I was so excited when I discovered I was finally pregnant after all these years but that happiness came crumbling down as I discovered my sister was also pregnant. And my husband was responsible. He didn’t even feel an ounce of remorse and readily, he asked for a divorce so he could settle with my sister. My adopted family also gave them their full support. No one cared about my feelings and I knew it was needless to reveal my pregnancy. I had to leave the city to start a new life. But little did I know, my life would flip around overnight. In the flash of a day, I became a World-class billionaire heiress and I wasn’t going to let my ex-husband go scot free for the pain he had cost me in the past.

Sitting in the restaurant with my family and my husband's family, I couldn't help but notice one person who had made it her life's mission to make my existence miserable—Courtney, my sister.
Courtney had finished her education and had now returned.
My husband, Sebastian, and my sister were eating and laughing, discussing things as if it were their first date, while I sat there, feeling like a third wheel—even though it was supposed to be a family dinner.
I sat across the table, watching the scene unfold as I gently rubbed my small belly, which held the unborn child I had recently discovered I was carrying.
This was supposed to be a family gathering, but as usual, I felt like an outsider. None of them even noticed that I wasn't eating, as they were all too busy listening to whatever it was Courtney was saying to my husband.
I watched Sebastian gaze at Courtney with so much longing as she passed him the salad bowl. His first love had returned, and I was left on the sidelines. I guess I would be ruining their perfect little reunion by telling them about the baby.
I knew Sebastian didn’t care much for me, but I didn’t expect him to be so casual with another woman, no matter who she was.
She was the love of his life, but I was still his wife—his legally married wife, even if it had been by accident. Sebastian had always been in love with her, but after our wedding, things had changed. He began to see me, and for a while, he loved me—but only as long as our son was still with us.
Once the one person who had brought us together was gone, Sebastian became like an ice king, never sparing a glance in my direction again.
“Courtney!” Lily, Sebastian's mother, called out, and we all turned our heads to hear what she had to say. She flashed Courtney a big smile. “Seb told us you graduated at the top of your class in business and accounting? That’s wonderful! Why don’t you tell us about it?” Lily said, her voice filled with excitement and eagerness.
Truly, Lily had always adored Courtney and had always hoped she would be the one to marry her son.
Courtney flipped her long brunette hair and leaned forward. “Mrs. Campbell…”
“Oh… please, call me Lily,” Lily interrupted with a warm smile.
Courtney returned the smile brightly. “Lily, I’ve heard so much about your achievements, and you’ve always been my biggest inspiration to strive harder. Of course, being at the top was a challenging journey, but every time I remembered that you attended the same university and topped your class, I pushed myself even more. And, of course, I owe it all to my mother, my biggest supporter.” She turned to my mum, who beamed with pride and nodded in agreement.
Courtney then turned to look at Sebastian, whose eyes were filled with admiration and love—feelings I had always longed for.
“Courtney has a sharp mind and a very high IQ, which makes her incredibly smart. So, I’m not surprised,” Sebastian said confidently, brushing a stray strand of hair from Courtney’s face.
I clenched my fork in frustration as I glanced at him. Sebastian had never spoken about my accomplishments in such a way, and it irritated me. After all, I’m his wife.
No matter what I did, it always seemed like I wasn’t trying hard enough. He always had an excuse for everything I did—too forward, too much of a waste of time. Yet here he was, praising Courtney’s achievements.
I observed Sebastian, watching the way his gaze lingered on Courtney—his perfect girl. His sharp, dark eyes softened when he looked at her. It made me feel both jealous and enraged, wondering why I had even bothered to come to this dinner in the first place. It felt like this dinner was all about the two of them.
A waiter interrupted my thoughts. “Ma’am, would you care for anything else—wine, whiskey?” he asked.
I gently rubbed my small belly under the table. “I’ll just have a fruit juice—apple juice, to be precise. Thank you.” The waiter nodded and moved off to place my order.
I couldn’t help but wonder if my family would guess why I hadn’t ordered wine, but they were too absorbed in their conversation with Courtney to notice.
