Chapter 1

Golden lights glistened in the Silverbow Pack's magnificent hall. As the pack celebrated another year of supremacy, there was a lot of conversation and laughter. I was standing in the far corner with a tray full of wine goblets. The visitors' clean suits and flowing gowns stood in sharp contrast to my tattered clothing.Slave, hurry up!” a savage voice yelled.I recoiled and rushed over to the table where Lydia, the daughter of the Beta, and her friends were seated. She scowled at me while her perfectly manicured nails drummed anxiously on the wooden table.I bowed my head and put the goblet in front of her, murmuring, "Yes, ma'am.""Are you able to slow down?" Lydia's voice could be heard across the nearby tables as she scoffed. My cheeks burned with embarrassment as laughter burst around me."I apologize, ma'am," I said as I took a step back, my hands shaking.Lydia's voice was full of hate as she leaned in closer. "Avoid just standing there." Get more wine. Or are you too dim-witte

Chapter 2

Tension permeated the banquet hall's atmosphere. I could sense it as soon as I arrived. I tried to ignore the stares and whispers as I walked around the room with my tray of wine glasses.Since last night, everything has been different. Everything about Thorne's presence and eyes felt different. The attraction, the connection that seemed to hum between us. I still found it hard to believe. Was he my true partner? Or was it all in my head?I saw Thorne as I made my way through the crowd. He appeared to be every bit the strong Alpha he was as he stood by the fireplace. But something wasn't quite right. He had a tough, aloof face. He wasn't specifically focusing on anyone, save for her, of course.Lydia.I tried to ignore the ache of jealousy that squeezed at my chest. Her hand rested softly on Thorne’s arm, and he didn’t draw away. It wasn’t right, yet I couldn’t stop myself from feeling like an outsider. It was obvious they shared something.I looked away quickly, determined not to let

It was unexpected. I was unable to. However, it was taking place. With an intensity that made my stomach turn, Thorne stood in the middle of the pack, staring at me. Painfully, my heart raced against my ribs. Lydia's eyes gleamed with joy as she stood beside him.Thorne's strong, decisive voice echoed through the corridor, "I have made my decision."With my heart racing, I stepped back. I was having trouble breathing, and my hands were shaking.Thorne went on, his tone becoming icier, "You are a disgrace to the Silverbow Pack." "Your weakness has been exposed. And you are hereby exiled for that.I was struck in the chest by the words. Exile.Lydia watched me, a smirk curling her lips as her eyes glistened with icy amusement. "You know, Thorne is correct. This is not where you were supposed to be. You didn't belong. My world began to spin around me, and my mind went numb. Exiled? Just the clothes on my back, cast out into the wild?My mouth opened, but nothing came out. I gave it anoth

Chapter 4

The cave seemed like a cage, yet it had also become my haven. My pulse raced with panic at every sound I heard outdoors, including the rustle of leaves. The shadowy figure that had suddenly materialized and vanished was still in my memory. The sensation that I wasn't alone in this place persisted. And I was correct.A deep voice said from the cave entrance's shadows, "Good instincts."I whirled and pressed myself up against the chilly wall. A tall, dominating, and unnerving figure entered the gloomy light. His piercing eyes seemed to look right through me, his sharp features, and his self-assured smirk made my skin crawl."Who are you?" With a quivering voice, I demanded. Even though I knew I wouldn't have a chance if he attacked, my palms curled into fists. With mock submission, the man held out his hands. "Calm down, little wolf. I would have already hurt you if that was my intention. My heart thumping, I scowled at him. "Respond to the query.""Kane," he said plainly as he relaxed

Chapter 5

Shadows flickered on the cave walls as the fire flared between us. Despite the roaring wind outside, Kane's words continued to reverberate in my head.He had declared, "I know who killed your parents."With my heart racing in my chest, I sat still. I responded, scarcely raising my voice above a whisper, "You're lying."With a look of sadness and resolve on his face, Kane shook his head. "I wish I was." However, you are entitled to the truth.Tightening my throat, I pressed my legs to my chest. "How on earth could you be familiar with my parents? For years, they have been absent. With a forward tilt, Kane stated, "Because their death wasn't random." He spoke calmly yet firmly. "They were the target. And the culprit is someone I've been following for a while."Who?" The pressure of this moment caused my voice to break."Raven is her name," Kane stated. The mention of her name caused his eyes to darken. She is a dangerous and crafty rogue witch. She has been searching for anyone connecte

