Sienna's POV That morning felt warmer than usual. The sun had only risen halfway, casting a soft glow over the front yard. I stood on the porch with my arms folded, still wearing a thin sweater because the morning air was sharp enough to bite. Noah jogged toward the car, his jacket half open like always. “Mommyyy! Look!” He lifted a small lunchbox with dinosaur pictures that we had prepared together the night before. “Today I brought star-shaped sandwiches!” I chuckled at his enthusiasm. “Yeah, be careful. The filling might fall out if you shake it like that.” He immediately hugged the lunchbox tightly, as if my words were a serious threat. “It won’t fall! I’ll protect it!” Liam appeared right behind him, his hair slightly messy from the morning breeze. A white T-shirt and a black jacket made him look effortlessly handsome. He carried Noah’s school bag in one hand and walked over to me. “I’m heading out,” he said

Sienna's POV I stood and walked to the small workspace in the corner of the house. The desk was too neat for someone who was supposedly a writer. The laptop was closed, notebooks stacked, pens lined up neatly. I touched the surface of the desk, pulled out the chair, and sat down. My back rested against it, and for a moment I just stared blankly at the wall. There were many things I should have been thinking about. Things I should have faced. But for a few minutes, I allowed myself to do nothing. Not be a mother, not be a partner, not be a writer. Just be someone breathing, listening to her own house. My phone vibrated in the pocket of my sweater. I took it out and read a brief notification from the school parents’ group. Ordinary information. Schedules. Reminders. I replied as needed, then put it away again. That felt like enough for now. I stood up once more and opened the curtains a little wider. Light poured in, warming the room. Tiny specks of dust danced in the air. I smi

Sienna's POV I nearly choked on my own breath. “T-this afternoon?” “If not, tomorrow works too.” I blinked several times, trying to process it. A well-known illustrator rumored to be closed-off and selective with projects was offering two time options without hesitation? Was he always this fast? Or had Liam said something beforehand? I didn’t know. But one thing was clear, I couldn’t sound uncertain in front of someone this professional. I glanced at the wall clock. It was still morning. I could prepare a draft of ideas and some concept notes before the afternoon. “This afternoon works,” I finally said, my voice steady despite my racing heart. “Where should we meet?” “I have a small studio in the city center. I’ll send you the address by message. Three o’clock?” “Three o’clock,” I repeated. “Okay.” His voice sounded like a final decision. “I’ll be waiting. See you later.” Click. The call ended immediately. I stood frozen for a few seconds, phone still in

Sienna's POV After finishing all my notes, I closed my laptop and reached for my phone. The clock on the wall showed a little past one. I had to be at Rudolf’s studio in two hours. If I left at two, I would arrive right on time. But there was one more thing I needed to do to let Liam know that I wouldn’t be able to pick up Noah. I let out a short breath before dialing Liam’s number. The first ring connected quickly. “Hello, love?” Liam’s voice sounded warm, as it always did. I felt a small wave of relief immediately. “Liam, are you busy?” “No, I just wrapped up a small meeting. What’s going on?” His tone shifted, more focused. I bit my lip. “I don’t think I can pick up Noah this afternoon.” There was a brief pause. “Okay. Why? Are you all right?” “I’m fine,” I answered quickly. “It’s just that I have an appointment with Rudolf. He agreed to meet today, at three.” Liam sounded like he was nodding. “Rudolf? Ah, that illustrator. It's good that he agreed to meet on su

Sienna's POV My thoughts drifted back to Liam. The way his voice had sounded earlier. Calm. Trusting. Not interrogating, not controlling, just present. I realized how rare that feeling was: being supported without being watched. It gave me a kind of courage I hadn’t noticed before. I took a deep breath, then slowly let it out. My shoulders felt lighter. “Okay,” I whispered again. “One step.” I turned off the light in the workspace and carried the tote bag to the door. I picked up my car keys from the small bowl on the side table. Everything felt orderly, as if today had been carefully arranged from the start. A few minutes later, I stopped in the middle of the living room. There was a large mirror there, reflecting my entire figure from head to toe. I looked at my reflection briefly not with criticism, but with acknowledgment. Once everything was ready, I stood before the living room mirror. I adjusted my h

