Chapter 1

Cal’s POV“Where is my money?” Alpha Damon’s voice roared through the small, broken house. His boots crushed the weak wooden floor as he stormed inside. Chapter 2

Cal’s POV“Dad!” I screamed, fumbling with my seatbelt as panic flooded through me.Dad gasped, his knuckles turning white as he gripped the steering wheel.“Hold on!” he shouted.The car swerved violently as Dad yanked the steering wheel to the side to avoid the wolf standing in the middle of the road. My world spun. The tires screeched against the road, and then everything flipped upside down.The car rolled. Once, twice, maybe more.The sound of crunching metal and shattering glass filled my ears. I screamed as my head slammed hard against the window, a sharp burst of pain exploding in my skull.Finally, the car came to a violent, sudden stop. It was tilted awkwardly against something, maybe a tree or a ditch. Cals POV“Allison?” I whispered in disbelief. I didn’t expect her to be here. I thought all of Damon’s soldiers had lost track of me.“You think you can run from me, you little rat?” Allison sneered, stepping closer with that familiar cruel smile I had seen too many times before.“You’ve always been trash… just like your parents.”My body tensed. My breaths came in ragged gasps, my heart pounding in my chest from the run. I hated the way she spoke about my parents.“What are you doing here?” I asked, my voice shaking.She laughed like a maniac. “Surprised? Thought you were getting away?” She was just like her father. “I told Dad I wanted to come along for fun. He thought I’d slow him down, so I followed him in secret. Guess who was right?”I just stared at her, my mind scanning through a list of things I could do to get away. I was too weak to fight—I didn’t even have a wolf. She made a clicking sound with her tongue, and two other girls stepped out from behind the trees. They smirked

Chapter 4

Cal’s POVThe sharp, sterile scent of disinfectant was the first thing to hit me when I regained consciousness. My eyelids felt impossibly heavy, but I forced them open. Blinding white lights glared down at me from the ceiling, and slowly, my surroundings came into focus: a pale blue curtain, a stark white wall, and the steady beeping of a heart monitor beside my bed.I was in a hospital.The crisp white sheets, the firm mattress, and the faint smell of alcohol clung to the air.
