KATERINA Darkness, heavy and thick surrounded me. I flickered my long eyelashes a few times, trying to escape the darkness that was haunting . My throat felt sore, as if I hadn't drunk water for days or perhaps weeks. Some parts of my body ached, especially my left arm. What's happening? Why am I feeling this way? I couldn't help but question myself, desperately fighting the darkness that was crawling to me. It felt as though I had been run over by a train, or something heavier. Slowly, I opened my eyes, a pungent smell of disinfectants and medicines hitting my nostrils that made me crinkle my nose. I couldn't help but crease my eyebrows in confusion, trying to make sense of where I was and what was happening.
