Lahat ng Kabanata ng The Mafia's Slave: Claimed By My Stepbrother: Kabanata 131 - Kabanata 140

KEITH“Why would he kill himself?” I asked Saint.Michael was young and timid, and from the few times I had an encounter with him, he seemed reserved. It just didn’t add up that he would commit suicide.“This is why I said that they are not saints,” Saint said. “You have no idea what I get to deal with handling those bunch of lads,” he added.I didn’t like Saint’s tone because he was sounding like he hated the lads. This was the first time that I was noticing this, and it made me wonder if this was how he had always felt. There was no iota of compassion in his eyes or his voice, and it shook me to my core.If he didn’t love them or have compassion over them, he certainly couldn’t take care of them. “Since you concluded that Michael committed suicide,” I said even though I still didn’t believe it. “Why exactly would he do that?” I asked Saint deeply.Saint shrugged as though he couldn’t care less.“I don’t know, Keith,” he responded.I stared at Saint, realizing right here and now tha

JACKIEI called Tessa on the phone, but she didn’t pick up until the third ring, making me furious.“I have been calling,” I stated, anger evident in my voice.“I am sorry, miss Jackie, but I had to be careful that I was alone before taking your calls,” she answered dutifully.“Then you shouldn’t mention my name over the calls that we make,” I snapped at her.Sometimes, Tessa could be really dumb, and it upset me. Mentioning my name might implicate me and the connections we had had in the past.“Yes, I am sorry,” she apologized again.“Have you done what you ought to do?” I asked her even though I already knew the answer. If she had, I would have known already, but then again, I wanted to hear the response from her.“What…what I ought to do?” Tessa asked me, stuttering slightly.I sucked my teeth in annoyance, wondering why I had to deal with Tessa. If she was smarter and more intelligent, I would have succeeded in what I wanted to do for a long time now. I wouldn’t have had to tolera

MIAI watched Athena sit quietly, reading her book, and I yearned to speak, but I couldn’t bring myself to say anything. Since the last time we had a conversation, we hadn’t said a word, and she had been quiet.I felt really sad because I thought I had gotten a friend, and it just broke my heart that things had gone this way swiftly, especially as she was the only one I saw every moment. I wanted to read a book too. Heck, I was eager to see my library and get started on a book, but when I dozed off, Athena had placed the one that one of the book sellers gave me on the table in the room, which was close to where she sat. In order to get a hold of it, I would need to tell her to get it for me, but I couldn’t.Considering the fact that I never had friends while growing up, I didn’t know how best to handle this situation.“Do you want something?” Athena asked without taking her eyes from her book.I was surprised that she was speaking to me, as though she had known that I had been looking

JACKIEI walked from one corner of my office to the other, eagerly waiting for Tessa’s call. After my realization, now more than ever before, I knew that I would have to take care of Mia. I had always handled the women who tried to get in the way, and this wouldn’t be an exception.“Why isn’t she calling me back?” I asked myself impatiently. There was only one news that I wanted to hear, and that was the only news that would make me feel better. I realized that the more I delayed, the deeper Keith’s love went for her.“He is doing everything for her, but will not do anything for me,” I grumbled jealously. For the other women that he had been with, he had rarely done anything for them other than the occasional treats, and even that still got me jealous. I had often thought that Keith wasn’t the kind of man who was romantic; he was a Mafia after all, and I already knew that most Mafias didn’t have any business with love and romance, but I had been wrong.I only realized now that Keith h

KEITHCain and I had already made plans on how to get rid of Julian. He was getting too close, and I couldn’t allow that.“You sent for me,” Julian said as he walked into my study, along with Cain who had sent for him.“Cain and I found a link, and I want you both to go and check it out,” I told him.Julian looked at me skeptically, and for a second, I wondered if he could see the lies in my eyes. I wouldn’t be surprised because so far, he has displayed some qualities that were worrisome to me. “What link?” He asked.“We are still looking for those responsible for Don Milano’s attack, isn’t it?” I asked him in return, irritated by his question.Julian cleared his throat and asked, “Just the two of us?”“You went out on your own yesterday, didn’t you?” I sneered at him.Julian remained quiet.“You both may leave now so that you can find out what you need to, and return in time,” I added. Then I waved them off with my fingers. However, before they left, Cain and I exchanged one last kn