Sienna's POV There was a brief pause. The road ahead grew busier, tall buildings slowly replacing rows of small shops. The city center was getting closer. “Thank you, Liam,” I said at last, more quietly. “Really.” “You’re welcome.” I could almost picture the small smile on his face. “Let me know after the meeting, okay? No matter how it goes.” “I will.” We ended the call, but the warmth lingered in my chest. My breathing felt a little steadier. I refocused on the road. Glass buildings reflected the midday sunlight, making me squint. In the distance, signs for creative studios began to appear. I wasn’t there yet, but the distance no longer felt so far. I remembered the notes in my notebook, character concepts, color tones, the emotions I wanted to convey. All of it was real. All of it was mine. “This isn’t just about Rudolf,” I whispered to myself. “This is

Sienna's POV All I could do was watch as the graphite pencil in Rudolf’s hand moved swiftly across the paper. He didn’t ask any more questions, didn’t explain what he was drawing. Just line after line appearing, slowly forming something. His focus was so intense that I felt my presence in the room nearly fade into silence. The studio was quiet, save for the soft scrape of graphite against paper. Daylight poured in through the large window on the left, falling directly onto his worktable, as if the world itself had chosen to spotlight a single point: his hands. His sleeves were slightly rolled up, revealing veins that tightened each time he pressed the pencil harder. There was a rhythm to it fast, then slowing, pausing for a fraction of a second, then moving again with renewed certainty.I sat across from him, my back unconsciously straight. My notebook was still open on my lap, but my gaze no longer drifted down to it. All my notes, all the concepts I had carefully

Sienna's POV I left the studio with lighter steps. The nervousness was still there, but it had shifted into anticipation. That meeting hadn’t just gone well, it had gone far better than I’d imagined. And I smiled in relief. My book cover was finally on its way to being born.I paused in the hallway of the building, closing my eyes for a moment, letting every part of our conversation settle one by one.Rudolf was different from what I’d expected. I had thought he’d be cold, a perfectionist who was difficult to work with, or perhaps a self-proclaimed genius like so many famous illustrators. But he wasn’t. He was calm, direct, honest, and somehow, he felt safe. The way he read my character without many words made me feel truly respected as a writer.A feeling I rarely experienced.I leaned my back against the cool hallway wall, took a deep breath, then slowly let it out. My heartbeat still hadn’t fully calmed but no longer because of nerves. It felt

Sienna's POV The trip home felt very different from the journey earlier. Back then, I had been filled with nerves and worry, as if I were about to face the biggest test of my life. Now, my chest felt lighter instead. There was space, there was light, and something was slowly growing, something that felt like optimism. The taxi stopped at a red light, and I watched people walking along the sidewalk. They looked busy, rushed, as if the world were forcing them to move without pause. I used to be like that too, trapped in an exhausting rhythm, trying to prove myself to people who didn’t even care. But today, I felt different.Today, I felt like I was choosing myself.Liam’s phone call from earlier still echoed in my mind. There had been a note of pride in his voice, something I rarely heard. Maybe because I rarely did anything purely for myself without hesitation. I was too often afraid of being wrong, afraid of not being enough, afraid of losing to Emily’s shadow.

Sienna's POV The taxi finally began to move more smoothly. The road slowly opened up, leaving the accident site behind. As we passed it, I lowered my head briefly, as if paying respect to the moment I had just gone through.I reached into my bag, touching the sample cover book I had bought earlier. The cover was very simple, but its illustration radiated something I couldn’t explain. Rudolf was right, sometimes what’s strong is the very thing that looks fragile. My thoughts drifted back to the studio earlier. The way Rudolf paid attention to every detail as I spoke, the way he understood my intent from just one short sentence, the way he drew without unnecessary fuss all of it made me sure I had chosen the right person. He didn’t need many words to make me feel comfortable. And that made me feel valued.I looked at my reflection in the car window, eyes more alive than they had been that morning, a small smile that I didn’t know when it had appeared. Maybe I rea
