Chapter 50

Cammy's POV Heat. So much heat. Weighing me down with a suffocating pressure. Argh! My entire body was burning up a fever. I managed to peel my eyes open and take inventory of my current dilema. The duvet was pulled up to my chin and Kai had his arm, leg and half his body locking me in. I had to escape. Now. Can't breathe. Too hot. Deep breath in. I nearly choked on the double clutch of air my body had tried to suck in. Tried being the key word. My lungs ached from the rapid expansion and the air seemed to get stuck on the dryness of my mouth on it's way down. Aah! I looked over at Kai again. He was in a deep sleep. He looked so peaceful that I almost didn't want to disturb him. Almost. I absolutely had to escape from this sauna I had myself trapped in. The heat was far to unpleasant to bare. I gently slid out of his embrace. I was swopping wet. Drenched in a layer of my own sweat. Ew. What was happening to me? My wolf whimpered, letting me know that she was

Chapter 51

Cammy POV Walking around the peaceful inner pack lands had my mind drifting off to the events of yesterday. My heart ached as I remembered the way Kai had looked at me. The raw betrayal in his eyes. I had always planned on eventually telling him the truth about my heritage—when he loved me enough that nothing could come between us. But now, I wasn’t so sure. The hatred he had for vampires wasn’t just something he had learned; it was something he had lived. Something that burned in his very bones. I was scared that his hatred for my lineage outweighted his growing love for me. Afraid that just maybe, Luna Melissa had been right. And for the first time, I felt it too. That intense hatred. That boy. The human. His lifeless eyes staring up at the night sky. Somehow, in his office, after we had been to see the vampire, Kai had pushed the memory into my head when he told me what that vampire had done. It's what had me in tears. And now, I couldn’t unsee it. The image was tearing me up

Chapter 52

Cammy POV His fingers curled around mine, firm but not forceful. My gaze flickered to the pale skin of his forearm, the muscles rippling beneath were smooth and deceptively strong. I could sense it in his aura. "Cammy Carter," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. Edgar lifted my hand slowly, his dark eyes never leaving mine. The movement was deliberate, calculated. He was watching me closely, gauging my reaction, reading me as if I were an open book. My pulse quickened when he brought my hand to his lips, the cold press of his mouth against my skin sending a sharp jolt through me. I let out a nervous laugh, more of a strangled sound than anything, and quickly pulled my hand away. But before I could fully retract it, he gripped my hand tighter and he inhaled deeply, as if savoring something delicious, something only he could perceive. Panic flared in my chest. That was what Kai had done the night we discovered our bond. It had been intimate, instinctual—something sacred.

Chapter 53

Kai's POV Naked. She's fucking naked. And pressed up against me. Arms wrapped around my torso. One leg resting on top of mine, exposing the soft, smooth, fleshy jewel nestled between her toned thighs. The heat of her pussy burning into my skin. The steady flurry of her breaths teasing the skin of my chest. Because she's sleeping. Out cold. And won't fucking wake up. Despite my gentle squeezing and probing. Since I'm not an active participant of somnophilia, no matter how inticing my sleeping beauty is, spread out on top of me. I decide that it's time to get up and leave her to her much needed rest. Maybe surprise Cammy with a greasy breakfast. The perfect hangover cure. Fuck, she was adorable last night. I grin as the memories play across my mind. She must have removed her clothes in her drunken state at some point throughout the night. My girl was a light weight. Couldn't handle her drink. So fucking cute. As soon as I opened the bedroom door, I was assaulte

Chapter 54

Kai POV We carry our breakfast to the table and I begin shovelling food into my mouth before Cammy even sits down, avoiding the shitfaced grin on her face. The food nearly falls out my open, gaping mouth when she leans down and kisses me on the cheek and murmers, "I love you too Kai." Fuck it's suddenly hot in here! "So what time is Lindy getting here?" I divert and fucking berate myself for the not so smooth way I cross one ankle over my knee and cut through my bacon with slightly too much fervor, making it shoot halfway off my fucking plate. "In about 40 minutes." She says glancing up at the platinum plated wall clock. "You'll remember to buy the lamb for the roast tomorrow, right?" "Yeah. Relax Cameron. My fucking parents will be grateful if I serve them a fucking sandwich for lunch." "I highly doubt that will go over well." "They better be fucking happy with whatever free food they get in my house. I don't get why you had to invite them here." I can't help grumble

