Kat’s POVA wall of stones and dirt covered the entrance completely. The tunnel had been blocked—collapsed on purpose. It looked fresh, like someone had done it recently. My stomach dropped. “No, no, no…” I whispered, running forward and touching the wall. My fingers brushed over the rough stones, dust falling on my hands. I pushed, then hit the wall hard, hoping maybe it would give. But it didn’t. It was solid. Completely sealed.“Damn it!” I shouted, hitting it again, harder this time. My voice echoed through the tunnel. Panic and frustration rose inside me like fire.Conrad came beside me, his face pale. “They must’ve found it,” he said quietly. “Someone must’ve seen us use it before.”I turned around, looking at Anna and Mom. Anna was holding her tight, her face filled with worry. Mom looked exhausted, her head resting on Anna’s shoulder, her eyes half-closed.I clenched my fists, my jaw tight. The air around us felt heavier now. “We can’t go back,” I said through gritted teeth.
