Lahat ng Kabanata ng Werewolf Academy : Kabanata 71 - Kabanata 80

I peer over at the door before making it to my bed and dropping down beside him. In spite of my frustration with him, it feels welcoming when he wraps an arm around my shoulders and pulls me closer.“It started when I was sent to Nightfall prison. When I was falsely accused of attacking Katie and Lila,” he starts. “It was on the second night I was locked up that a cloaked stranger showed up in my cell—hell knows how he got in. But he grabbed me and bit me. He did something to me—I couldn’t move. It was like I was tied up, but there were no ropes or chains binding me.”“I know what you’re talking about,” I say. “It happened to me when that vampire got me in the woods. There was a moment I couldn’t move at all.”“Yes,” he looks at me. “Some type of magic. Anyway, as I was incapacitated, the cloaked person cut their hand and stuck the wound to my lips. They let the blood flow into my mouth.”“You couldn’t stop it.” It isn’t a question. I know from what happened to me and how helpless I fe

A deafening crash rips my attention from the history book sprawled across my lap. My head snaps toward the foot of Ariah’s bed, my heart inside my stomach. There, in the middle of discarded clothes and old notebooks, lies a shattered vase of daisies. Pale petals scatter across the floor while water seeps between the floorboards, tracing slow, snaking lines as if deciding where to go. The faint smell of damp earth fills the room, mingling with the musty scent of laundry and the ever-present aroma of coffee grounds from Ariah’s corner.I toss the book aside and slide off the bed, my feet barely making a sound on the floor. As I inch closer to the mess of crushed glass and wilting flowers, something moves in the recess of my vision. Before I can react, a shirt whips through the air, grazing my cheek with the softest brush.A startled yelp escapes my lips, and I stumble backward, my heart lurching in my chest. Instinctively, I raise my hands, palms outward, shielding myself from whatever m

Elijah leads me out of the cafeteria, his strides heavy, as if dragging an unseen weight alongside him. Behind us, Nate slouches deeper into his chair, sulking down at his smoothie for company. The buzz of the cafeteria fades as we cross the quieter side of the academy, the faint echoes of our footsteps breaking the stillness. The walls here seem to hold their breath, lined with dusty portraits of long-forgotten graduates whose eyes follow us in an eerie disinterest. We reach a small alcove near the library, a spot most people forget exists. Elijah stops and turns to face me, his expression serious, almost conflicted.I tilt my head up, raising an eyebrow to mask the uneasy flutter in my chest. “Okay, what’s going on? You’ve been weirdly quiet ever since Nate brought up Sally.”He runs a hand through his golden hair, the sunlight filtering through the nearby window, catching the strands and making them glow celestially. His jaw tightens, a flicker of frustration crossing his face befor

“And he accused you of provoking Sally? Oh, puh-leeze.” Nate’s indignation sharpens his voice. “Someone needs to give that boy a few smacks upside the head and beat some sense into him.”“That, I agree with,” I mutter, my gaze dropping to the table. My nails dig into the wood as I struggle to keep the anger contained. “I can’t believe he accused me of that.”“Neither can I,” Nate says with a vehement shake of his head. “Look, I hate being that friend, but something about this doesn’t add up. Hot as heck as he is, there’s something else going on here. I can feel it, and it’s not sitting well with me.”The worst part is I hate that he’s right. The knot in my chest tightens, constricting with every breath.Elijah has been distant and evasive. And now, this?I open my mouth to respond, but the words catch in my throat when Ariah saunters over to our table. Her entrance is nothing short of theatrical, every movement deliberate, like she’s the star of a stage play only she’s aware of. She sl

After our final class for the day, I head for the library, more than ready to take on my shift for the evening. I need to stay busy. And, with exams drawing close, the library stays open until midnight for students to get in their study sessions without any interruption.Unless you insult a particular ghost that vacates the space.I haven’t seen Tilly for a hot minute, nor think about her—not until I enter the library and see Luca deep in a conversation with Dibella, right by the front desk.A sigh slips past my lips, deflating what little energy I had left. So much for hoping Dibella would be tucked away in the back, too engrossed in sorting books to pay me any attention. But no, she’s right there, in full view, her presence as unavoidable as ever. Her head snaps up at my arrival, and her face lights up with that all-too-familiar, high-pitched squeal of glee that makes my ears want to curl in protest.“My best assistant is here!” she exclaims, her voice so syrupy it could rot teeth.
