SerenaWe are getting ready for our first night in Vegas. We spent our day exploring and doing some shopping. Tonight, we are going for dinner and drinks before hitting up the casino and restaurant in our hotel. I am excited to gamble a little. It isn’t something I have done before, not like this, but we have set limits for how much we are going to gamble because we don’t want to waste too much on it. Our limit is $5,000 between us, no more unless we win. We don’t want to go crazy, just have a little fun.I pull my red, strapless, thigh-length dress over my head, allowing the soft fabric to drape against my skin. It fits my curves nicely without being overly revealing. I step in front of the mirror to check my look and smooth the dress. My hair is styled in loose curls, and I keep my makeup subtle—a touch of mascara, blush, and lipstick. Conall appears behind me in the mirror, smiling. “You look beautiful.”I return the smile. “Thank you, and you look handsome.”Conall has a pair of

SerenaIt's our last night in Vegas, and we're keeping it low-key since we have a flight at nine tomorrow. We went out for dinner and then headed back to our room to relax with a movie, ordering dessert via room service. The first few days were busy and nonstop, but in a good way, which is why we decided on a more laid-back evening today. We were in bed, surrounded by a variety of desserts—from cakes to ice cream. It’s definitely too much sugar, but we’re ignoring that. We can work it off when we return home and get back into our daily routines. I set the cakes aside and focus on the ice cream before it melts—one dish, two spoons.“You know, we still have one more night here. We can try something we’ve never done before, well, not together," Conall says casually from beside me, as he shovels a spoonful of ice cream into his mouth. How can he eat so much at once without getting a brain freeze? I turn to him. “And what would that be?”A smirk curls on his lips. “We could get married. W

SerenaEverything is finally set in motion. Thanks to Eric and his contacts, all the evidence is now in trusted hands. An investigation will also be launched against the precinct. Henry will be arrested first for assault, followed by the rest of the family. They will face what’s coming to them soon enough. I worry about court time, but Conall and I will go in confidently and tell the truth. They won’t escape justice this time. They face years in prison for their actions, though not necessarily as many as a typical person might get. As long as they receive some punishment, it will be enough to help us move on, forget the past, and leave them behind. It's time for us to begin planning our new life, and that's exactly what we'll do. Starting Monday, we'll travel to different states over the next few weeks, searching for a new place to settle. We're looking at ranches in Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming, as well as properties in California, Maine, and New Hampshire. There will be quite a b

SerenaConall and I sit on the back porch, cuddled on the sofa beneath the starry night, listening to the waves crash. The others went to bed an hour earlier. It had been a wonderful day filled with good company, delicious food, and plenty of laughter. For just one day, it felt like all our worries and stresses disappeared. We're relaxing with a glass of wine and some snacks. “It really is stunning here, isn’t it? Peaceful, too.” I smile and glance up at him.“It really is. Could you see yourself living here permanently?” he asks, caressing my cheek.I close my eyes and respond to his touch. “No. Perhaps we could buy a summer house? Rent it out for the rest of the year? Honestly, I’d prefer to be farther from New York than we are now.” “Good point, but yes, we could buy a place for the summer," he agrees and kisses me softly.Tomorrow will be our last day here before we head to our next stop. It was nice to take a couple of extra days. It has given us time to de-stress and get to kn

SerenaAs we exit the airport and turn on our cells, we get loads of notifications. We glance at one another, confused, checking what it is, freezing when we see it.“It has finally happened,” I whisper. On the screen was breaking news that they had all been arrested and taken into custody, including Henry, his mother, his father, and some of the other people who work for them, who clearly helped them in their crimes. “I can’t believe it. Part of me thought they would find a way out of it.”“Me too, but it is official. It will be over soon enough,” I reply.“Well, not soon, because there is still a long way to go, but we are one step closer,” he replies, kissing me softly. He is correct; we still have a long journey ahead. The media will have a lot to say, and I understand we'll all be involved. Plus, there’s the court case, which may drag on for months. I can't help but sigh when I think about it. I wish there was a way to speed things up, but unfortunately, there isn't. “True. We
