Chapter 21 Gabriel's POV. Two days went by and Anna gave me some space, I could tell she was hurt. Blair's return shattered her heart in two and her announcement of a son shred Anna's halves to pieces. It wasn't the life I wanted her to live for the short time we had but I couldn't do anything but watch reality unveil its dirty twists in life. As expected, Blair became a thorn in my vineyard. She picked issues in little things and fought endlessly to get my attention. If I wasn't rooted and so interested in Anna, she would have gotten me to my knees and forced me to beg for her attention. Chapter 23Anna's POV. His kiss was reassuring. The anger I housed in my chest slowly fickled out like a boulder rolling away from a passage. His lips caressed mine and when he pulled away, I found myself breathing hard. “What was that?” I softly asked, pressing my lips and hiding my hands behind my back. “We both needed it,” he replied, staring at me with those hazel eyes that worked wonders in my guts. I broke contact and stared at the floor, scraping my feet like a toddler excited to play outside. “So why did you come here… to this room?” He asked, taking a quick look around. “I don't know. It sort of just happened and here I am,” I replied, trying to hold back a smile. “I paced around for a while before you came knocking,” “We all do that when we are tense,” he said to me and glanced at my feet. I stopped scraping my feet as though his eyes were now a stern warning. He shook his head, probably wondering why I stopped. “I don't think you do,” I replied, my cheeks flushed.

Chapter 25Anna's POV. I moved closer to her as she turned in my direction, instantly putting on a genuine, bright smile. “My Lady,” she called, bowing her head repeatedly. “How is your day going so far?” I asked, a wide smile etched on my face. It was saddening to eavesdrop on Blair using an innocent child just for the sake of guilt tripping an ex; an ex that wasn't ready to give her the time of day.
