Black Magic

Griffin’s POVRyker stayed longer than I wanted him to.He always did.He paced around the room, hands in his pockets, tossing me small looks every few minutes like he was waiting for me to explain. I didn’t.Finally, he sighed. “Alright, look. I’ll shut up about your fiancée. But you should know something else.”I leaned back against the desk, folding my arms. “What now?”He stopped pacing. “The cheerleader. Josie.” His voice dropped. “They ruled it as suicide earlier, but… it doesn’t add up.”I frowned. “What do you mean?”“We saw that she had hanged herself, right? But the coroner’s report says there were traces of ash on her palms. Not smoke. Ash. As in, ritual ash.”I straightened, a cold weight forming in my stomach. “Ritual?”Ryker nodded grimly. “The same pattern we saw last semester in the forbidden section, the mark of Acheron. Black magic. Someone’s been practicing it again.”My chest tightened. The same mark that had burned on my wrist after the attack. The same kind of da

FEAR

Lena's POV On the ground near the corner, a faint trail of black ash.I crouched, heart hammering, and touched it carefully. It smeared under my fingers like soot, staining my skin with a dark shimmer that pulsed faintly before vanishing.“What the hell…” I whispered. It wasn’t ordinary ash. It felt alive.Something was wrong. Someone had been here.I looked up and saw movement across the street, just a flicker of shadow slipping behind a parked car. My throat went dry.“Who’s there?”No answer. Just silence.I backed away slowly, keeping my eyes on that spot until I turned the corner. My pace turned into a jog, then a near run. I didn’t stop until I reached my street. When I finally got inside my apartment, I slammed the door shut and leaned against it, trying to catch my breath. My palms were slick with sweat, and that strange ash mark still burned faintly on my skin, no matter how much I wiped it.I went straight to the sink and scrubbed until it faded to gray. The water turned bl

Confrontation

Lena’s POVI told myself a hundred times that avoiding him was the safest thing I could do. That if I let him breathe, if I stayed out of his orbit, whatever shadow clung to him might loosen. But avoidance is an excuse, and excuses are for cowards.Three days of distance of sidestepping hallways, ducking out of classrooms, pretending to tie my shoe until he passed had done nothing but make me smaller. It made me a spectator to my own life. Watching him from the margins, watching Lilith slip in and out of his world like she owned the air around him, was slowly driving me insane. So I decided to stop being small.I knew where Lilith ate. Everybody did. She saved the best seat in the cafeteria for herself: a corner table by the window where Griffin always found his way to sit, where whispers and attention circled around them both like moths to light. I timed it, planned it. My hands were so cold that when I picked up my tray, the plastic felt almost hot against my palms. When I finally s

Payback

Lena’s POVI left before she could say anything else. My chest felt heavy, but the anger had changed shape. It was no longer a blind, mindless rage. It had become a weapon I could sharpen. If I couldn’t go after Griffin directly without getting pulled into whatever dragged him, I could start by isolating the one clinging to him. I could unmake the little kingdom she’d built on his shoulders. After that, Chloe was calmer. It watched, patient and hungry. I’d confronted Xena because I needed someone to hear it aloud. Because saying it made the plan more real: force Lilith to choose, make her stand alone, expose her.If she refused, if she tried to hide behind false tears and public smiles, then I’d make sure the mask slipped.I don’t like the person I’m becoming. But there’s a blunt, necessary part of me that’s growing used to the idea of being ruthless. Because softness got me stabbed literally, last life and maybe before and I can’t afford to be soft anymore. So I’ll wait. I’ll watch.

The Mountain Path

Griffin’s POVThe air in the hall felt too tight to breathe. People whispered, gasped, turned, but all I could see was Lena. Her father’s voice boomed across the room, sharp and furious, and instead of looking at the woman who had clearly betrayed him, he turned on his daughter. “Lena, what is the meaning of this?” I froze where I stood, my glass halfway to my lips. Lena’s face went pale, her lips parted like she couldn’t quite believe what she’d heard. She tried to defend herself, but her father silenced her, the kind of silence that hurts worse than words. I felt something twist inside me. Disappointment. Anger. Maybe both. When she finally turned to leave, she tried to smile. Tried to make it look like she didn’t care. But I saw it, the tremor in her lips, the glassy glaze over her eyes, the way her shoulders stiffened as if she was holding herself together. Lilith leaned closer to me, whispering something about “drama queens,” but I wasn’t listening. My eyes stayed on Le