“Excuse me, I need to use the bathroom.” I stood up, but no one acknowledged me. It was as if they hadn’t heard me at all.
Who dares to pay attention to anyone else when the star of the show is around? I thought bitterly as I made my way toward the bathroom, tripping over my ankle in the process. I limped the rest of the way, cursing under my breath.
In the bathroom, I stood before the mirror, staring at my reflection. Memories came flooding back—how I’d discovered I was pregnant just days ago. The joy, the shock, and the fear all came rushing back at once.
I splashed cold water on my face, trying to wash away the tears that had started to fall. Should I tell him? Would he even care? Would he be happy to know he was having a child with the wife he seemed to have forgotten?
Four years had passed since we lost our first child, and I hadn’t been able to conceive since. My marriage had deteriorated into something hollow and loveless. Sebastian buried himself in his work, leaving me behind to suffer alone.
But it wasn’t just Sebastian. My parents and in-laws also turned against me, blaming me for my inability to provide an heir for the family business. I worked tirelessly for the company, securing deals and driving growth, but none of that mattered to them. All they cared about was the heir I couldn’t give them.
And now, when it seemed I might finally give them what they wanted, I was terrified to share the news.
“I should tell him,” I whispered to myself, but the faces I had just left behind at the table flashed through my mind—cold, distant, devoid of warmth. Even my parents had turned against me, still blaming me for Courtney’s supposed misery.
I looked back at the mirror, and the woman staring at me wasn’t someone I recognized. The face was mine, but the spirit was a stranger’s. My old self had withered away, replaced by someone who worked day and night to please Sebastian and keep the company at the top.
“No,” I said firmly. “I will tell him.” I took a deep breath and steeled myself. Maybe this would finally make him see me again.
When I returned to the dining room, nothing had changed. Everyone’s attention was still on Courtney, as if she were the only person who mattered.
I cleared my throat once, twice, before anyone even noticed me. Slowly, their gazes turned toward me, a mix of irritation and disinterest on their faces.
“Sorry for the interruption,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady.
Lily rolled her eyes dramatically, while Natalia—who had once been a second mother to me—gave me a nasty glare.
“Actually, I have something to share with you all,” I continued. At this, their eyes turned sharper, as if my mere presence was a waste of their time.
“Go ahead, then,” my mother said curtly, sitting up properly for the first time since the dinner had started.
My heart pounded as I glanced at Sebastian, silently pleading for some sign of support. The room fell silent. All eyes were on me, though none of them held warmth.
I couldn’t help but notice the mixed reactions around the table—impatience, irritation, and barely concealed disdain. My mother-in-law sat stiffly, her usual air of superiority more stifling than ever. She had never treated me kindly, but tonight, I resolved to break free of the shackles of her contempt.
Just as I opened my mouth to speak, Courtney rose from her seat. Her eyes locked on mine, and she smiled—a smile that held no kindness.
“I also have an announcement to make,” she said quickly, cutting me off. “And I’d
like to go first.”
“Sure, please go ahead,” I murmured, sinking back into my seat.
