flipping over to the next page at an interval of fifteen seconds like he was counting it.The door slammed shut, and immediately, he looked up to see Courtney, who had been staring at him the whole time. “Why did you have to hold me back?" She questioned in a confused tone. “I should be busy with research and also looking for companies in which–" “Just shut the fuck up already." He rubbed his temples like he had started to get bored of her long talks already. “Take your seat." He said as he gestured to a seat that was opposite him. After a long stare, she reluctantly made her way to the chair on which Sebastian told her to sit. “So can you tell me why you told me t

Davina. It felt unreal. Yeah, Tom told me the doctor said his child don't have much time again but notwithstanding, it is too soon.Unsure, of if the scene unfolding before me was just a dream or it was real, I took a step forward, one that felt like I used all the strength in me to take. Seeing Tom like that weakened me, I could not deny it. Slowly, I walked up to his child's bed but I gasped in shock, both hands above my mouth. That was his child's deathbed. “Tom?” I called out, my voice barely above a whisper. He didn’t respond. He just stood there; frozen, like a statue built out of grief, despair, devastation. His shoulders were stiff, his eyes distant. But the moment our eyes met, something inside me cracked.A tear ran down my cheek, then another, until I could barely see him through the blur. That wasn’t the Tom I knew. The Tom I knew was steady, cheerful, composed, the guy who always found a way to stay strong for everyone else. But now… he looked hollow, as if the very li

Davina pov“Miss me?" That word kept ringing in my head as I tried to remember who it was. There was still silence between the person and me as I tried to make out whose voice that was. “I'm not the type to talk to an unknown person for more than three minutes," I said as I took the phone off my ear to look at the number of minutes I'd been on the call. “You've used one minute forty-six seconds already, you are left with one minute and fourteen seconds, so I guess you should use that little time wisely." “Well, giving three minutes to someone unfamiliar is not like you, so I guess you also know my voice sounds familiar, right?" There's no way I'm going to buy this. “You have one minute and three seconds left now," I said in a brisk tone. “One minute now." The voice said and I squinted my eyes after looking at the number again. “Rocky?" I questioned in surprise. “Who the fuck is that?" The familiar questioned in a shocked way tone. More shocked than I was when I called Rocky's

Davina pov.I stood there, unable to move due to the shock, but there he was, standing with his right hand in his pocket and a glass of cocktail on the left. A heavy sigh escaped my lips as I took my eyes off him and walked past him like he was never there, only to see Jane waiting for me some centimeters behind Sebastian with her hands on her waist.“Lucky you," Jane said with a wry smile as we both made our way to one of the VIP tables. “I would say lucky him rather." She added with a scoff as she gestured towards the entrance and I saw my parents walking in. Lights from cameras, phones, and other gadgets flashed on their faces as reporters tried following them in, but they were stopped by the bouncers at the entrance. “Mr. Charez, how does it feel to finally see your long-lost daughter?!” a reporter called out, cutting through the hum of the party chatter. He stopped in his tracks, turning slowly toward the voice. The question hung in the air for a moment, heavy and unexpected b

Davina povTom had taken his about one minute ago but I could still not take my eyes off him. It had just been two days since the ugly incident happened but here he was again. Different. He was completely different compared to the last time I saw him. Buzz cut, more pale, and the thing he told me he had always hated, beards. “Who is he?" Jane's curious voice jolted me out of my thoughts, and I looked at her for a split second before transferring my gaze to Alex, whose eyes were focused on the podium like he was expecting this.“Who the fuck is he?" Jane questioned again, this time, not letting go of my hand. “I guess you're the only one I'm a stranger to," he said in a hoarse tone before adjusting his black suit and pushing his glass above his nose bridge. “Well, you're the only stranger to me here." “So that makes us even, doesn't it?" He added with a smile that later turned to a frown. It was at that moment I knew he had not gotten over it. He probably came here just to distra
