I was finally able to spend some time with my best friends and catch up with them."I thought you ditched us for your boyfriend. Don't you dare refuse to hang out with us again. We're way more important than some guy, you know," one of my friends complained before we parted ways.I nodded in agreement. "Don't worry. From now on, I'll make sure to be at every get-together as long as I have time to spare."After I got into a relationship with Zeke, I directed all my focus and attention toward him. By prioritizing him in all aspects of my life, I lost my friends and my social life. In hindsight, I realized it was an extremely foolish decision. I checked my phone and realized that Zeke had transferred the money back to me. By the time I reached home, it was 3:00 am.After turning on the lights, I was surprised to find Zeke sitting on the couch. I was so stunned that I had to do a double take. Despite noticing that I was drunk, he didn't bother lending me a helping hand to keep

All of a sudden, something seemed to click in Zeke's mind. He looked at me and explained, "I just posted that comment to commemorate the occasion. It doesn't mean anything. Don't read too much into it."I shook my head. I wanted to say something, but he beat me to it."Why are you acting like this, then? Do you think I shouldn't have gone to Scarlett's birthday party?" he asked. He continued, "We've known each other for ten years now. Although we dated for a short while, our relationship is strictly platonic right now. It wouldn't be appropriate for me to miss my good friend's birthday celebration."I stared at him with an understanding expression. "I understand that, Zeke. It's getting late—you should go and get some rest."Zeke fell silent. He was staring at me. It felt like he was trying to figure out if I was actually as calm as I appeared to be.Moments had passed, and he still didn't have an answer to his question. Then, he tried to wrap his arm around my waist, but I moved

I couldn't help but cry for a short while. I found the entire situation laughable. At that point, I'd lost count of how many times Zeke had abandoned me for Scarlett. I'd gotten used to this feeling by now.I looked at a couple who were strolling down the street while holding hands. Suddenly, I remembered that Zeke and I used to do that, too.As the taxi drove off, I couldn't quite see the couple anymore. My memory of Zeke was starting to become a blur, too. After I reached home, Zeke sent me an update. "I just got Scarlett back to her place. She keeps throwing up. I don't know if I'll be able to go home tonight," his message read.My mind went blank as I stared at my phone screen. If my memory served, this was the first time Zeke had ever sent me an update.I once asked him how many people were going to a get-together, and he thought I was trying to make a big fuss out of nothing."Am I obligated to tell you every single detail? Don't you find that exhausting?"Afterward, I

I could tell that Zeke was hesitating. So, I maturely offered him a way out. "You should go pick her up. Just drop me off at a junction somewhere up front.""I can't do that—what about you?" he objected anxiously. "I think it's better if I drive you all the way there."I smiled and said, "It's fine. I can just get a taxi. You can just drop me off here."I pointed at the side of the road in front. He froze for a moment but stopped the car anyway. After I got out of the vehicle, he told me, "I'll make sure to head home earlier today."I nodded in response. He stared at me with a concerned expression and asked again, "Do you think you'll have trouble getting a cab? I could tell Scarlett to get to the venue by herself if it means less trouble for you."I looked up at him and urged him to get going. "I'll be fine. You should hurry up and go. It's not nice to be late."Eventually, Zeke's car drove off. I submitted my paperwork and checked the date on my phone. After doing some calc

Zeke grabbed my shoulders and pleaded, "I told you—I'd spend every single holiday with you from here on out."I removed his hands and scoffed. "It's a shame we won't have a future together, then."He was sobbing hysterically. He wouldn't leave me alone. He insisted that he didn't want to break up and that he wanted to leave the country with me. Since he wouldn't take no for an answer, I eventually gave in.Overjoyed and relieved, he pulled me into a hug. I was enjoying our final embrace with a bitter feeling in my heart.…One random morning, I quietly packed my bags. I opened the door to the bedroom and glanced at Zeke, who was still sound asleep. I softly bid him goodbye before glancing at my home, feeling nostalgic. If everything went as planned, this was probably the last time I'd ever see this place again. After leaving my home country, I planned on staying abroad for the rest of my life.I took a taxi to the airport alone. Afterward, I sat on a chair and waited for my tu
