The rogue doesn’t step back. Instead he charges forward! The rogue crashes into me like a boulder loose from a mountain. His massive frame barrels through the woods around barely acknowledging their presence. I manage to pivot in time to dodge the brunt of it but he twists, his claws rake across my side, hot blood blooming as I jump away. He’s fast. I snarl, planting my paws wide in the dirt, bracing myself. The forest hums with pressure, night air thickening with the force we’re both radiating. He circles me, lips peeled back as foam gathers at the edge of his mouth. His pupils are dilated to the extreme. There’s no reasoning with this one. Whoever he used to be, he’s long gone. He lunges again. I leap to meet him mid-air, jaw snapping around his shoulder. The impact rattles my bones.
