Chapter 41Anna's POV. Deep into the night, even the moonlight could not brighten the turgid darkness in our room, Gabriel slipped in. The lights were off and I intentionally closed the curtains, wanting sometime to myself. He moved without any challenges and tucked himself into the bed. I was awake, barely getting any sleep with the thought of him straining my head. Territory scouting, huh? Well, I waited to confirm his excuse. My eyes were void of sleep as I was curious to check if he would be back with a strange scent, or better yet, a happy mood. By the time I got a faint smell of the woods and shrubs, my chest felt slightly relieved. I pretended to be deep in my slumber, unaffected by his noisy footsteps. I waited with my eyes closed till he was done with his shower, and as he laid next to me, I soaked up his smell with my nose.I thought he would find out that I wasn't asleep yet, but he didn't. To my surprise, he pulled closer to me, pressing a soft kiss on my forehead an

Chapter 43. Anna's POV. The mysterious stares from nowhere only got worse. Chills crawled down my spine like worms in a hole. Curiosity took its course and I cautiously turned around on my chair, trying to place my eyes on a definite figure. Howbeit, the buzzing activities in the hall were too much to hone my focus. As the night dragged on, the feeling that I was insecure worsened, not for my body, but of my wellbeing. Our wellbeing. The harder I tried breathing to stop myself from acting out, the stronger the sensation persisted. My wolf's senses were up at a high alert and it was hard to keep still. My claws were a few inches from thrusting out and my heartbeat was the fastest in months. “Come out wherever you are,” I mumbled, slowly and cautiously getting up to my feet. I turned around with my eyes darting in all directions and my brows arched in restrained anger. Someone was tailing my every move, they studied me and made sure to keep their image hidden. And they were goo

Chapter 45. Gabriel's POV. Anna wasn't playing games. She tried to stop the pain through breathingUnfortunately, it only got worse. She cried and placed her hands on her forehead while I stood frozen, eyes widened in shock. “Aria,” I jerked myself into action. “What.. I…” She grabbed the sheets forcefully and pulled backwards to rest against the wall. She scrunched in pain as she continued wincing. Concerned, I scurried my pockets, eagerly looking for my phone. I needed to call the pack doctor. My hands dug out my phone the second I grabbed hold of it. Without wasting time, I dialed the first number I thought was the pack doctor’s. It rang for a long time before the doctor's croaky voice echoed through the phone. “Hello, Alpha,” “Where are you? Come to the pack house now! I need you here,” I barked at the phone. “Now? It's pretty late in the night, don't you think so?” His voice faltered with fear through the phone. I twisted my lips in defiance and slight disgust. “What s

Chapter 47Anna's POV. When I thought it could not get any worse than being chased down by unknown men, reality showed me it had tricks against us. It made sure I got the hint that it was going to get darker. Was Gabriel dead? Why was he lying stiff? The thoughts came in because they were not moving a muscle. The blood on Gabriel's head pooled around him. “God, no, Please. This cannot be happening right now,” I begged with tear filled eyes.Marcus was out cold, Gabriel was… “No,” I sniffled. I stood helpless, my body making way to expel the baby out of me. In my horrid state, the car that had knocked Gabriel off the path reversed and a group of muscular men jumped out. At the first glance of the van, I recognized that it was the same car that disappeared during the hot chase. I gasped in fear as the men stepped out and rushed in my direction. “Grab her,” they said and my tears intensified. They could not be trying to kidnap me, right? How many times would I have to go th

Chapter 49. Anna's POV. ‘You think we are after you’ My ears rang with those words repeatedly. I was hallucinating, definitely, because why wouldn't they be after me? Why would they go all through all that trouble if they were not gunning for me? It might have been a threat, I said to myself. “They are trying to shut me up and it's not going to work,” I muttered, clenching the muscles in my feet. Unfortunately, as hard as I tried to delude myself that they meant another thing, the evidence tugged at my chest. These spies were being vague and I knew what they meant. I decided to ask the driver what he meant. Yes, he looked menacing like he was about to throw me off a bridge, but I had to summon up courage if I wanted to understand where I was going to find myself. “Hey!” My voice cracked under my heavy breath. “You said you aren't after me, what do you mean?” I glared. The driver exchanged a ridiculous look with his team and they burst out cackling. The driver nearly lost hi