Chapter 55

Kai POV Lindy brought Vera and Angelique with her to fetch Cammy. I could feel that Cammy was pissed off, but honestly, I was grateful to the little midget. Our group had been friends for years and I didn't want to shake that more than it already was. Nate, Riley and I had been friends growing up. Vera and Angelique had always been around, being the daughters of my father's delta and beta. Naturally, Vera and Angelique found their place in our little group when Angelique and I started causally fucking. Alec and his friend Slade joined our group when Vera mated to Alec when she turned 18. The girls were strong females, and always looking for a way to the top. They were both after me, but I wasn't really into Vera when Alec was suddenly always around. When there was so much tension between Alec and his slut mate already. So mainly, she fucked around with Nate and Riley when Alec wasn't around. And I fucked with Angelique when our group was together. But, when it was just the g

Chapter 56

Cammy POV I could still feel the ghost of Kai’s touch on my skin, the heat of his hands lingering even as I sat in the backseat next to Lindy. My head swirled with thoughts, a mix of irritation with my present predicament and quiet shock at my own actions earlier with Kai. When we had realized that Lindy had brought her friends with her, Kai's ex fuck-buddy at that, I had been pissed. Kai had pulled me off my knees and fucked me from behind on the table, leaving them to awkwardly wait by the car while I screamed out my orgasm, just like Kai's rough voice in my ear was telling me to. Than telling me what a good girl I was. Fully able to hear what was happening inside, Lindy tried to distract them with conversation, while Vera giggled and Angelique stayed quiet. Kai had smirked and told me not to wash his scent off me, to let them know that he'd just fucked me. I was horrified that he'd suggest that, horrified that I'd just allowed Kai to screw me like this, with them listening i

Chapter 57

Cammy POV The sun hung low on the horizon as I approached home, its fading glow casting long shadows across the path. Every step felt heavier than the last, my mind a storm of conflicting emotions. I'd spent the entire walk trying—and failing—to steady my nerves, but the weight of my actions pressed down on me in an unforgiving grip. Treason. That was what I’d just committed. A crime punishable by death. But somehow, what cut deepest wasn’t what I'd done against my pack or my alpha—the alpha king! It was what I'd done against Kai. What did this mean for us? For our bond? The thought of standing against him again made my stomach twist painfully. Would I do it again? Could I keep choosing this path if it meant going against the man I loved? And yet, how could I stand by and do nothing while my pack continued to hunt vampires as if their lives held no worth? This wasn’t just about Edgar anymore. This was bigger. I was caught between two sides. And I had no idea where I truly b

Chapter 58

Kai’s POV The forest was silent, but my mind was anything but. The truth sat heavy in my chest, a weight I couldn’t shake. Cammy—my sweet, gentle mate—was a fucking vampire hybrid. I could still hear her voice, soft and fragile, when she told me. I could see the way she curled into herself, waiting for my reaction, waiting for me to reject her. She had expected me to walk away. And for one, fleeting moment, I had. I had stepped out of the house, the walls closing in on me, my breath ragged as I shifted into my beast. I needed to run, to tear through the woods and let my instincts override the chaos in my head. My entire belief system had been shattered. I had spent my life hunting vampires, hating them, knowing them as nothing more than monsters that fed on the weak, taking pleasure in the suffering they inflicted. And now? Now, my mate—my entire fucking world—was part of them. "My mate." My wolf growled possessively, not happy with my thoughts. I ran until my lungs burne

Chapter 59

Kai's POV The weight of her confession pressed down on me like a crushing force, suffocating and unrelenting. “I freed Edgar.” What the fuck?! The words echoed in my head, each syllable slicing through me, carving into something I wasn’t sure could heal. I was willing to risk everything for Cammy, to keep her secrets. But clearly, she was willing to risk everything to go against me. Without even considering what this would do to me or our people. And fuck, she had no idea what a sick bastard Edgar was. Cammy had made a mistake—a catastrophic, world-altering mistake. And she had just admitted it, eyes wide and brimming with guilt. But it wasn’t enough. The damage was done. Through our bond, I felt myself recoiling, closing off to her. A muscle ticked in my jaw as I forced myself to stay rooted, to keep from losing myself to the rage thrumming beneath my skin. My beast clawed at the surface, demanding action, demanding retribution. But from who? As furious as I was, as much a
