Chapter 101Jessica Hemsworth I barely slept through the night, my mind occupied with so many thoughts and questions, and before morning, I had already made up my mind that I was going to meet Liam.‘Hey! Send me the address. I'll see you in a bit’.My grip tightened on my phone once I sent him the text. I just hope I'm doing the right thing. Then I left for the bathroom. My phone screen lit up as I walked back into the room minutes later, and I reached for it.Liam had sent the address… The restaurant we met last time.‘I'll meet you by 8 A.M’.Then I tossed my phone back on the bed and proceeded to get ready.By 7:30 A.M, I was walking down the stairs.“Hey! You're ready for the office?” Oliver's smiles welcomed me as I reached the living room.“I ordered food for us, and it just came in. Let's have breakfast.” He said, glancing at the dining area, and I followed his gaze.“I'm sorry, but I have somewhere important to be.”Colours drained from his face as he locked eyes with me.“I

Chapter 102Jessica Hemsworth ‘Your mom was murdered’My heart clenched so tightly that my breath caught, and my grip tightened on the fork.“Jess? Are you alright?” I felt a hand on my shoulder, then Oliver's voice followed. Our eyes met as I lifted my gaze to him.“You’ve not touched your food.” He continued. My eyes swept around the dining area. Oliver's dad, Emma, and Jonathan all stared at me worriedly.I've been distracted since we got here.“I noticed you've been weirdly quiet. Is everything alright, Jessica?” Grandpa asked worriedly.I flashed a smile and nodded. “Yeah, I'm fine.”Ollie raised a brow, as if asking if I was sure that I was fine, and I nodded. Then my mind wandered off again. I heard them talking and laughing, but I didn't hear a word that they said.Once we were done eating, Emma offered to clear the table, and Jonathan helped her.I stood on the balcony, staring into space, my mind blank, and my heart aching.“Grandpa is insisting that we spend the night here

Chapter 103 Viktor Holt My blood boiled beneath my skin, jaw tightened, and eyes glued to my phone as the call dropped for the umpteenth time. Seriously, Jess? Is she really playing this game with me? I pulled out my bedside cabinet's drawer. Anger surged through me as I was welcomed by those photos, laying there. The way Jess smiles… I had never seen her that happy for the years that we were married. “Who is this man?” I muttered, my brows knitting together. For a second, I wanted to assume it was Mr. Hall. ‘Come on, Viktor. Don't be ridiculous. She's not Mr. Hall's type. Besides, no man wanted her. You did her a favour by getting married to a shameless scheming woman like her’ I let out a scoff. She'll come back to me. It's only a matter of time, and she would come back running to me. With that in mind, I tossed the pictures back into the drawer, and just as I stood to leave my room, a knock came on the door, followed by Susanne's voice. “Are you there, Viktor?” She cal

Chapter 104SusanneMy knuckles cracked as I clenched my fingers tightly beside me, my inside burning with anger.Viktor never seems to notice me no matter how hard I try, and it's already driving me nuts.“What do I do now?” I muttered, dragging my fingers through my hair as I paced restlessly in my room.Jess was slowly leaving the picture now, but he doesn't look like he's ready to let her go, and it's annoying me so fucking much.I grabbed my phone from the bed and scrolled through it, but paused and let out a sigh, throwing myself on the bed.“I can't even think of anything… Ugh! This is driving me nuts.”I paused as I heard a faint creaking of the door outside.“Is Viktor back?”I stood frustratingly and dragged myself out of the room, but paused once I stepped out into the walkway, my brows knitted together as I was welcomed by Jeremy. He paused and took a step back, his body trembling, eyes glistening with tears. My eyes swept over his body, settling on the loaf of bread and a

Chapter 105Jessica Hemsworth ‘You still haven't gotten information about the man? This is taking forever’I hissed out loudly, wiping the text again, then tossed my phone on the bed and dragged myself into the bathroom. It's been three fucking days, and Liam still hasn't contacted me yet. I don't know how long I'd be able to keep up with this.I paused at the door as I stepped out of the bathroom and saw my phone screen light on.That must be him.I reached for it with speed, my heart fluttered once I confirmed it was really him.Liam;‘I spoke with a detective. Let's meet tonight at this address. Don't be late’I let out a sigh of relief, my grip tightening on the phone, as my eyes locked on the screen.I'm finally going to get that bastard that murdered my mom.‘Thank you. I'll be there’Then I got ready for the office and headed out of my room.I met Oliver in the living room, struggling to knot his tie. He paused once he noticed my presence, a smile creeping up his face.“Good

