Rachel's eyes fluttered open, and she sat up with a start, her nap interrupted by her sister's voice. The general ward's fluorescent lights hummed above, casting a sterile glow on the rows of beds. Sara's face came into view, her eyes sunken, and her skin pale.
"What on earth are you doing here?"
Sara's arms were folded across her chest, her eyes fixed on Rachel. "I don't remember how I got here. I don't remember much of anything. But what are you doing here, Rachel?"
Rachel hesitated, searching for the right words. She gazed at Sara's fragile form, noticing the significant weight loss and dark circles under her eyes. "I was worried about you, Sara," she said softly, her head bowed.
Sara let out a dismissive scoff, and Rachel's eyes met hers, filled with sadness. "You were worried...about me? I thought I didn't exist to you. I thought I didn't matter and wasn't worth anything."