Overturn

Lena’s POV The night was perfect or it looked that way from the outside. The chandeliers hung low, casting soft light across rows of smiling faces, champagne glasses clinking, violins humming. My father stood proudly at the center of it all, giving his annual *thank-you speech*, the one he practiced every year in front of the mirror, pretending not to age. Everyone looked so polished, so pristine. But all I could see was rot under silk. And tonight, I was going to peel it open. The projector stood in the far corner, displaying a slideshow of my father’s pictures, smiling, cutting ribbons, shaking hands with men twice his ego. I’d been careful; I’d planted the flash drive hours ago when the house staff was too distracted setting up. The moment the lights dimmed for his speech, I knew I had the upper hand. I leaned back in my seat, sipping champagne I didn’t even like, watching the slideshow change every few seconds. My heartbeat synced with the click of each image. Then it happ

The Walk Away

Lena’s POVI told him to pick a lane. Just like that. And then I turned my back on him.But deep down… God, deep down I was hoping… no, wanting… him to stop me. To say my name. To run after me, maybe even pull me back into a hug from behind. Just something. Something that showed it meant something to him. That I meant something.I even slowed my steps, just a little. Gave him time. Gave him a chance to react. But nothing came.He didn’t move. Not an inch. No sound. No shift. Just stillness. So I kept walking. Swallowed it down.I brushed my hair out of my face, cleared it from my eyes, and held back the tears threatening to fall. The cool mountain wind brushed against my skin, drying the wetness before it could even form properly.I told myself to move on. So I did.Even though it hurt like hell.Every step felt heavier than the last. My shoes scuffed against the dirt path. Each step away from him felt like tearing something invisible out of my chest. At some point, I stopped pretendi

Bound To Him

Lena’s POV It all happened so fast. One second, I was pulled into an alley, the next, someone’s arm wrapped tight around my waist, another clamped over my mouth. My body froze, my heart hammering like it wanted to escape my chest. I kicked, twisted, tried to scream, but his grip was firm—too firm. Panic shot through me, sharp and blinding. Then I did the only thing I could think of. I sank my teeth hard into the hand covering my mouth. He yelped, jerking back. “What the bloody hell—”The voice hit me instantly.“Griffin?” I gasped, spinning around. He stood there, breathing hard, his expression caught somewhere between pain and frustration. For a moment, disbelief anchored me. I shoved him off, my chest rising and falling. “Are you insane?” I snapped, my palm flying across his face before I could stop myself. The sound echoed. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”He didn’t even flinch. Instead, he smirked, infuriating, calm, like he always was when he knew he’d gotten under my

Alone Again

Lena’s POVThe taxi dropped us off in front of the Walkers’ mansion, and we both stepped out. The place looked just as intimidating as ever, towering gates, flawless hedges, the kind of silence that screamed wealth and secrets. I could almost feel the house watching me, like it knew I didn’t belong here. When I walked in, I glanced around the living room and the wide, polished hallways. Griffin’s father wasn’t anywhere in sight, and neither was Lilith. Honestly, that gave me a strange sense of relief. I didn’t think I had the strength to see her smug face tonight.Griffin didn’t say much. He just led me silently through the hallway and up the stairs. His steps were calm, too calm, as if we hadn’t been through hell the past few days. When we finally stopped in front of one of the guest rooms, he turned toward me with the same expressionless face.“You can stay here for the night,” he said plainly. And then he left.Just like that. The door closed quietly behind him, and I was left star

Standing Again

Lena’s POVAnother day came. And I was still here.Still stuck in the same room, the same air, the same silence. It felt like the walls were closing in on me, like I had quietly imprisoned myself without even realizing it. I hadn’t heard a single thing from Griffin. Not a knock, not a message, not even a note. It was as if he had vanished from existence the second he walked out that door.I sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the tray of untouched food from the night before. I didn’t even have the appetite anymore. Every minute that passed reminded me how easy it was for people to leave me behind. Then came the knock. The maid entered, her head bowed slightly, a new tray of food balanced neatly in her hands. She placed it on the small table near the window and turned to leave, moving quietly, as if she was trying not to disturb me.“Wait,” I said quickly, my voice sharper than I intended. She froze and turned back, eyes wide, unsure.“Where’s Griffin?” I asked. My tone softened thi