Chapter 106 Jessica Hemsworth Liam told the detective everything he knew about my mom, and how he got to find out that night that she was murdered. According to him, he was in town that day to meet her for something important, but she didn't show up at the place, and when he called, she picked but didn't say anything… He just heard a faint masculine voice on the other end, talking to someone on the phone that she had been taken care of. He'd tried to testify several times that it wasn't just an accident, but nobody ever listened to him. I was already in tears by the time he was done narrating it to the detective. The thought of what she must've gone through… how scared she must've been at that moment, and how she must've called for help but couldn't get any, broke my heart. She could've survived it if she had seen help. Liam came to sit beside me, holding me in his arms as he gently patted my back. “We'll find the culprit… I promise you, we will.” I turned to him and

Chapter 107Oliver My chest burned with jealousy, jaw clenched tightly, and fingers tightened on the steering wheel as I stared at Jess and Liam, smiling at each other. When I got a text from Jess earlier, I tried to call her immediately, but her phone was unreachable, so I traced her down here.I let out a scoff, dragging my fingers through my hair, only one question echoed in my head… Are they dating now?Without wasting another second, I turned the car and drove home.Back home, I paced restlessly in my room, my chest pumping up and down, and my blood boiling beneath my skin.‘Come on, Oliver. Why are you being like this? It's not like you two are dating or something’.I told myself, but still, the anger only burned even more.I quickly composed myself as I heard the sound of heels clicking along the walkway, and seconds later, a gentle knock sounded on the door.My breath caught in my throat, fingers tightened beside me.“I want to be alone. Please go away.” I said, but those wor

Chapter 108 Jessica Hemsworth ‘Hey! Did you find anything yet?’ I wiped the text for the umpteenth time, tossing my phone on the table. ‘Focus, Jess. Liam will call you if he finds anything’ I dragged my fingers through my hair, my eyes locked on my computer screen absentmindedly. I'd been looking for a way I could do my investigations too, but I had no idea where I could start from. I couldn't just walk up to the cops and tell them my mom was murdered without any evidence. My phone pinged with a text. Jeremy… I tightened my jaw and rolled my eyes when I saw another message from him. I wasn't ready for my mood to be ruined even more by that rude brat. A gentle knock sounded on the door, bringing me back to reality. I blinked, surprised as Liam walked in. “Mr. Liam…” He smiled, his eyes locked on me. “Why are you here? Did you find something yet?” I asked as I shot to my feet, my eyes searching for an answer. He sighed, pulling out a chair to sit. “Not yet. Detective E

Chapter 109 Jessica Hemsworth Back at the office, I walked in on Oliver standing by the window, staring outside. “I'm here, Mr. Hall… You wanted to discuss something with me.” I said nervously, my voice almost shaky. My breath caught in my throat, and fingers tightened on my phone as he turned to face me. I swallowed nothing. ‘Why are you being like this, Jess? You did nothing wrong!’ I screamed in my head, but still, seeing the way he stared at me silently made me feel uncomfortable and guilty. “Uhm…” I paused and cleared my throat. “You wanted to see me.” His eyes roamed my body, then to my face, his face blank. He hesitated. “Never mind. I sorted it out already.” He said casually, pulling out his seat. I raised my brows and blinked, but didn't say a word. “Alright. Let me know if you need my attention.” And without another word, I turned on my heels and headed to the door. Just as I was about to make my way out of his office, his office cut through the thick air, heav

Chapter 110Oliver I pulled up at the bar, and as I walked in, I sighted Liam sitting by the counter, sipping a wine.I balled my fists beside me as their image of hugging each other earlier popped up in my head again. Are they dating now? ‘Relax, Oliver. You'll find out soon’ Sighs.Liam's face softened and he waved at me once he saw me.I walked over to sit beside him.“You're late, you know?” He glared at me playfully.“You didn't tell me there was a fixed time.” I smirked at him, and he scoffed.“You are annoying, you know?”I ignored him and ordered a glass of spirit… I can't hold my liquor, but still, I needed something hard to clear my hand.Liam held my hand as I lifted the glass to my lips, stopping me.“When did you start drinking?” He raised a brow. “You have zero tolerance for liquor… You know that, don't you?”For a second, I thought of dropping it, but drank it anyway. We sat silently, just staring into space, many thoughts lingering on my mind.“Jess and I are dating