Chapter 6

The typical chorus of rustling leaves and chirping crickets had been replaced by an eerie hush in the forest. I tried to concentrate on surviving while I sat outside the cave sharpening a stick that Kane had given me. However, my mind kept returning to the Silverbow Pack. I kept wondering what was going on there despite everything they had done to me. Had someone taken Thorne's place, or was he still in charge? Was my absence even noticed by anyone?I dismissed the ideas and concentrated on the current task. Echoing Kane's words of encouragement, I said to myself, "You're stronger now." "They are no longer necessary for you." However, my chest constricted even as I spoke the words. I felt drawn to the pack I used to call home, but I wasn't sure if it was the mating link still there or simply old wounds that wouldn't go away. The quiet was abruptly broken by a low murmur of voices. I froze and strained to listen. I became aware that the voices were coming from the direction of the rive

Chapter 7

When Kane and I set out, the sun had just begun to dawn, and I was holding the enigmatic map carefully. We were led through the thick woodland by the faint lines that were engraved on the old parchment and gleamed gently. I had no idea where it would take me, but I felt an inexplicable tug in my chest that was pushing me on."Do you think we will learn anything about my parents from this map?" I broke the stillness by asking.Kane looked back at me as he moved a little closer. If not, it will at least provide us with information on your identity, Amara. That is perhaps the more crucial query.Uncertain if I wanted to know the answer, I scowled. "What happens if I don't want to hear it?"He gave a shrug. After that, you'll deal with it as you would have any other situation. with power.Although the words were intended to give me encouragement, they instead made my stomach twist tighter. We persisted, making our way through dense undergrowth and scaling down fallen logs until the trees

Chapter 8

I was enveloped by darkness. I had a weightless sensation as if I were floating in space. I was unable to determine if my eyes were open or closed. Was this the last time?In the distance, a dim silvery light suddenly emerged, getting stronger by the second. It encircled me, inviting and warm but strong. Through the void came a quiet but authoritative voice."Awaken, Melissa."I gasped as my eyes sprung open. The ground beneath me was cold and solid, but the room Kane and I had fallen into was anything from ordinary. Ethereal light glowed on the walls, and complex symbols pulsated in time with the pendant around my neck."How are you, Melissa?" The cloud was broken by Kane's words. His face was strained with worry as I turned to see him resting against a nearby wall. I answered in a trembling voice, "I think so." "What took place?"We got here when the floor gave way. With narrowed eyes, Kane scanned the room and said, "Wherever here is." "But I have a feeling that this wasn't an acci

Chapter 9

While Kane and I trekked through the thick woodland, the moon was low in the sky. Although there was a heavy silence between us, my thoughts were not at all calm. Anxiety rose with each step toward Silverbow territory."Melissa, are you certain about this?" The quiet was broken by the worried tone of Kane's voice. "It's risky to return to the pack that expelled you."I reassured myself by putting the pendant around my neck and whispering, "I know." However, I can't ignore them. Not when there could be a risk to them. And Thorne—despite my reluctance to acknowledge it remains my Alpha.Kane shook his head and moaned. "One day, your loyalty will lead to your death.""Loyalty isn't the issue," I replied, turning to look at him. It all comes down to doing the right thing. I won't be able to forgive myself if I don't try again.Kane's amber eyes were impenetrable as he regarded me for a time. At last, he gave a nod. "All right. But keep your identity a secret. Not quite yet. Before we act,

Chapter 10

My heart was beating in my chest as I stood motionless in the doorway. I was just thinking about Thorne, but Kane had already moved to subjugate Lydia. He appeared as if he was in disbelief as he stood there. He seemed to be seeing a ghost.Melissa? His face was filled with shock and disbelief as he whispered my name, his voice breaking.I took a deep breath and swallowed. He had turned me away without giving me a reason the last time I saw him. He stood in front of me now, his face white with blood loss, his hand gripping his side as if he were trying to keep himself together. He was seriously injured. Lydia had hit deeply with her dagger. The room erupted in sound as Lydia, her face contorted in rage, fought under Kane's hold before I could even finish thinking."Give me up!" she cried, flailing wildly. "You don't know what she did! What she intends to do!As he pinned her to the ground, Kane's voice was a hoarse snarl. Lydia, you won't be leaving. Not after your actions.Lydia star
