Mallory's pov.“Dean, Dean, baby wait.” I called as he stormed out of the Campbell's house. He didn't even turn back for once to look at me.I faced Noah and flashed him my haughty look “Learn to mind your business sometimes, see what you've caused.” I fired.Hos eyes widened as he tried to play innocent.“What did I do?” He asked.“Tch.” The longer I stay here, he more upset Dean would be with me.I have to go pacify him and explain things to him.I rushed out, gown packed in my hand so that I don't trip on it.It took a lot of convincing bring Dean down here.I just couldn't miss the event, not when uncle Alfred had nicely invited me.Dean was worried he wouldn't fit in, I had to get him a nice suit and some extra things he demanded just so he could come as my date. The plan was for me to show him off to Solene and the rest. Before I had the chance to do that, Dean was already occupied, talking to some people that works alongside uncle Alfred.Apparently, one of them owns a record

Mallory's pov.“So babes, when are you going to ask Alfred Campbell that favour you promised me.”It's been a week since I told Dean that I would do something about it.There has not been a single day or night that he gave me breathing since regarding it.I pretended to check my phone first.“I'd do so soon, Uncle Alfred is a very busy man, to create time for me out of his schedule is usually a big deal.”He groaned and slapped the beacon and toast he was arranging on a plate.“Are you kidding me right now?” He snarled.“How long do I have to wait for this, how busy can he be? Yet you claim to be familiar friends.”“I will try to contact him again.” I said in a shaky voice.I picked up my phone and tried Uncle Alfred's number, it went straight to voicemailI don't want to go to the house without reaching out to him first.“He hasn't answered, like I said, he could be busy.”Dean sucked his teeth really loud.“It was pointless putting my hopes on you in the first place. You just want m

Mallory's pov.I hate them all, the whole lot of them. To think that no one could even have my backI just wasted precious time talking to Noah about it. He had nothing to tell me.My goodness, Dean is going to be so pissed at me.I already assured him that things were going to work out.I hate when he gets off the rail with me. It's usually hard for me to get him back.My hands tightened around the steering wheel as I drove home. He'd need the car tonight. So I have to go back to him to use it as well.Going to Uncle Alfred’s office might just be futileHe'd ask a question about Dean.Noah already showed his disapproval of him, not that his words matter to me. But he can actually make matters worse if he decides to let Uncle Alfred know about it.I had spent a lot of hours on the road. I even had to stop to fix the tires and fill the fuel tank.It was already late when I drove into the parking lot of my apartment.Loud music welcomed me from the inside, the lights were on and people

Chapter 137.Mallory's pov.I was hearing strange voices; I was sure I was hearing things, but I just couldn't pinpoint which direction they were coming from.“Jesus Christ, my baby, I just pray she's okay.”Okay, that voice sounds really familiar. Was that Barbara? Why does it sound like she's crying?I already knew that she'd never shed a tear for me, not Barbara. Not when she's standing over my grave. The reassuring voice of Uncle Alfred drifted into my ears“Shhh, the doctor said she'd be fine, let's wait for her to come around.” An unfamiliar voice suddenly shouted.“I think she's coming out.”My eyes fought to adjust to the lights above my head.Barbara was beside herself with a tear-stained face.I groaned aloud as I felt a sharp pain in my head.“Easy.” They all said at the same timeWhat are they doing here? Why was I even here and bandaged heavily? Then it flashed like lightning in my mind.Dean, his elbow connecting to my forehead, and the way I just blacked out.“You almo

Aaron's pov. After the party at the Campbells' mansion, Solene had created some gap between us Which I feel was unnecessary.I already explained that I had some work to handle —a real family crisis involving my little sister, Priscilla.I expected her to be more understanding, not upset that I showed up late. She claimed that everything was cool. And we were good, but she hasn't returned any of my texts or calls. The fact that school was on a break did not help matters.I would have gone to pay her a visit, but that would have come across as kind of cringeworthy and given a poor impression of me.“Hey, dear, what's wrong, love?” Aunty Susan ruffled my hair. She does that to me anytime she sees me.I have complained several times that I am not a kid, I am an adult now.It only made matters worse as she does it every now and then.“What's got my nephew so in the mood?” That's one of the things I like about Aunty Susan. She could tell just by glancing at me that something was wrong.
