ISABELLA The sharp crack of gunfire echoed closer, louder too close. My breath hitched as Damian grabbed my hand, yanking me toward the side of the room. In one swift motion, he drew a gun from beneath his jacket, his jaw tight, eyes scanning the shadows. He pulled me behind a crumbling concrete block, shielding me with his body.
