Lahat ng Kabanata ng The Mafia's Slave: Claimed By My Stepbrother: Kabanata 121 - Kabanata 130

JACKIEI sped down the road, but I barely got out of Keith’s estate completely when my car careened to a stop.“What’s going on?” I asked myself worriedly. This had never happened before. I got down quickly to check, and I saw that one of my back tyres had been punctured by something I stepped on. “Damn!” I exclaimed in annoyance. How could this be happening right now? I definitely couldn’t go back because Keith might think that I did this on purpose, especially as I hadn’t shown obedience to go back instantly. Then, even if I had to, I would have to walk all the way down, and that would take me nothing less than forty-five minutes at a faster pace.“This isn’t happening to me,” I grumbled.Anyway, it wasn’t also unusual. I had been trained for situations like this. As a woman in the mafia, I could never be found helpless like those other weak and dependent women. So, I opened my trunk and brought out the tools to get the tyre changed. It would be faster than taking a forty-five min

MIA“Oh, Mia, you are awake,” Athena said when she was eventually able to get her eyes off the book she was reading.“For a while now, actually,” I said with a small smile.Athena looked at me, surprised.“Listen, I know I have only been here for a short moment, but I haven’t seen you crack up a smile, or even sound this better,” she said.“I do feel a little better,” I told her, and it was true.I slept soundly without any nightmares, and when I opened my eyes, I just felt better. The throbbing headache and the injuries on my body still hurt, but not as much, and so when I turned and saw Athena reading peacefully and quietly, I just watched her. I couldn’t really explain it, but there was just something soothing about watching her read, coupled with the fact that I already envied how she was as a woman. She was free, had a job that could take her anywhere in the world, and was fulfilled at a young age.It felt like Athena was living the life I had envisioned for myself, but my envy w

MIA“Mum, what are you doing here?” I asked her, surprised to see her in my room.I had just returned from a swim in Keith’s pool downstairs, and she was the first thing I set my eyes on.“How did you even get in?” I asked further.“Is that how to greet your mother?” She asked.“And why are you even sitting comfortably on my bed?” I questioned her, ignoring her question.I didn’t even know which was making me more upset; the fact that she was here, or that she was sitting on my bed.“You have lost all the manners I taught you, Mia,” she complained.“Excuse me, but you didn’t teach me anything other than to survive all by myself at a very tender age!” I fired at her.“Don’t you dare raise your voice at me,” she warned. She still wasn’t standing up from my bed and it was really infuriating me. “How did you get in?” I asked her, getting back to my initial question. “Keith has so many bodyguards and securities, so how did you get past them?” I questioned further. “How the heck did you ev

MIAFor the first time in days, I didn’t get to sleep much during the night. Since the incident, I had been sleeping more than I had stayed awake, but last night, I had slept for only a few hours. The rest of the night had had me staring into the dim roof and just thinking about nothing in particular. Athena had been sleeping on the bed close to me; one that had been kept for her in the room so that she would always keep watch over me. I had yearned to talk to her, because talking to her, as I only realized, made me feel at peace, but at the same time, I didn’t want to disturb her. She was working so hard by staying awake all day just to look after me; I knew this because every time I opened my eyes, Athena was always there. That could be very taxing, and she deserved to get some rest.I would have opted for her book, but it had been beside her on her bed, making it impossible for me to get it.So, I had been by myself all night. The dream I had about Keith yesterday haunted me for

MIA“Good day, Miss Mia,” they all greeted at the same time.“Hi,” I managed to say, almost breathlessly.I could rarely believe my eyes. Even as they stood in front of me, I was still finding it hard to believe what was going on.Only a few minutes ago, I had been yearning for Athena’s book, wishing for what it would look like to have reading as a hobby, and now, three men were standing in front of me with carts of books, all for me to choose.Everything else that I had been worrying about disappeared completely, and my heart bubbled with excitement, and the anticipation that my world was about to change too.“We have brought the best and most interesting books from all over the world for your choosing, but it might be stressful to you, so we have a catalog of the authors and their works here on our tablets. Whichever one you pick, we will simply add it to your library,” one of them explained extensively.“My library?” I asked, sounding as though the word was foreign to me, and that