Sebastian povSebastian stood with his hands behind him, and his face was lined with seriousness; the sight of Rose Chavez did not seem to faze him. “State your reason for coming here,” she said in a barely audible tone as she shortened the length of his delay. “That will be the first thing I'll be hearing from you.”“It's the same thing I said earlier ma'am,” he replied with a sigh. “I am here to talk.” “Does this place look like a war front where you can make peace with the opposition with cheap talks? Well, if that's what you think, I'm sorry to disappoint you but you are greatly mistaken.”“I've been disappointed a lot of times so yours will just be a plus one.” It seemed like Sebastian read the atmosphere and the calm nature of Rose Chavez, and he tried using that to get under her skin. “God, this dude thinks he can spill shit out of his mouth all because he knows about the kids?” Alex pushed his hair backward and walked towards him with his fist balled beside him.“Alexandra,
Davina povCourtney pulled her hand from the grip of Alex, and her gaze landed on me once more; the intense look was still evident in her eyes like she was some sort of robot that had been programmed to do only one thing, which was eliminate me. She pushed me backward, and just as she was about to slap me, I sidestepped her swiftly, but I could not deny the fact that I was lucky her hand did not come in contact with my face. “Look who we have here, a janitor who claims to be the CEO of this huge company,” Natalie spat out with bitterness in her tone as she scanned the building. “I'm pretty sure you are yet to realize the category you belong to.” Just as I was about to say something, Courtney walked closer to me once more with a frown on her face. “Shut the fuck up.”“You think you can just come into my family after three years and ruin it?” Courtney yelled, and I heard gasps from the workers, and I placed my hand on my waist in frustration. “God, what the hell is this loony bastar
Davina pov “How much do you hate him, Davina?” Jane asked as we walked down the hallway, we had just gotten out of the car some minutes ago. “Who are you talking about?” I responded with an arched eyebrow even though I did not pause. “Besides, I think the word dislike will be better since I hate no one.”“From the look of things, it's obvious as to who this person is.” She replied with her hands in her pocket and that made me look at her with a surprised expression on my face. Jane kept bouncing as she walked with me, and just as I turned to look at her, the surprised look on my face dissolved into a disgusted one. “Common, you are a lady, for crying out loud; why the hell do you have to keep your hands in your pocket?” I inquired, my eyes widening in confusion. Jane wore a fitted red shirt with sleeves rolled up to her elbows, paired with sleek black suit trousers and matching shoes. Given her polished attire, I found it hard to imagine her slipping her hands into her pockets; s
Davina povRose picked up the phone and raised an eyebrow in anger, the fact that she was angry was crystal clear. “What is this?” She said in annoyance as she handed the phone to Davina who looked at whose name it was. “I had no idea he had my contact,” Davina muttered under her breath as she watched the call end. “Or maybe someone gave him the number without my concept.” She added with a stern look as her gaze landed on Alex who avoided her eyes. William's brow furrowed with concern as he leaned forward, his voice low and serious. "What exactly are you insinuating, Davina?" he asked, his eyes locked intently on his daughter's face.Davina's gaze swept the table, her eyes lingering on each person before returning to her father. A wry smile played on her lips as she replied, "Everyone do stupid things and deny it, don't they? I mean, who doesn't end up lying somewhere along the line?" Her tone was light, but not to Alex. He was definitely the one she was referring to, even though s
Davina pov“And what did you come here to do?” I asked Alex whose hands were still behind him. “You have been acting weirdly lately, and I'm starting to get confused. “Are you going to let me in or not?” He asked and managed a small smile.“Do you think you can just walk in and out of this place as you please?” I asked Alex after taking forever, he took his hands away from his back. “Answer me.” “I'm sorry for what happened today.” Alex apologized for the one thousandth time today, and I had started to get sick of it. “Why are you here? That's all I'm asking.” He managed a small smile, and I gave him a stern look, but the smile on his face only broadened. “Is that Alex?” I heard my mom's voice behind me and I turned to look at her with a confused look on my face. “Yes, why did you ask?” I was forced to ask after seeing my dad seated in the sitting room too, and as usual, he was with a newspaper. “Were you the one that invited him?” I demanded, and she nodded like she was more co
Davina pov“Who's that?” Alex questioned with a concerned look on his face and it seemed like he was now furious due to the way I talked to him earlier. No one could talk to Alex that way, and from the way he communicates with his dad, you will know he's not someone that his dad yells at. “Who?” He asked again, but I only looked at him for a moment before turning back to the phone. I swiped it to the right, and the call connected. “Trust me, the fact that you know your children now does not mean you can have a chance in their lives,” I said to him with anger in my voice. “The same goes for mine too.”“I'm sorry, but that's not what I was even going to say,” Sebastian muttered shakily, and I only folded my hands above my chest. “Then what was the meaningless thing you were going to say?” After all, almost everything he had been saying for some days now had been gibberish. “Why did you hide it from me?” He asked and I furrowed an eyebrow even though he could not see me. “For three
