SERAPHINA Oliver led me down the wide stairs, one hand pressed to the small of my back like I was some precious thing he was guiding gently toward slaughter before I could escape. Maybe it was why he called me little lamb. Helpless and easy to control and do whatever they seemed to want. And I hated myself for being this weak.As we reached the landing my eyes travelled around the room, to my right was a hallway leading to a den and a backyard with the pool. And in front of me was the living room with the French windows on the right that looked outside to the woods, in the middle the couch and a loveseat dominated the space with a small fireplace in center of the opposite wall above which there were several photographs of the three of them, giving this place a personal touch. And on the left was the kitchen with open plan and a table of four where Allister and Dante were already sitting.Allister’s eyes turned to me and he stared at me with a brow raised. Oliver nudged me to move for

SERAPHINASomeone picked me up in their arms, but I didn’t open my eyes. My body was trembling too hard, my breath shallow and tight. Silent tears trailed down my cheeks but I couldn’t cry out loud anymore. I was all cried out. I felt broken from the inside. My lips felt bruised, my mouth tasted of him, Dante. My step brother. The man on whom I had once crushed over. The man who had once starred in my dreams but was now my cruel reality.I was carried upstairs. A door creaked open. Then I was being settled down on the mattress, like I was a child. It was surely another of their twisted games to show me softness one moment after being so brutally treated like a worthless object. And then silence engulfed me, but not comforting one. It urged me to open my eyes and see the man who had taken pity on me.I knew it won't be Dante but when I finally opened my eyes, I almost reared back to find Allister standing there. An

SERAPHINA He was kissing me.Allister Hale was kissing me.He was giving me my first kiss.My breath caught as his lips pressed against mine, firm and demanding. Not sweet, not tender. He wasn’t giving me my first kiss but he was claiming it. But not with the harsh brutality Dante had shown me or by beckoning me with deceptive charm like Oliver. This was different. I allowed it. I asked for it.And I didn’t know what to do.As if he could sense how lost and tense I was, he pulled back slightly and my fingers tightened where they braced on his shoulders. Is this it?But I didn’t want it to end just yet.He said, “Relax,” His hand lifted from my back and settled at the back of my head, not giving me the chance to pull away. “It’s a kiss, not a punishment. Unless you make it one.”How can someone turn a kiss into a punishment? But he didn’t give me a chance to question it as his other hand came up to cup my jaw. His lips a breath away from mine, voice low and unhurried, he murmured, “O

SERAPHINA “Open,” Dante commanded againI lifted my gaze slowly, not meeting his eyes, but faltered when I saw his hand. There was no fork this time. Instead, he held a piece of steak between his thumb and forefinger, his hand extended toward me.I hesitated. Everything in me screamed to shake my head, go starve or just take the plate and dump it all on his head. But hunger clawed at my insides and something else… something like fear of him retaliating if I didn’t obey him again. So I opened my mouth. And he fed me.His fingers slid between my lips, pressing the bite of food to my tongue. I tasted garlic, rosemary… and him as my lips closed around his fingers and he didn’t show any rush to take it out of my mouth. Skin and salt and heat, all became a part of me. My breath caught in my chest as I chewed, savoring the meat.He fed me bite after bite, and I ate, without meeting his dark eyes even ones. I ate until I felt I couldn’t eat anymore and a thought came alive from somewhere w
